Hi Amy!

I found it. I gave in to the pizza and ice cream last night!

I love these little faces! Anyway, I'm still full this morning - yuck!

Plus my allergies are acting up so I'm going to give my doctor a call and see about readjusting my nutrition. I need to have my knees adjusted too as they are giving me serious grief.

I hope you have a good day!

I may be going out on a limb here (hense the smile), but the biggest problem I see with overweight and obese men and women is esteem. You wanted honesty and I think that you MUST hold your head up no matter what your size. You do not have to be happy with it, but don't be ashamed of YOURSELF. Dress, act, walk, and talk, like you are like everyone else because you are. Your body image is just that an image. It is not the only part of you.

I am approx 340lbs (exact # is in question because the idiot doctors don't have scales for us), I never go out of my home without looking my best. Remember, they don't know you they judge you by how you look and act. Give 'em back confidence and good hygiene, not sloppiness and bowed heads. I see so many fat folks wearing sloppy ill fitting clothes walking around in the store or the mall giving the public exactly what they want. The wrong opinion about overweight people. It makes me soooo mad. Don't think that I don't get looks because I do, but I look 'em dead in the eye and smile and be friendly. Believe me it goes a long way when you face down the bully so to speak. Gives you an instant lift!!!

Here is the shocker. I worked for a law firm for 5 years and dealt with the public at this size and I have a fairly new job now and I am a receptionist. Yep, meet people everyday. Do you think I would have been hired if I had interviewed wearing sloppy clothes because I am unwilling to groom myself because I have given up. Don't let the public beat you down!

Let's give ourselves what we deserve and that is respect. We can make them respect us! Rah Rah Rah!!! I love you all. You can all accomplish whatever you want out of life!

Donna

Vicki,

Must be the day for bad knees. My ankles, knees, and hips are killing me. Mine is old age and old fat not necessarily in that order. lol Hang in there and hope you feel better real soon! We love you!

Donna;)

Amyjo01 09-19-2001 07:24 PM

Donna ~ Welcome... thank you for your inspiring ideas. Sometimes it is hard to keep your confidence up when you know that there is another person lurking inside of you and she is a size 8 :) but it is really nice to find someone with such a great attitude.

Vic ~ I am glad you found me! I hope everyone else follows soon! I find out tomorrow how bad I flunked my Patho test :( but I will deal one way or the other. I had my first day in a clinical setting today, I had the coolest little lady... We are in an independent living facility for three weeks and then we will be in a Nursing home for 3 weeks later in the semester. I was not sure what to expect today being that I haven't ever dealt with assisted or independent living - it felt really invasive going into this ladies home, but she was really nice and made me feel at ease so it went well. Sorry about your knees- it is cooling off here slowly so I expect to start having problems in about a month.

Food has not been bad.. I didn't lose this week still at 145. I really need to start posting my food again.. I think I will start tonight.

Hope you guys like it here!

Hugs,
Amy

BIKERCHICK 09-20-2001 09:39 AM

Donna - Hello! You are so right, we do need to look good.

Amy - I hope you did better on your exam that you expect to! And, maintaining is still better than gaining, so you are still on track! I maintained last week also and I was eating right and exercising like a fool, so even if you stay on plan, it doesn't guarantee a loss.

I'm going to get back to logging my food. Here's yesterday:

breakfast: apple, 1/2 cinnamon bagel with honey, 1 piece of pizza
lunch: 2 pieces of pizza, ff pudding, can of soda
snack: butterfinger candy bar
dinner: mozzarella sticks, chicken and rice

Not a good day for eating. I love pizza in the morning that has been left out at room temperature. I have been asking my dh to put it away when he eats it at night so I'm not tempted, but he didn't the other night, so I had to have some for breakfast. Then I gave in to the candy bar when I was at the grocery store. Today, I'm back on track!

exercise: none - scheduled day of rest
water: 120 oz
vitamins: yes

Stay strong!

- Vicki

Amyjo01 09-20-2001 10:12 PM

Well Vicki- it looks like I amazed myself again... I pulled a 92 out of a test that I literally thought that I fail. Blows me away! I might make it through! I have to keep a 3.0 to get into Graduate school so I had better buckle down.

Your doing great, everyone deserves their Pizza sometimes :) even when Your pizza is cookies!

Food was good today:
AM
1 Breyers light yogurt
Lunch
artichoke hearts and pasta
PM Snack
Some tater tots
Later PM Snack
1 granola bar

I am really hungry now but it is so late, I think I will just drink a glass of milk.

I wonder if everyone else is going to join us here?

Hope your knees and sinuses are feeling better.

Amy

Hilary 09-21-2001 01:09 AM

I'll join you all!!

Hi, I'm new here!

I have found the threads a bit overwhelming...and extremely confusing. I guess I'm just not used to such long threads everywhere...I don't know where to go lol! I just have never been to a site that handles their message board threads like this...I was actually looking around yesterday for a thread on the FAQ bb about what goes on here...makes it all so difficult to just 'jump right in' lol!!

ANYWAY!!

I'm a SAHM to three under three - names and ages are in my signature! :D

I had decided to start losing the extra me before I found out I was pregnant in January with my third child...I was 197 then and now I'm down to 176 (I'm four weeks postpartum)...I never gained while I was pg, just lost (I never had morning sickness...I just didn't gain lol!).

I'm on a relaxed diet/exercise plan until October 1, which is the Monday after when I will be six weeks post partum. I am so ready to start...I weighed myself about two weeks ago and haven't done it since...I am going to wait until October 1. I'm hoping to see some sort of progress, but I'm not going to be upset if there isn't any...after all, this isn't a strict regime just yet!

I asked a friend of mine who had her baby about seven weeks before me if she would be interested in going walking with me a few nights a week (nights because she works), and she said yes! So, I'm really excited about that.

Lately, I have gone walking 1/2 mile everyday with my three children (I put the youngest two in the dbl stroller) and today I did ten minutes with my AbShaper (but I don't think I did it right AT ALL because my neck is still sore from it *sigh*).

Ok - I think I yammered on enough!!

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(((Donna - we're both in Memphis, TN!! Actually, I'm in Tipton Cty, just north of Memphis, but heck - that is close enough!))

BIKERCHICK 09-21-2001 11:13 PM

Amy - Congrats on your test score! That's fantastic! I sure hope that Vic and Deb and Gertie find us over here! Yes, my knees and allergies are much better - thanks for asking.

Hilary - Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm a 31 year old that's married to a wonderful man and we have an adorable dog named Nuke. I'm an electrical engineer working as a software engineer from home.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

- Vicki

Amyjo01 09-21-2001 11:56 PM

Hillary welcome! Your at about the weight that I was when I started the "true" weight loss journey- my top weight was 184, but when I joined here and the weight loss program I am a member of I was at 176. I am currently at 145 wanting to be down to 130 by the first of the year which is a realistic goal but I am not pushing myself. No point in losing it, if 1. I don't lose it right and 2. If I don't keep if off... so slower is better if I am doing it healthy. The board is a little overwhelming but by far it is the best bulletin board I have been affliated with!

Vicki - I am doing pretty good, I sent the other girls the new link to this sight maybe they will get the hint :) ! I really miss them ! I don't know if you will remember this but at the beginning of the summer I had a scare related to my husbands blue jeans... I grabbed them off of the hanger in the wash room thinking they were mine and I got them up to the top of my thighs -

Same thing happened this morning... I was pulling up at pair of Levi's freaking because they were tooooooo tight but I got them all the way on- zipped and buttoned and was freaking because I knew I haven't been really "good" this week and I thought that I had gained... well I was not exactly comfortable to so I decided to change into another pair of jean and then I saw the label on them... They we DH's again :) only this time I actually got them all the way on. I can't beleive (squeezed in or not) that I actually fit into a pair of mens 30/34 straight leg jeans! (do a little dance) I haven't really been watching myself too closely this week- but I guess I am not falling back into the old routine- I am still making good judgement calls where the food is concerned for the most part.

I have a foundations test on Monday and a Health Assesments test on Friday of next week :( I am not really happy about that! I have been studying all evening while I was watching the stars tribute to the hero's in New York- it was really good. I have to run it is getting late and I have several more chapters to get through!

Post soon!

Hugs,
Amy

Hilary 09-22-2001 11:32 PM

Vicki and Amy - Thanks for the welcome!

That is so funny about the jeans - I would love to get dh's jeans on! Even at my best weight since highschool, I wasn't able to *comfortably* wear them! I couldn't go out in public in them, though...since he is a foot taller than me lol!! I can't imagine how freaked out you probably were at first!

Well, I have decided to start bike-riding...I was at my dad's house earlier today and saw my sister's old bike...took it for a spin and WOOHOO!! I had forgotten how much I like to ride. I am going to borrow her bike until I get my own (might be tomorrow in which case I won't have to swipe hers). I would like a ten speed, and hers is similar to a mountain bike...just not what I want. I am just thrilled...I can't wait to start putting on the miles while on a bike, with the wind in my hair!

BIKERCHICK 09-23-2001 10:39 PM

Amy - I do remember the last time you put on your dh's jeans. I think that's fantastic that you were able to get them all the way on!

Good luck on your tests!

According to the little message box on the left side of the screen - today is your birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

We took our dog over to a town fair today for an agility demo. Our instructors wanted their students to do a demo so people could see many different levels of ability. Nuke did his worst run ever this morning with me and then when dh took him out this afternoon - he had his best run ever. I think my nervousness rubbed off on him a little bit. Dh doesn't get nervous about being in front of a crowd, so he is now designated our agility handler for shows. We are thinking that Nuke is ready for a show now. It is so fun to watch him because he is just running full speed and it looks like he has a huge grin on his face while he's doing it. I tried to get some action pictures today but my reflexes aren't fast enough so I just got a bunch of pictures of the course.

Yesterday we went with my brother-in-law and his wife to a movie. We took our motorcycles and we wanted to bring our dog over so that he could get some exercise playing with their dogs while we were at the movie. So, we put him in his travel crate and strapped him to the back of dh's bike. We made sure it was really secure and then I drove my motorcycle behind them. Nuke loved it! The look on their faces when we pulled up with the dog strapped to the bike was too funny! So now we are truly a motorcycle family!

Hey Amy I finally did it, I'm bacccck.

Amy--You and dh's jeans that is really hilarious but GREAT that you can put them all the way on. You go girl. How's school going, guess I shouldn't ask because you always think you're not doing too good and you're acing it.

Vicki--how is it going with you. How's Nuke's classes coming and you guys are great strapping him to back of dh's bike, did he like it.

Ok guyz I borrowed Billie Blanks Tae Bo tapes from a co-worker and I'm going to see how I do with them. I need to get back on track, food has been pretty good but the exercising just isn't there. Where is Vic and Gertie, I saw Amy replied to her but I didn't see her post. I'm going to check ediets to see if Gertie and Vic have posted over there.

Are we continuing with the same protocol that we had in ediets??

Hilary-welcome, its always great to have someone new and you will find that all the women here give great support and love.

Well better go, check in later.

Deb

baskoflove 09-26-2001 12:14 PM

Hey Hillary we are neighbors! I am a 6 month transplant from Northern Indiana (my daughter, son-in-law and grandbaby live in Bartlett) but dh is retired Navy and we were stationed at Millington twice so that is not far from you. Good to meet ya! My husband, our Yorkie, Fortune, and I live real close to Memphis University. My work is out in Whitehaven.

Gracious girl, with those little ones and you running around after them you should be teeny in no time. I have a 15 month old grandson named Thomas Rexford (T-rex) who is a lovable terror! Such energy! He is my avatar. (bet ya couldn't have guessed that huh?) ,welcome I am fairly new also, but the support on any of the threads or forums is fantastic!

Amy- Honey If I could get my big toe in my husband's jeans I would be dancing in the aisles. Hurrah for you! Way to go with school! You're doing phenom. Felicitations on your b-day. You probably are still young enough to like them. Mine is day after tomorrow, yck! My dh reminded me that next year I will get a birthday greeting from AARP! Ain't he sweet! Hope you get lots of good stuff.

Deb- Always found tai-bo interesting, but I think I better choose walking for the time being. My leg might get stuck somewhere between the floor and the kick part. lol

Biker-What kind of dog is Nuke? He is either really big or tiny with a big attitude with that name! Our baby is Fortune (because that is what he costs us) He is a little over a year old and a Yorkie. He goes everywhere with us. My daughter says it is embarrassing that her mom and dad have turned into one of those old couples driving around in a big car and their little dog! He would be offended by that. He thinks he is one of our children actually, an only child. I think he wonders who the heck my real children are.

Everybody have a great day. I better get to work.

Donna

Hilary 09-26-2001 02:03 PM

Good afternoon! :D

Deb - I am starting to do Taebo again...I used to do it about twice a week, but stopped because I was babysitting and just didn't have the time, etc. I did the instructional video yesterday to refresh my memory...I stopped about halfway through because my foot was going numb (it has been doing that a lot lately).

Definitely an awesome workout!!! :) I am going to try the instructional again and hope my foot doesn't go numb this time lol!

Donna - my dad was stationed here twice...for training, and then this is where he retired in '95. My husband works as a computer tech on the base right now, too. :) We are in Tipton, but originally both lived in Millington, and then when we got married, we were living in Bartlett. I used to work at Graceland, so probably not far from where you are working now! That was a looong drive from Brighton (where I lived when I first started working there!). I worked in Raleigh for awhile, and now I just stay at home with my little monkeys..err..children.

It is really great meeting someone so close by here!!! :)

Amyjo01 09-26-2001 02:15 PM

Thanks for the birthday wishes... I really didn't celebrate- I was too tired.

Deb- Vic and Gertie haven't made it here yet, I am getting worried about them! Glad you came aboard though. I don't seem to have time to do anything towards my "dieting"- I haven't gained or lost in 3 weeks so nothing to be happy or sad about! How are things? Chris doing alright? Yes pretty much same protocol... Post your food, vitamins, exercise

Vicki - Did you guys have a good weekend? Glad Nuke did good- Sky walked Precious yesterday - or should I say Precious walked Sky... that dog has more energy than I have ever seen in a living creature.

Donna - Husbands have a way of putting things don't they. :) but from the sounds of it your age and your attitude don't mesh so as long as you feel young- you can almost stay that way.

Hillary - Good luck with the bike- I would probably end up breaking something- not a option!

Well our weather is cooling off it is SO so SO nice.... lows in the 50's and highs in the mid 70's- I think I am going to try to get in a walk before I get the kids. I have got GOT to get back on track... I had Restaurant Mexican today :( bad bad bad bad bad!!!! I haven't been to a restaurant since March (other than Subway and Arby's) and I CAN NOT Start doing that again! I will have that 40 pounds back on in no time!~

I am making a goal for myself.... back to my good for me foods and back to exercising at least 3 times a week. :dizzy: Like to know when I am going to have time to exercise.....

Happy to have you all here!

Hugs to you!
Amy

Wow, Hillary, if you draw an imaginary box with Millbranch, Brooks road, Winchester and Cazazza I would be in the center. I work on Lynnbrook for a big HVAC company (Heating and Air Conditioning). It is only about a block from that religious radio station. My grandson would fit right in at your house! My husband and I call him thomas the tornado. You should see my daughter's house, toys everywhere. Of course, I guess we have to take some responsibility as he is our only grandchild and his other grandparents (who are in their 60's and this is their only one too) live across the street from them! He is one spoiled little boy!

Not that this will help any of us, but for humor, but my daughter lost 40 lbs breast feeding. Now, my boobs could feed a third world but the milk done dried up years ago (24 to be exact!)

Anybody got a really good substitute (besides Iced tea and water) for soft drinks? I gotta cut these puppies cold turkey and I hate diet. I never have found something I like. Most crystal lite takes watery to me, but maybe there is a flavor I haven't tried? Any suggestions are great. I don't do coffee either. Pickey aren't I?

Hey, I guess I should find something to do this afternoon for work this afternoon as I do get paid. I was really busy this morning for the most part fielding calls for our project managers who are bidding on a University of Memphis job. Happy eating (or not eating depending on your point of view!) See uh, write, uh hear aw to heck with it. Have a good one. Donna;)

BIKERCHICK 09-26-2001 10:36 PM

Good evening everyone!

Deb - I'm glad you found us! I hope Vic and Gertie do soon! Nuke did like the ride - he kept turning around so he could see everything that was going by.

Donna - Nuke is a Standard Schnauzer, so he's a medium sized dog, but he definitely lives up to his name - he has a very explosive personality! He is a year and half and our little baby. We don't have any human kids so he doesn't even have any competition. We'll see how he does when we get our next puppy. We are on the waiting list for the next litter - probably next year.

I drink juice. If you find a fruit juice that is 100% juice, then it counts as a fruit (1 serving per 8 oz). It will still have calories, but they will be much better for you. Juicy Juice berry is my favorite.

I can't do caffeine or artificial sweeteners - either one will give me a very painful headache so I learned to find other things to drink long ago.

I did good with eating today until dinner. We went out to eat - we do quite often and I've become pretty good about ordering healthy. Well, tonight the mozzarella sticks and the grilled ham & cheese was calling my name. Then, we had a waiter that we have gotten to know real well and he said he'd buy us dessert. I couldn't turn down a free dessert! So I ordered ice cream and caramel. I figured that would be the least painful in terms of fat and calories. Boy did it taste good!

Have a great day!

- Vicki

baskoflove 09-27-2001 10:10 AM

Vicki- Sounds like the dairy products conspired against you last night. I bet they stood around in the kitchen and said, "Hey, we have some chick out there refusing to eat us, let's get the waiter to help us out!" Today will be a great day for you I predict.

My girlfriend has 3 miniature schnauzers, Kayla, Ashley, and Lucy. They are her three children (hence the childlike names). Lucy was born with a hole in her little heart and had to have open heart surgery that cost them a bundle. She is doing great and she is best buds with Fortune.

Thanks for the drink tip by the way. I usually stick to water most of the time and tea for dinner meals or eating out. I just get tired of not having a variety.

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!! Donna

Amyjo01 09-28-2001 08:18 PM

Hey guys~

I have been dog sick this week and it is just getting worse. I am back on track where my diet is concerned. Drinking water and I actually walked 3 miles day before yesterday feeling like crap and all!

I just thought I would stop in and say hey! and wish everyone a great weekend! I have a family reunion and a birthday party to go to...

Hugs!

I've been MIA too long to try and catch up to everyone so we'll start from today and get back in the swing of things as we go.. if that's alright???

It's a new month and I'm back for round two.. drop the next 20! I kinda got out of the dieting mode so I decided that was the first thing I had to start doing again.. well, second really.. first was to get back together with you guyz and get my motivation back!

I've been outta sorts the past few weeks and am now getting my balance back. I think we were all affected more then we realized. Anyhoo.. it's time to get back into the "lose groove"! I still want to fit into that dress by New Years Eve!

Exercise: 40 minutes
Water: 8 oz so far
Vitamins: Down

Breakfast: Oatmeal, 1 slicetoast, sunny D
Lunch: 1/2 PB&J sandwich, handful of baked tostitos, C. Edy's grand lite ice cream (cookies and cream)

I've gotten into the habit of taking baked fish to work at night.. hopefully that will help to start goosing the needle down again!

Amy, Deb, Deb.. I'm so glad you guys have hung in there and kept us together! :D We'll catch up!

I'm afraid to go back and check out the others as I'm not used to this thread yet.. but look forward to getting to know Hilary and bask o love3?

baskoflove 10-01-2001 05:10 PM

HI guys!

Amy- Good luck on your test tomorrow. Don't study too hard it will put you off your game.

Vic- Nice to meet you! If you have to, start slow and work back up to speed. It takes major commitment to do this and sometimes we just don't have all we need. Am looking forward to talking with you.

Well, I started Sunday and am doing great so far. One thing about me is when I commit, I commit. I know it is hard to believe, but when I lost the 60 lbs 2 years ago, I did not cheat one time in about 8 months! This is probably a repeat so forgive me, but what caused my downfall backwards was my husband losing his job, and losing it and losing it, etc. for a year and a half and then he took a job that didn't pay enough to even meet the bills with a new company that only had six employees and he was one of them! He left that company and we moved because they were not doing too well and he was afraid it would happen again. The man is a 20 year Naval veteran and taking care of his family was of utmost importance so I had to deal with him feeling he was letting me down when it was never his fault. We thought a big city would do the trick but he was without a job for 5 months. Now he has a great job as do I and I can commit again!

I consumed 1200 calories yesterday and am starting very slow with exercise because I am about 20 lbs heavier than my highest weight now. I am doing fine today (except tinkling all the time because of the water increase), and walked about 1/4 mile during my lunch hour (but ended up with some calf cramps from starting out too fast) Like I said I commit and then I tend to push myself past what I should because my desire is so strong.

Just a side note to anybody who lives in the south (I think that is the only place this is sold) and likes yogurt (sic?). The Blue Bunny Lite 85 is really good. It is fat free/ sugar free/aspartame free and yummy and I am not a huge fan of yogurt. I especially like the tropical and the pina colada. It is only 80 calories and makes a great filler snack especially for someone like me who hates milk and needs to get dairy in without a bunch of fat.

Well, I think I went on and on enough. Have a good evening ladies and I will talk with you all later.

Donna

Vickie J 10-02-2001 03:59 PM

Tues:

Exercise: 30 minutes
Vitamin: Down
Water: working on...

Breakfast: Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Lunch: 1/2 PB&J Sand, WoW chips, 2 LF Oreos

Hello Friends~
It's nice to be back in somewhat of a routine! I've missed hanging out with you all! Things are starting to settle down a little bit. I'm still hiding my Nephew out in a Motel.. but he'll be back to work hopefully next week and will be self sufficient again soon. He's here now doing laundry and will smuggle him out of here on my way to work before the hubbygets home. It's beautiful out today!
hate to go to work and waste it but .. oh well.

Amy: What's up girlfriend! Sounds like you are hanging in there and holding your own! Not that I ever doubted that for a minute!
Thanks for missing me :D !! You always make me feel so good! I still don't understand why you keep "sweatin" yourself on them grades.. you know you're gonna ace everything you attempt! But I'm alot like you in that aspect.. a perfectionist! You shoot for the best and settle for nothing less.. but that's a good thing and it's helping you achieve all your goals! get it girl! Are you in them 8's yet???

Donna: Nice to meet you as well! :p. Thanks foir a little history on yourself! Sounds like things are working out well for you now. Good for you. It has to be tough starting over, but it sounds as if you have a good man that won't let you down! They are hard to come by these days. How much weight are you wanting to lose anyway? It seems as if you have the right frame of mind to make things happen for you this time.. and with great support.. how can you fail???

Deb: Where are ya girl?

Did we lose Gerti along the way? I canceled my EDiets today.. so I'm glad you found this place Amy! It's pretty ironic... there are 3 girls in my family, Deb 39, Vickie 38, and Donna 36... and here we have 2 Vickie's, a Deb and a Donna :dizzy: !! Like a little reunion!
Anyhoo... I better get ready for work!

You all have a great day!
Think Thin!
See you back here tomorrow~
Vic

baskoflove 10-02-2001 05:31 PM

Vic- I want to lose about 200lbs. It will happen and since I put it on over 35 years I can take it off in a couple don't ya think? I know that fads are not for me. I have to learn to eat correctly!

Gotta go it is almost time to close up shop. Will try to get out more tomorrow.

Weigh to go to all the losers and the ones that haven't but are still in the race. It will come!

Donna ~ you can do anything you set your mind to... I am a prime example of that! It just takes time...

Vic ~ I am managing... I made a 94 on my Pharm test today, I have a Care-plan due in the AM and then I have Patho test on Thursday and a take home Math exam due on Friday.... GRRRR Yes sweetie... I am in them 8's but take into reason that they are Ladies 8's not junior 8's I am shooting for junior 8's (what a joke)... and 8 isn't an 8 if you can't fit into to the smallest one! HEHE :) I realize that juniors are suppose to be smaller but I can barely squeeze into a junior 10 and ladies 8's are loose (explain the math there?) Well I am hoping for your sake that DH doesn't find out about Darling Nephew..... Lordy- I would not want to be in your shoes... Have you had your tube thingy done yet? Missed alot of time with you in the past month... catch us up!

Vicki ~ Where are you!!!!! We get one back the other goes AWOL!

Guys I got to hit the hay... Early morning clinical! Will post tomorrow... Diet is back on track! :) I think!

Hugs,
Amy

Amy- hurrah for you and your terrific test score. How much school do you have to finish. Is it med or nursing? Size 8 huh? Well, I think I remember that size when I was about 10 or so. lol I just keep plugging along and it will come off.

Hope everyone else is coming along fine too!

Gotta go just wanted to peek in and say HI! We had to go out to eat last night and I was really nervous especially since the dh wanted Olive Garden. I had no bread, one serving of salad and pasta with marinara. I was jazzed. I usually eat tons of bread sticks, salad and fettucine alfredo with grilled chicken. I figure since I didn't have any meat yesterday, the dressing and the 2 olives in the salad probably were ok. I am still sticking to 1200 cal a day

:s: For some reason I don't get the login button at the bottom all the time, I've tried several times to post but I kept getting this message I'm not loggged in or not authorized.

Amy--Congrats on the Pharm test, you need to stop worrying so much as you always ace the tests. I know its easier said than done but we all have faith in ya and know you'll ace the tests and classes. Size 8 Juniors, huh??? boy if I could get into a 10 or 12 think I'd be happy even if it is a ladies. I'm sitting here typing this and I have like a dark plexiglass that separates my cube from the cube on the other side and I can see my spare tire and it is soooo
DISGUSTING and I know its all exercise. I tried the tae-bo on Sunday night and it was ok but he goes through the instructional tape with every move being on the right side and I was wondering about the left side but just as I was thinking this Billie Blanks made a statement that he wants you to get the technique down. I haven't had a chance to do it again since Sunday as I seem to be quite busy at night. Monday I took Chris to look for a stereo, he decided that with his bonus check he got from his job this summer he wanted to buy a stereo which is fine with me at least its not something junky he wants to spend the money on.
He did save all of his paychecks with the hopes of getting a car next year for his b-day. I had every intention of doing the tae-bo on Tuesday but I got a phone call from ex's girlfriend upset because he was mad at her for not being home at the time he wanted her home and he was working at his second job. Too long of a story to get into but I don't think they will make it. Last night I went to my little bar had a chopped antipasta salad with 3 Coors Lights and boy do I have a headache this morning. Oh well that's what I get!!!

Vic--Glad you're back, really missed ya. Hope hubby doesn't find out about your nephew. Will you tell hubby about nephew when he gets a job?? How are you doing otherwise, have you been back to the Dr. I sure hope we didn't lose Gertie, I sent her the email at the same time I did you and I haven't heard anything back. My hopes are that her son is doing ok. How's your little grandson doing by the way and oh yea how about your Mom how is she doing??

Food yesterday--

Breakfast--piece of entemann's crumb cake
coffee
some sliced cucumbers, didn't taste too hot

lunch-Chicken BLT salad from Wendy's w/blue cheese
25 oz water

dinner-chopped anti-pasta w/blue cheese
2 breadsticks
3 Coors Light Drafts

Today--
Breakfast - nothing yet just coffee

lunch--chopped antipasta w/blue cheese

Where's Vicki-MIA???

Hillary and Donna hope things are going well for you.

Good morning! Sorry - I've been crazy busy the past few days! Usually I still get time to get online every day, but I've been so tired that I just go straight to bed.

Donna - Sorry I missed your birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day!

Vic - Welcome! I'm glad you found your way over here. I was beginning to think you wouldn't. That's too weird - you need to adopt an Amy into your family now!

Why are you smuggling your nephew in and out? Why can't dh find out? I think I missed something here. Please fill me in...

Donna - Don't commit yourself too hard! You want to find something that you can maintain even through the bad times. It sounds like you are off to a great start.

Way to go at Olive Garden! I allow myself one piece of bread when we go there and then I make it last through the whole meal.

Amy - Congrats on the great score on your test! Good luck with the upcoming ones. Sorry about going AWOL! It certainly wasn't intentional. You are too funny - size 8 isn't good enough unless it's the smallest one, huh? You've come this far so I know you'll make those juniors.

I was excited since this week I got into my 16s for the first time in a very long time. The only bummer was that I thought they were my 18s so I thought I had grown because they were super tight. Then I saw my 18s on the floor and I started trying to dance a jig. That doesn't work so well when you have your bod crammed into a tight pair of pants. So I scraped them off and looked and yep, they were the 16s. Then I could dance a happy dance. My dog thought I was very strange, but then he joined in - jumping all over me!

OK, now to get back to posting my food -

yesterday:
breakfast - apple, banana, 1/2 cinnamon bagel with honey
lunch - leftover chimichanga with beef and chicken, roughly 1/2 cup
snack - fat free choc/vanilla pudding
dinner - Applebees stir fried chicken and veggies, 2 mozzarella sticks

exercise - lifted weights and stretched
water - 120 oz
vitamins - yes

I almost managed to not eat any mozzarella sticks last night, but my brother and hubby didn't eat them all, so they were just sitting there. I collapsed and ate them. I was still under 1600 cal & 37 fat according to fitday.com so yay!

Have a great day everyone!

- Vicki

Amyjo01 10-04-2001 12:29 PM

Hey Guys I am only going to stay a second (I always say that) -

Vicki - you sound like me (hehe) with the incidence with DH's blue jean... you start to freak because the pants are too small and then you realize (oh my gosh!!!!!!!!! look what I did!) You are doing so great! I have been behaving but not necessarily on my BEST behavior... I have had a couple of pieces of cheese cake this week because my sister-in-law made it for my birthday... they b'day cake they got me and my other sis-in-law was chocolate with chocolate icing... (didn't go there- so I was proud of myself)... my DH's family takes every possible chance there is at having a party with food- I have to just say NO!

Deb - Hun don't get back into it with that girl~~~~ she is such a flake! You should tell her and him your just not getting involved this time... she probably called you just to make she he hadn't called! :o Did I say that? sorry! Chris sounds like such a good kid... I am going through the boundary testing phase with BOTH of mine... and DD has decided she is starting to go through puberty (at 8)Give me a break! IF life wasn't stressful enough! :)
She wants me to buy her a bra... MMMM what I have to look forward to... and the problem it isn't her brother pestering her its her Dad, he gets the biggest kick out of picking on her(it is funny and he always tells her later he is just picking) but will he ever grow up?

Vic - how goes it?

Donna - I have been dieting since last November, I don't know if I told you that or not (the rest of the girls except for maybe Vicki knows my story).. I am a recovering Bulimic, when I finally went to councelling which was for depression not my eating disorder - i was around 170 and then decided to not diet(healthy or not healthy until I had a firm grip on my problem) well I was up to close to 190 when I decided I couldn't get any better grip on anything and if I waited much longer I was going to be in for a bigger battle than I already was. Well at 190 I was pushing to the top of a size 14... I am 5'8 and carry weight pretty good. But when I decided to diet in November I was at 182 + the 6 pounds that my scale doesn't show :) I managed to get to 176 just not eating but then in March I decide to join E-diets (which is where I met all of these wonderful ladies) and I have managed to get down to 145 + the 6 pounds my scale doesn't show :) and I have done it for the most part healthy... I don't starve myself and I don't take anything but vitamins and I have only slipped into my Bad state of mind a couple of time...when I reallllly badly binged... I am trying to get down to 130 which these last 15 pounds have been a real pain but I am trying! The scale hasn't gone up or down much in the past month ... but I am holding strong~! Oh yeah I am in Nursing.... I have 4 1/2 semesters left..

Well girls I have to get off of here I have a Patho test this afternoon :( grrrr... it never ends... I have to get a shower and get dressed.

Will post to ya tonight!

Hugs,
Amy

Vicki-How is the nukester? Those sticks were just crying out to you weren't they? They are ok, but the thickness of the cheese gags me sometimes. I scarf the hot wings! 16's....HIP HIP HORAAAYYYY! Way to go girl! I am shooting for 16's as a permanent size.

Amy- you never cease to amaze me with your test scores! Between your weight loss and your scores you are on top of the world kiddo.

I too am curious about the nephew. I know that being new I am probably out of the loop!

I am chugging right along. I did hit a rough spot last night and ate an extra piece of fruit so that I wouldn't dive into doritos or oreos or something!.

Wed:
Brk- 1/2 bagel, 1/2 tsp lowfat cream cheese, cup fresh fruit

Snack: fat free pudding

Lunch: 1/3 c diet conqueso with homemade baked chips (16)

Dinner: 1 1/3 c diet chicken waldorf salad, 1 c broccoli with butter buds

Snack: soft pretzel no salt no butter, mustard and a pear

72 oz water

Have a good day ladies and keep your chin(s) up!!!!!

Donna

 Happy Friday everyone---

Amy--don't worry I'm not getting too mixed up in their affairs, they are back together again thanks to me. I told her he and I
had been talking on the phone and she got really mad, called him up and now they're together again. The thing that gets me is the way she said she would not take him back, she was happy with out him and all this bull and just because I said we had talked she called him. Guess she was afraid he was start seeing me but truthfully I don't want anything to do with him as a boyfriend/girlfriend just to be friends and know that we can at least be civil to one another if we see each other out somewhere.

How did the test go, well I'm sure. I know what you mean about the kids testing you, even though Chris is good most of the time he does try to test me once in a while. We are going to my grand niece's first b-day tonight and then Chris has a football game in Belair MD tomorrow afternoon so that will take up most of the day.

Vicki-how's Nuke and his classes coming along??? Bet you and hubby are out riding with the weather being so nice, well it was a little chilly last weekend and suppose to rain overnight tonight and little tomorrow early am but hopefully it won't rain all day cause I sure don't want to watch a football game in the rain and I know you don't want to ride in the rain.

Vic--how's it going hun. You're MIA again hope hubby didn't find out about the nephew. If he does will he eventually understand why you did it, sure do hope so.

Well I better go, talk to you guys later.

Deb

Good day friendz~
Don't have a lot of time as I have to get to work here in a few minutes but wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and hoping you're all having a great weekend!
My nephew is driving me batty! As far as why DH is in the dark... well.. he is tired of bailing the world out. he said he was through doling $$$ for those who elect to screw their lives up with drugs etc. I don't blame him but at the same time find it hard to turn my back on family. My nephew took his own cast off his foot yesterday because he thinks it will heal faster.. I wanted to throttle him! he's now at the hospital waiting on Xrays to determine if he can start back to work on Mon. Hopefully he can!! I can only entertain him for so long! DH knows he's here now and hasn't thrown to big a fit. He doesn't realize I sent him the bus ticket, have paid for his motel room for 2 weeks (so far), bought his food and cigs. Should he ever find that out he will blow a gasket I'm sure. I've spent probably $700.00 on him since he's been here the past 2 weeks. Oh well... someday I may learn to turn my back.
My biggest regret about saving the day for everyone else... it leaves me no time to take care of the things I need to for myself. I don't eat like I should.. healthy that is.. I find myself eating junk and chocolate in stressfull situations. I don't exercise or drink the water I should.. alcohol seems to work better then the water when you're overloaded. I know that's stupid but where I'm at for the moment. Hopefully monday I will be free of the burdens of others for a minute! Yeah ..RIGHT! Another pain in the gazoo is the job he has.. it's concrete... and it is about 15 miles from here and starts at 6:30 am. He has no transportation and I can't afford a $20 taxi each way, every day so guess who will be getting up early til the first paycheck???? I'm finding myself getting very irritable.. can you tell???
I know I've done this to myself.. and "this too shall pass", but in the meantime it has me strung out and in need of a rest!
I better go so I can get to work on time. Life... what a concept!
I'll try to think "happy thoughts".. he'll be on his on SOON...

Don't let my negativity bring you down.. you're all doing great! I just wanted to let you know why I haven't been here like I should and that I AM still with you!

Big hug to you all~
Vic

baskoflove 10-07-2001 09:26 AM

Vic- Sweety, I know how very hard it is to let go but I think you are going to have to and probably soon. This kid/young man is playing you and knows he's got a good deal! Believe me, I know this one cause I been through it. My nephew experienced a trauma when he was sixteen (his dad blew his brains out in this poor kids bedroom). He quit school, drank and drank and coked and coked. His stepfather paid $10,000 to get him clean didn't work, he is now 35 years old, lives with his mom and stepdad still mooching, has to ride a moped to work because he lost his license due to a dui accident (one of many) has been in jail, goes on drug binges where he disappears for days and of course loses his job over it and on and on. I am not judging, but for heaven's sake just don't let him come between you and your spouse. Watch for the warning signs (more fighting between you and dh about this guy, YOU defending him over your husband etc) These are a couple things that could ruin your marriage and push you over the edge. I will say a prayer for all of you that things will get better.

We sure do have troubles in our lives that inhibit our desire to get ourselves healthy. I am putting all my best wishes for all of you into a big kiss and blowing it your way. You guys catch it and I hope you have a spectacular day. You are all doing so wonderfully! I am proud to be part of this group.

Love you all,

Donna

Amyjo01 10-07-2001 10:16 AM

Hey Donna ~ there is a little more to Vic's Nephew's story than she said... It hard when she was faced with the situation she was faced with. I understand the tough love practice your trying to persuade here but I can understand why she is doing what she is doing.... I don't know if she remembers or not but she sent us the whole story in an e-mail she didn't post it so she might not want me to go into it, so I wont, but she is doing the christian thing by helping this nephew- I don't think he is openly taking advantage of her (yet)... just depends on how he handles this cleaning up.

Vic ~ Hang in there sweetie! You definitely need some you time! Once Darling Nephew gets a check under his belt, does he realize that he is on his own? Is he clean(you know what I mean) - do you have to worry about him blowing his check? Donna's right in an instance you can't keep this up for long he is going to have to stand up for himself as soon as possible. It isn't that hard to drink your water Vic.... Eating healthy takes time but water is easy! So if you don't do anything else for yourself drink your water.

Deb ~ Lordy girl, you live in your own little soap opera! Who needs TV when you have those two.... This guys kid does he live with them? Gosh I hope not!

Well we are working on Mom-in-laws pond expantion this weekend so my arms and back feel like I have been moving tons of dirt... no wait... I have been moving tons of dirt....:) but it is going to be pretty.... Got to run! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hugs to all,
Amy

Please please don't see anything I said as a criticism to you, Vicki. I just know from experience that helping someone out for an extended period of time can turn on you. Please just take care of yourself well and I applaud you for taking this gentleman in. It takes a lot to take on someone else and their problems.

Amy-Thanks for setting me straight. I should have kept my big mouth shut. I just feel so bad for her because I have seen what can happen in my own life. Thank you for keeping confidences also!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. I feel yucky but am at work anyway. Well, everyone take care and have a good day!

BIKERCHICK 10-08-2001 10:18 AM

Good morning everyone! We took a trip down to New Jersey and then some this weekend. It was a lot of fun - here is the play by play. Now I need a nap!

Saturday morning I woke up at 4am. I couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up and showered at 5am. Then I was on the computer printing out directions and different things of interest that we might want to do over the weekend.

My brother called at 7am and was on his way over so I got hubby up. When db arrived, dh wasn't ready so we went to get breakfast and put gas in the car. When we got back, we ate breakfast and then left for the post office to pick up the GPS we had ordered. Then we left for Allentown, NJ. That's where dh lived until he was 14 and he wanted to go to his pizza place.

My db took over driving from dh after a couple of hours because dh wanted to play with his GPS. That's when db decided he wanted to drive through NYC so we could see the Manhatten skyline. So that's what we did. We stayed on the interstate all the way through and traffic was pretty good until we got to Staten Island. This was the first time I had ever been there so I don't know what the skyline looked like before, but db said that the WTC towers made the other buildings look small. From Staten Island we took the turnpike down to Allentown. We ate pizza at his pizza place and then he gave us the quick tour of town.

Next stop was 6 Flags where we had heard about a Safari where the animals come right up to your car. We arrived there at 4:10 and they closed at 4 so we had to wait until the next day. Then we weren't sure where we were going to go next. We decided on Atlantic City. I've always wanted to walk along the boardwalk there. We arrived just before sunset and walked along the beach for a ways until we got to a mall that was built out over the ocean. Then we watched the sun as it set down behind the skyline - it was beautiful. We walked back to our car and then left for Champps restaurant in Marlton, NJ. Dinner was very good. I think it's a good thing for my healthy eating that I don't live 15 minutes from Champps anymore. Their hamburgers and fries are so good! I was stuffed after that.

Next was a hotel somewhere on the way to Washington D.C. We started looking when we got to Baltimore. Then we hit a huge traffic jam. It was midnight! My db thinks it's because there was a ball game that had been played that night. On the way down to DC, once we got out of the traffic jam, we stopped at every exit and couldn't find any hotels. They were all completely full. So we decided to skip the DC tour and just head back north of Baltimore. By the time we finally found a hotel it was 4:30am. We slept in until 10:30 and then got up and went to the Safari.

The Safari was really cool. The meat eating animals were behind fences, but otherwise, the animals wandered around. We had camels and giraffes come up and look in the windows. Zebras and rhinos and cool things with curly horns were running next to us. Then, the monkey area was the coolest. They climb all over the cars. It was too funny! We had one swinging from our rear window wiper for a while. After we were done and got out to see if any damage was done, we noticed that one of them pooped on our roof!

We returned to dh's pizza place for lunch and then headed home. We got home around 10pm. Then we had to go gather our dog from dh's brother's house. Apparently he was being a troublemaker over the weekend.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

- Vicki

lildebdeb 10-08-2001 02:39 PM

:?: :?: Afternoon ladies, I'm going to try this once more. I posted this morning but lost it. Grrrrrrrrr

Vic--I wish I could say something or do something to make this thing with nephew better but I know I can't. Glad to hear hubby at least knows he is in the area but sure do hope he doesn't find out about you financing him. Just remember we are here when and if you need us and always miss your posts. Its so easy for us to give advice, knowing that what's said is easier said than done. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT!!! How's that grandson of yours doing getting big I bet, how old is he 2 or 3 right? I went to my great niece's 1st b-day Friday night and she was sooooo adorable just a happy little one. I also got suckered into watching her and her 4 yr old brother and 7 yr old sister but they are all so happy. I really don't mind as long as it doesn't interfere with my going to Chris' game and my nephew said he takes them to the local high school football game on Friday nights so that's cool. Now I just have to pray it doesn' rain on Saturday.
Chris' school is doing really well this year we have lost only 1 game and that was the very first one, only problem is Chris really doesn't get to play too much, in fact he didn't play Saturday at all.
He's just happy being able to say he's on the football team.

Amy--You ball of energy, always doing something. Thought you were mil's pond or did you and hubby stop because it was too hot?? No wonder you're down to a size 8, always doing something, school, kids, building pond maybe you some of the energy will rub off on me. I feel so tired and lazy and I know if I would get my butt in gear and start doing something I wouldn't feel so tired and lazy. I felt great when I was exercising..

Vicki--you're another one, so adventurous(sp) going through NYC, Jersey and down to Washington, DC. I do know that Cal Ripken who plays for the Baltimore Orioles was playing his last game ever Saturday night at Camden Yards and by the looks of the stadium Sat night its no wonder you couldn't find a hotel room. I'm sure people from all over travelled here to see him play his last game, watching the pregame and part of the game it was really a tear jerker at least for me. He was one personable guy, listen to me sounds like I met him before but "No" I haven't.
I was travelling down 95 south Saturday afternoon on my way to Chris' football game which was around Aberdeen, Maryland. I thought they said people were staying home but from the traffic going south I don't think so. May be they aren't flying or taking trains but they sure are driving and lines to pay the tolls coming back around 5 PM, boy am I glad I have the EZ Pass or else I would have had to sit for about 20 min in lines.

Donna-hope you're feeling better. I lost my post this morning when I did the back arrow so I could read what you posted and lost my whole posting, ediets I could go back and forth without losing the post I was typing. Oh well now I know better.

I think I'm going to send Gertie another email to see if I can get a reply back from her. I really miss her and hope everything is alright with her son. I thought she was going to follow us here hopefully she's just busy and will be back with out shortly. Amy, does she ever reply to any of your messages???

I did get a little exercise on Saturday, the football field was about 1/4 mile from the parking lot then when I got to the gate I didn't have my money to get so I had to go back to the car (boy that was a task and showed me just how out of shape I really am) to get the money then walk back down. Like I keep saying my food is ok as long as its not TOM which it is and I am craving choc like crazy but otherwise I really do watch what I eat. I just need to get up and exercise and I know I'd start losing again. Really wish you guyz were here to physically kick me in the butt to get me moving.

Well I guess I have posted long enough.

Food for today--

Breakfast--coffee and pretzels

lunch-water, small chili and small garden salad from Wendy's

snack--low carb bar and water

dinner-not sure yet

Bye friends, prayers are with you all.

Deb

baskoflove 10-08-2001 02:58 PM

You ladies do get around! All on the east coast looks like!

I am so glad you have had a great weekend.

Deb, I do feel a bit better. It is women stuff. You know that drill! I kept thinking yesterday laying in bed dying, men are so lucky, not only do they not have this crap BUT WE WORK NOW TOO! Where is the justice in that?

Really I am fine, about every quarter, I have a bad bout. My body wants to sit on the fence and deny me the end of menopause!

Well l better go, it has been nuts, nuts, nuts here today. I have felt like an octopus trying to get everything done and answer phones too.

Have a great day ladies. The sunshine is out here and it is beautiful today.

Donna

BIKERCHICK 10-09-2001 09:13 AM

Good morning!

Deb - Aberdeen was where we finally found a hotel! How weird is that!? I was in the same town as you with in 24 hours of when you were there. I remember my brother saying something about someone's last day in whatever sport was playing that night. Can you tell how much I follow sports? LOL!

It was also a holiday weekend so I'm sure some of the hotels were full just for that.

Donna - The octopus reference gave me quite the mental picture! LOL! Thanks!

It's going to be a tough night exercise wise. I normally go to karate on Mondays because we have dog class on Tuesdays and the two in the same night is difficult. Well, karate was cancelled last night because of the holiday so now I have to go tonight to get my two nights a week in. Dog class is from 5-6 and since it's agility class, I run full speed at least 2 courses. The rest of the time we are walking. I'm wiped after this. Now tonight I'll have karate from 7-8 and the only thing that I can hope for is that it is an easy night of forms or self-defense techniques. I'm hoping for something that isn't cardio or muscle intensive. In either case, I will be sleeping well tonight!

Have a great day everyone!

- Vicki
