Height and size buddies
 

I thought it would be nice for people to post their height, weight, and current size, so that we can buddy up with people in the same range. I like to know what people who are around my height weigh and what size they wear. It lets me know where I'm going or where I've come from. I know, I know everyone is different, but we can get a general idea how we'll look at a certain weight or size. Hope someone wants to join.

Height: 5' 5"

Size: 8-10 pants, sm-med top

I seem to be staying at this weight regardless of how well I do with my eating, so I'm getting adjusted to the idea that this may be where I'm going to stay. I'm about to join a new gym, and I'm very excited about shaping up. Since I'm in my 40's, and have had three kids, I have lots and LOTS of jiggly parts. Since plastic surgery's not in my foreseeable future, this will have to do.

Thats the truth, Jill. I am "small" for what I weigh. People usually guess 140, and I just say.. " Sure" :lol3:

I always thought 14, 16 were plus size? I know when I was wearing them I had to go the plus size section to find them. Even now, I dont see them in the juniors dept. Maybe Im wrong.

Edit: to say.. are they in the Womens Dept?? I totally forgot about that section.. For me its always been Plus or Juniors, cuz I dont do the "womens" dept. Too... grown up for me ;)

Wow! I hope I'm a size 8 at 168lbs! Which, really, I know I won't be. I think I was a size 13 at 170, so , there you go. But maybe since I am exercising now, and wasn't then, my 170 will look more like 160 or 165. (?) hoping so!

Great idea! I'm 5' 5", 163.5 lbs., a size 12 in pants, and a size large in shirts at places like Old Navy or Gap (I pretty much live in t-shirts from Old Navy).

I am 5'2" 203 pounds. I wear a size 16/18 (I guess it is plus) and usually about a 1X for tops.

I'll join this, I am 5'4" and weigh in at 173 pounds. I wear 16/18 sometimes I can wear a 14 pants but it really depends on who makes it. and I think most of my t-shirts are a large.

I am new at posting in the threads, before I just looked around for a few weeks, and I have noticed it is incredible the difference in size when two people are the same weight. I know before when I was 'skinny' I wore a size 10 and my hip bones were stopping me from getting any smaller. I am not going that thin again but I just need to shed a little to get the weight off my knees.

Cool. so me and the 5'5" girls are on the kinda on the same track. Well, since my goal is 150lbs, anyone ever been that weight who is around 5'5". or is anyone a size 9 who is 5'5"? I figure I should be a size 9/10 at 150.

I weighed 135 pounds and am 5'4" when I fit into a size 10.

I´m 5´4" and 139...I wear a 38 or 40 (around US size 8???). Anyone with similar stats?

I checked my drivers license to see how tall I was… can I go by that instead? It says I am 5’1.5” and that I weight 174 pounds, lol. I like that number better :) I think the people who gave me my license was trying to get on my good side, lol.

When I was 162 lbs I bought a dress to go to a wedding. It was a size 14.

Juniors are generally odd numbered sizes (5, 7, 9, etc.) and typically only go up to a 13 (some places have up to 15, I believe, but not all). Misses sizes are the even numbered sizes (4, 6, 8, etc.) and usually go up to a 14 or 16 (though places like Express, I believe, only go up to like a 10 or 12), though some, like Old Navy, go all the way up to 20. Women's are Plus Sizes--they generally start at either 14, 16, or 18, but these 14, 16, and 18 are NOT the same as a Misses 14, 16, and 18 (just to make matters worse :dizzy: ). Women's sizes tend to be a bit more generously cut in certain areas like in the hips, so someone who wears a 16 in Women's would probably still be an 18 or even 20 in Misses. Being in that little overlap part is HARD--sometimes the smallest Women's clothes are too big, yet the biggest Misses are too small :devil:

If your clothes have a size that ends in an even number (i.e., 3/4, 7/8, etc.), it is 99% likely to be a Misses size, not a Juniors. Juniors usually only have the odd number on the tag. Juniors also tend to be a little slimmer in cut than Misses, so if you wear a 5/6 in Misses, you won't necessarily fit into a 5 in Juniors :devil:

To make matters worse, some places (like Walmart) have started making things like "Junior Plus" or "Misses Plus" where the sizes go up to higher numbers (like 24), but that 24 will be cut slimmer than a Women's 24, so I have to wear a 24 in those sizes at Walmart, but a 22 in Women's sizes :dizzy:

So yeah, it's no wonder we get confused and can never find things that fit right :p

Yeah I dont think Id be an 8 if it wasnt for stretch denim ;) And is a size 8 a womens size I bought em in the womens department. Im confused.

Over the summer, I had worked really hard to lose weight for a cruise I was going on with my family, and I was down around 150/151 then (I'm 5' 5"). I fit comfortably into size 10 jeans...and even tried on some 8s, which were snug. Unfortunately, I gained a lot of that weight back...I'm back in size 12 now. But, I'm back on track and looking forward to those size 10s again!

Any tall girls out there? I am 6 foot - 236 pounds and wear 18 or 20. I would love to hear from other tall girls because I usually have to buy pants a size larger so I can wear them low on my hips so they will be long enough. Uggg.

Yes, the awful women’s clothing sizes game! It’s so hard to predict what size you might need if you’re shopping someplace you’re not accustomed to.

I’m 5’4’’, 176 lbs and just starting to fit into some 14 pants at Old Navy, but I’m probably still a 16 in a lot of other brands. For reference I was an 18/16 around 205 lbs. In shirts I’ve moved down to XL from XXL in button downs and I can wear a L in most T-shirts or even a M sometimes.

When I make it down to 140 territory I’d be very happy with a size 8.

I'm 5' 5" and 155 lbs. I am wearing mostly 8's and have a few size 6 jeans. I can't wait to get back into my size 3/4's. I was in a 3/4 at 135. I seem to be small for my weight as well.

Yey! That's pretty good news to me, that maybe i can be in a 10 at the end of all of this madness. so how much do you weigh now? i wouldnt mind being a 12 either, as a second choice.

I am 5'6 and 178 lbs. My 14s are really baggy but my 12s are still a little too snug at the waist (this darn tummy!)

I'm 5'8", 255 pounds, and wear a size 16-18. Some are plus, some are not, i have an older pair of GAP jeans (I hate their jeans since they changed them), they are a size 16. XL on top.

wildlifebio - I'm not really THAT tall, but I don't have pants I can only wear with flats, otherwise they look too short.

I'm 5'6" 154 lbs and I can comfortably wear size 9/10 pants and medium tops unless they're really fitted then I like a large. I'm aiming for size 8 at 140.

yeah, size 7/8 and 140 was my original goal, but i changed it cause i might look too skinny at that size

Someone mentioned their "driver's license" weight. Mine says 110 pounds. I always joke that the number on your driver's license is your goal weight! However, mine is a little low for that for me. The funny thing about the weight on my driver's license is that when I first got my license, I was too embarrassed to tell them that I was only 100 pounds and so I lied and told them 110. Now they ask me if I'm still 110 pounds and I usually say "okay"....funny how things change, huh?

That was me who said about my driver's license the weight thing is... I didnt weight that when I got my license I only got it last june. So I have NO idea where they got that number from because they sure never asked me. lol
