Revision to today's plan: the broccoli and lima bean soup I had planned for lunch was vile :barf: . I managed to force half of it down and got a baked chicken breast without skin from the store for the rest of my lunch. The plus side is, the extra protein from the chicken has filled me up good.

Not sure what I'll be doing for lunch the rest of the week though, that soup is going in the bin soon as I get home .

Glory87 07-24-2006 01:05 PM

Sorry, I had to laugh - I can't imagine broccoli and LIMA BEAN soup being good! That sucks though that your lunch option isn't going to work for the week!! Good work getting the healthy chicken breast and not going for a less healthy, easier option! Flexibility when things go offplan is so important :)

sotypical 07-24-2006 01:09 PM

yah me either, that just sounds soooo gross. I havent have lima beans in ages, but when I was little I remember hating them so much I swolled them whole.

LynneA 07-24-2006 03:02 PM

You know, the recipe in the book just sounded so yummy! I love broccoli and lima beans and wasn't at all worried about how they would taste together. The problem, I believe, lay in the broth. The recipe called for 2 tbls of soy sauce in 4 liters of chicken broth with some seasoning and that was about it for the soup base. My god, I've not tasted anything that awful in a long time . Still, got to try new things!

I've got backup for the rest of the week: tuna salad. My pepper plants in the garden went nuts this week and I got 5 big green bell peppers off them and I've got a bag of romaine that I didn't use this weekend in the fridge.

Ugh, broccoli and lima beans, never again!

Hi guys,
Glory directed me here because I'm a silly bear and posted for last week's monday. Do you guys eat the same thing every day all week???

srmb60 07-25-2006 08:16 AM

Hi Holyteror! Nope, we eat all kinds of good things. In fact we look at each others foods for inspiration.
Usually someone starts the next days thread in the evening before or early that day. Is there a Tuesday thread yet?

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I tend to eat a lot of the same food because I live alone and it's hard to make single portions. If I buy a loaf of bread, I'll probably eat a lot of toast since I don't want it to go bad. For example, this week, I bought a big bag of cherries, so I'm going to eat cherries every day until they're gone. I made pasta sauce on Monday night, I'll have it for 2 nights and then freeze the rest. I made salmon salad on Monday, I'll have it for 2 days, etc etc. I do tend to eat a lot of the same stuff in a week!
