Default Somebody, ((Yes that means you, lol)) Gimme a NEW Diet!!!

Okay, I wanna lose some weight. I've been doing modified Atkins until lunch today, I just went on in April and lost weight on strict Atkins before. But today I gradually ate "regular" I want to eat regular or near it to lose, I can't take pills, eat loads of protein for the rest of my life! And I love to eat, it soothes me, tastes sooooooo good, I love the textures and its a part of living to me. Come on, any and all suggestions are good. Tell me why your diet is "THE" One and how to do it. Help a FAT Chick out!! Thanks.

Nobody is going to be surprised if I tout calorie counting. You can eat anything as long as you are willing to take responsibility for it when it adds in.
Have a look at the Calorie Counter KISS thread. Those gals are doing pretty well.

Sounds like any of the following would be good for you:

counting calories
Sonoma
Mediterranean-- begin with Sonoma if the adjustment is too big

I don't think there is a 'ONE and only' way to reach our goals. There are many plans because people's lifestyles and what they are willing to do are so different.

I basically follow Mediterranean but that is because it fits my lifestyle and family cuisine. Its perfect for me ...

Counting calories. That is the only way for me. Being allowed to have anything you want to eat, as long as it stays within a calorie limit, is the way to go. I can't deprive myself of carbs and stick to it for more than a few days.

Stop dieting! Make permanent changes. It's common sense what those changes should be--more fruits, veggies, lean meats, low-fat/fat-free dairy, lots off water, and whole grains. Just watch your portion sizes, and your calories should fall into a low enough amount for you to lose weight. To be sure, keep track of everything you eat in a journal or online program (fitday, nutridiary, etc.). If you want to lose weight and get healthy, stop dieting and just make smart choices

I'm with Jill! Diet don't work because most people can't live with them for life. Change your LIFESTYLE and you should be able to maintain it forever.

Counting calories is the way I go. I can't imagine anything else.

I am right there with Susan. Instead of a "diet" make changes you can live with for the rest of your life.

Eat Less; Move More

Calorie counting rocks.

permanent lifestyle change, but you've gotta keep track of those calories - that's the whole energy balance thing in a nutshell - you know this,

Calories in > calories "out" = weight gain and fat storage
Calories in = calories "out" = maintenance
Calories in < calories "out" = weight loss

I'm big on watching your portions. If I keep my portions down, and only eat until I feel comfortable - not stuffed - I lose. I think calorie counting is terrific also, I'm just not that disciplined. Maybe I should be....

Stop thinking of it as a diet. If you plan to start and then stop and resume "normal" eating at some point you probably won't keep any lost weight off.

I feel exactly as you do. So I concentrate on making healthy choices and enjoying my food. I found herbs and seasonings that my family and I like alot and use those on all the meats I do eat. I try to eat more veggies, fruits, lean meats, and whole grains. If I do want to eat something "bad" like homemade mac & cheese, I try to make better choices like using skim milk and low fat cheeses and barilla plus pasta. Plus I watch my portions on those "bad" foods.

I calorie count for the most part. But I do try to make healthy choices as my first priority. This allows me to eat an occational meal out and not feel guilty about it. (Now the 2 margaritas I had last night is a different story. )

Just look around here and you'll get tons of good advice and information.

Hi, I am new here. I have been reading everyone's posts for awhile and am amazed by how inspired I am by all of you. I have spent most of my adult life gaining, losing and gaining and slowly watching my weight creep higher and higher. I have tried almost every diet out there and have always gained my weight back, plus some. Last August, I found the 3 Hour Diet and decided to give it a try. Eating small meals every three hours has been an absolute miracle for me. I don't follow the actual 3 Hour plan because I need to count calories rather than figuring out portion sizes as the book does. So, my plan invoves eating three 400 cal meals and two 100 cal snacks. I also allow myself another 100 cal snack after dinner if I need one. I write everything down and am so excited to have found Fit Day through the 3FC forums. I love how it tracks everything I do, very cool! I have lost about 20 lbs and have maintained it but want to lose some more. I have just had a rather large set back of emotional eating due to my youngest going through the college application process. However, I am back on track and for me that is huge! I have never, in my life, gone over to the "dark side" and been able to return so I am feeling good. I am weighing this morning so will post my current and goal weights later. I know I gained from sitting on the couch and eating ice cream from the carton with a spoon, but I am prepared for whatever the scale says and plan to simply move forward. I am trying to understand why it is at those times in my life when I should be taking extra care of myself I think I need to eat ice cream and sees candy instead of going out for a walk!!?? Anyway, sorry this is long and maybe it is in the wrong thread, but I wanted to share what has worked for me. I happy to have found all of you!

I think I have tried every gimmick there is out there over the years. I agree

with the gals that say portion control. Counting calories work for many but I

don't have the patience for that. My favorite plan that has worked well for me

in the past, and that I have just started on again is the Reader's Digest,

Change One Plan.I found the book in the library and it has helped so much.

You change one thing at a time.First breakfast,then lunch,then snacks,then

dinner. You have choices:Breakfast consists of 1 cup cold cereal or 1 cup hot

cereal or 1 slice bread, then you can have fruit and milk. It's so easy to follow.

They do have a website but I think you have to join to get any info.

Hope this suggestion helps you out. Stay on this board and you will get lots

of help and plenty of support. Everyone here is great and they are in the

same boat so they understand where you are coming from.

GOOD LUCK!!!! This might help. DONNA

Looks like my word wrap is having problems again. Sure wish I understood these computers better. Sorry, I know it makes it hard to read.
