Unhappy In need of encouragement :(

I'm in desperate need of some encouragement. I have been seriously trying to lose weight for over a month now. I was doing really good there for a few weeks, but then came my TOM and then we went on vacation and everything has kinda went downhill from there. I came back from vacation refreshed and motivated but then I hit a rut. I went out to eat today with my son to one of those fast food seafood restaurants and was so disgusted with myself. I was sitting there with all this greasy food in front of me and I literally got sick. I ended up wasting almost the entire meal, but I don't understand why I ordered it in the first place??? I really want to lose this weight but I cant seem to stay motivated. Any advice?????

Rome wasnt built in a day.

And neither can we re-program our brains in a day (or even a month!)

Eating and being healthy is a life-long lifestyle change and as such don't expect it to happen quickly. You're doing great as it is! A healthy life isnt about deprivation, so if you go out occaisonally don't beat yourself up for it. Just enjoy it, then move onto the next day.

As for some motivation, that can be a rather personal decision. No externally imposed motivation will last for you, it has to be something from within yourself that ignites your passion. In my case it was to be able to run and run and run and ENJOY it. Another was to be able to wear a size 12 (I'm now an Aussie 8, so I really made that goal lol). But most of all, my own motivation was to love myself and make peace with myself. I didnt want to hate myself any longer, and as such I decided things had to change and thats been my motivation ever since.

It is hard to keep going. I think Livi had some great advice about loving yourself and making peace with yourself. Why don't you join the ten day challenge thread. It would be a great start for you. Just pick one thing you are going to concentrate on to change yourself for the better and commit to doing it for ten days. Post your progress in the thread. Don't be too hard on yourself, just keep on keeping on.
