Default Ugh, I'm disgusted!

I ate so much yesterday, had to be well over 2000 calories and I feel disgusted with myself. I stepped on the scale this morning and I didn't gain anything, but I didn't lose anything either. I feel so bad about myself that I feel like it's making me physically feel sick and I don't want to eat anything. I guess it seems like I'm making myself feel sick so I don't eat anything?

I don't know what to do, but I just feel awful about myself, this is my first screw up since I've started getting serious about my weight loss. And while it doesn't make me want to quit dieting or anything like that, it's doing the opposite, making me not want to eat much at all so I won't mess up again.

Any words of advice/support would be greatly appreciated

At least you only screwed up this once. Being on seroquel, if I do not get myself far far away from our kitchen after I take it... I can easily eat like 2000+ calories. That's how I put on 20 of the pounds I have to lose. Anyway, if you are really worried about it, just do some sort of extra exercise today and be extra good. I know how much it sucks to binge and then feel like crap afterwards, trust me.

Dont let this beat you up. I know you feel like this will screw you up but the only way it does is when you think about it all the time and worry.
Dont worry ! Its alright you know it was wrong and you know you either ate the wrong things or just to much. Just learn from that and remind yourself next time what ever you did to not to do that again.
If it was you were out and didnt make the right choices remember this feling and dont do it again.
We all have these days. We understand. But when you start to learn from them and try to make sure that your not making the same mistakes that you did then thats when its starting to click. Thats when you are on your way to a more healthy lifestyle. But if you do it day in and day out then your not ready. You dont want to change. But you understand its wrong and you know you need to change then thats what counts.
Dont beat yourself up and dont put yourself down. Everyone has done this and understands what your feeling. Pick yourself up and make yourself feel better. Get back in your routine and work out have a great plan for a great eating day and stick to it. Thats how you make yourself feel better.
Stay Strong and keep your head up you are all you got to make it thru these times. Take care and Remember we are going to have these moments its alright.

Haleys,
you caught yourself on time and you are using your support networks to get back on track, so it sounds to me like you are taking action. Just the fact that you aren't giving up on yourself when it's difficult to stay on your plan is a success in my book!

I'll share my own main goal with you cause I think it's relevant: My goal is to be kind to myself throughout this weight loss process (*and in general*).
So, I try to limit the self flagelation and forgive myself.
You don't have to be perfect. Dust yourself off, brush the crumbs off and get back on track. One bad day does not undo all your effort and changes you've worked to make. If this were easy we'd all be lingerie models already.

If you are feeling like not eating (I go through this too) don't give in to that either. It's not healthy and it's not the message you want to give yourself. Instead make an extra effort to eat some healthy wholesome meals. I usually get some salad, fruit or yogurt, something light but healthy that keeps me going. This way you are showing that you forgive yourself for a less than great day and are still nourishing your body and keeping with your goals!

Good luck!!! I hope you have a fantastic week!

I totally agree! Everyone has bad days, it's all about whether you bounce back or let it spiral out of control. You made great steps getting back on track, and turning to support when you're vulnerable, sounds like you've got the key to success!

Good luck!!

An important thing to remember is that you can't really gain much real weight in a day. If you go on a binge, you would have to eat 3500 calories more than your body burns in a day in order to gain a pound, so you would have to eat well over 5000 calories! Any additional weight you notice when you step on a scale the morning after a binge or just a bad day in general is more likely water weight from the additional food. Just hop back on track with the healthy foods and lots of water, and that should come right back off (or help you to even see a little loss instead of maintenance). I know I, for one, have a very hard time eating properly on weekends and often end up about 2-3 pounds heavier when I weigh myself on Monday morning, but by Wednesday or Thursday, that plus some is gone again, so I know it's more than likely just the added sodium of eating out that has caused me to retain more water. Try not to weigh yourself after a bad day--it can be very depressing and discouraging to see a higher number than what you'd expected, and it's not always easy to rationalize it even if you do know it's just mostly water. It's the big picture that matters--your progress in a week, a month, 3 months--not your weight on a daily basis
