--Cuban mojito marinade (we've had on grilled veggies, fish, and chicken) --a bag of yams that are all cut up and ready to be microwaved in the bag --organic high fiber o's cereal --boxed soups (butternut squash, red pepper and tomato, and sweet potato) Some non-Trader Joe's things I've been enjoying lately: --spinach salad with strawberries, feta, and balsamic vinegar --fruit salad with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries (the prices are getting a little lower on berries lately) --homemade baked whole wheat pita chips with hummus (cut up a pita, spray with cooking spray and bake for 10 minutes) Courtnie--let me know if you think about getting a Boston terrier! They are a fabulous breed! I can tell you all about Gordie...I just love talking about him and am obsessed with Boston terriers in general! A great place to learn about the breed is on the other forum that I read regularly, woofboard.com. |
I would love to hear about all about Gordie! Like I said my gramma has one, her name is Cloey and she is kinda fat, haha. Super cute tho and lots of fun except for when she snorts and farts. :)
|
Gordie is definitely a great companion. He's got so much personality and he is really smart. He absolutely loves meeting people and playing with just about any dog who will pay attention to him! He easily switches from being super active to super mellow depending on the situation.
Gordie is actually helping me in my weight loss...I take him for 4 walks a day, so depending on how long we decide to go I get in anywhere from 1-2 hours of walking a day. Also, he helps me eat healthier. I'll share healthy foods with him but won't give him any unhealthy ones. He loves things like cucumbers, peppers, blueberries, spinach, and oatmeal. |
Haha I didn't know dogs would eat all that! I know mine wouldn't! Actually my yellow lab used to pick the carrots and strawberries out of the garden and eat them! That is part of the reason I want a doggie, so I can take him for walks and such. My parents have a yellow lab, if I lived closer I could just go steal him (and never give him back!) haha

Wow it sounds like everyone is doing great this week. I weigh in tomorrow I can not wait. Last week I did not lose anything, but at least I did not gain anything. Have to look on the bright side of things right?!!!!
I had to cancel my trip to so I am hope to go in sept. My family does not know I have been trying to lose weight so I hope to surprise them when I see them. I have not seen most of them in over 3 years. I want to lose about 30 to 40 more pounds by then with a total of 70 since my mom and dad have seen me. But if I do not get down that far that is okay becuase I have already lost 20 and that is a big number for me. New food I have been trying is tofu. I have been trying to make it in different ways. It really fills me up. |
Never really been brave enough to try the tofu thing...
|
I have never tried tofu... I am a picky eater and need some new things to try...
|
I find that with tofu it's really important to press the water out of it before cooking it. When I make it I cut the block in half the long way and put it between two plates lined with paper towels. Then I put something heavy on top of the plate, like a 28 oz. can. I put the whole set up in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes. I learned this trick from my friend...I always liked it when she made tofu but never liked it when I made it. The draining makes a big difference in the texture! Oh, and I prefer the kind that DOESN'T say "silken" on the package. I find that silken tofu has a more slippery texture.

ok I need to know what does it taste like?
|
ive never ever tried tofu!! Im too afraid as well. Im VERY picky too and things that look different, I wont even try. My mom used to get so mad at me about that lol.
Sorry Rosario about your trip. I love plane rides, but not in a storm!! Atleast this way you can lose more weight!!!!! Tomorrow is my W.I...ill let ya'll know then how I did! |
Tofu honestly doesn't have much of a taste...it pretty much just picks up the taste of whatever you have it with. My friend once made me a pretty simple tofu dish--she sauteed tofu and broccoli in some soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic--I really liked it that way. I actually don't have tofu very much--I need to figure out some new ways to have it!

I need new ideas for tuna... mmmmmm

I have tomorrow off, I'm gonna sleep :) Courtnie - congrats on the weight loss :) Rosario - at least you'll have some more time to lose weight before you go.. I always wanna lose as much weight as I can before I go back to my hometown. I am going home in 10 weeks.. I'm so glad I decided to join this thread :) I really enjoy you gals! Sorry I can't post more, I gotta get out and exercise before I fall asleep! -Aimee |
doesn't tofu taste kind of like egg whites?? I've had it in asian style soups and that's what it tastes like to me.
my new food isn't as exotic sounding as all of yours...lol. it's cottage cheese. I have never liked it until I actually tried it. tastes almost like cream cheese. aimee-i hope you get your rest so you don't get sick. courtnie-i love tuna. i actually need to buy some because the bf's mom always buys it packed in oil and yuck. i hate that one. I love it packed in water. there really isn't much you can do with it though? randee-good luck today. i'm actually scared what my scale said this morning and last night. at least my next WI isn't until Monday. |
