  • Do some research on the internet about nuts and the prevention of heart disease. Studies have indicated that a serving of nuts every day (1/4 cup or 1 oz serving size) may reduce the chance of heart disease by 30-50%.

I eat a serving of nuts every day, because for me it's not just about losing weight and keeping it off - I choose foods based on long term health and disease fighting. Tomatoes for cancer, blueberries for the brain, spinach for eyes, whole grains for cholesterol lowering, salmon, sweet potatoes, yogurt and citrus! What I eat now keeps me slender and will keep me healthy.

I'm a big fan of long term health! (all of my grandparents died very early of either diabetes, cancer or complications of alzheimers, I have some bad genes to counteract).
  • Good point, Glory. Thank you for pointing that out. I just ate an avocado for a snack a few hours ago, and when I went to right in down and looked in my calorie counter book, I found out that it has 324 calories and 30 grams of fat!!! I FREAKED! lol But I know that avocados are healthy, as are the peanuts that I've been eyeing and trying to resist all day...lol. I LOVE peanuts! Thanks for the info about them. I am going to go read about their benefits right now.
  • Everyone is different. If I eat 1500 calories per day I don't lose any weight. You have to find out what works for you and keep going with that.

  • Blah! You guys were right. My weight loss has stalled! lol I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about. In fact, it was the day after I posted the thread that I stopped losing. I'm getting discouraged now, but I'm trying to stick to it.

Jay, why don't you lose on 1500? Do you eat more or less??? Obviously, 1500 isn't working too well for me either.
