  • CRAP...Syn, do you remember what thread the hot cocoa is on???
  • I have one! This is from FlyLady...there are some great gift ideas at her site too: www.flylady.net

    FlyLady's Mocha Mix

    powdered milk, 24 oz
instant coffee (decaf or regular), 8 oz
Nestles Quik chocolate milk powder, 16 oz

Pour together into a mixing bowl. Stir with a spoon. If you use a less expensive/coarser powdered milk, you can put all of it into a food processor or blender and mix it better. I have even used the Hazelnut instant coffee and it is great too.

To Use: Scoop out 1/4 cup into a mug. Add one cup hot water and stir.

I'm going to run out now to see if I can find some nice jars or maybe some cute mugs.

    Ho Ho Ho!

  • WE WON !!!! WE WON !!!
OKLAHOMA SOONERS won today 77- 0 against Texas A&M
I know it sounds like we ran the score up... but we even played the third string and won that bad.
Last year they beat us so it was an honor victory too.

I want to officially welcome SaraJoy home again. Welcome
Where have you been... what have you been doing... Why did you leave us ???
I sure hope you stay around this time.

Okay... lets see if I can reply to a few of you.
Joanne/Homebound... Congratulations on reaching Twoterville. What an accomplishment.

Tina... WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU ??? Do you have caller ID ?? Some Okie tried to call you today.

Pam... how was the birthday party ?? I am proud of you for passing on the cake.

Kat.. I remember all too well car problems. (Knock on wood) I have not had any for several years. You can use that leaf raking to take out your anxiety on. You get several benefits from one action. Stress relief, exercise, burn calories, makes your lawn look good.

Lucky... I agree... most things are good in MODERATION. BUT...I got gout once and while reading up on it... Caffeine contributes to gout... so you may want to still stay away from it.
If I can find the article I mailed to my sister... I will send it to you too. IT HURTS !!!

Barb... Poker until 3am. I remember when we used to do that all the time. It sure was fun. My parents would come stay with us every Friday night (they set up at a big flea market here then) and we played penny annie poker every Friday. Those are some good memories.

Syn... I think my response to Lucky was meant for you. If you did not read it... go back. LOL
Your mixes all sounded soooo good, thanks for sharing. Great gift ideas... Another good gift for little girls are dress up clothes.

Terri...I have to agree 100% with you.... company only comes when the house is not clean. I am doing better since moving into our new house. My daughter even paid me a compliment today concerning my messy house. She said... "This is the first time this house has looked lived in" I took that as a compliment. LOL
Your NYC trip sounds awesome !! I want to go to NYC some day... but NOT with my husband. He is a total party pooper. He hates crowds... unless it is in a casino. LOL

Michelle... I want to see those photos of Andrew !!! You better send them to me !!!

Mary.. I hate that you are having computer problems. Grrr I hope you get them straightened out soon.

Duckie... I am glad you like your TOPS group. It really helps to keep that inspiration going. I am sooooo happy you posted your picture that one day. I would forget what you looked like as seldom as you post. LOL

Jen... Will you be back in the states around April ???

Andria... You haven't posted in a while... I can't remember what you wrote now.

Thin... hope you are having fun on your mini vacation and mystery dinner.

Tina, Sara, Susie... we haven't heard from you since 11-3.... you better check back in and tell us you are alive.

Lucky... I hope you and Mary are not contagious. LOL

Who is in charge of the Xmas list this year?? I have a new address and I don't want to miss out on the card exchange.

Okay... that is a wrap. I am going to go check out those photo albums of Terri's.
    See you all tomorrow.
  • Terri... you photos were great !!!
My husband and I used to fish at Stockton lake every weekend the first year it opened. The fishing was GREAT !!!!

  • Hey ladies,

Just popping in to say Hi! I wasn't able to post yesterday, as I took Andrew to a birthday party and then to my brother's house. Didn't get home until 9pm.

Food has been so-so. I have been stressing and that is never a good thing for me.

I did exercise yesterday and today did a lot of housework. The babysitter is coming over to watch Andrew while I get some work done upstairs. I am going to do filing, organizing, etc...

Well, got to run. Will post longer tomorrow.

  • Hey everyone

I've been pretty laid up with this stupid cold. I think the worst of it is over, but as typical for me, as everything begins to dry up, my lungs get pretty unhappy. I've been having nasty coughing fits in the middle of the night, even with OTC meds. Makes sleep about impossible. Anyway, I tried to do a few things, but for the most part I've been a slug on the couch rereading a book and napping when possible. If I end up coughing that hard again tonight, I'm making an appt. with the doctor to make sure it isn't turning into something worse.

The b-day party for my brother turned out rather well. Kat, you were right. I know how to plan for stuff like this. And when it came down to it and the only thing I could eat was the chicken (roasted herb potatoes and sauteed carrots don't quite fit the low-carb bill), I ate my chicken, passed the veggies off to DH and we left before dessert was served. That part was easy because she hadn't baked it yet, and we needed to zoom off to Costco before they closed. That and the cold combined for a great excuse. BTW, before any of you think I'm totally unfeeling by showing up to the party sick, I did call my SIL and she begged me to show up.

Earlier in the day I tried to call in sick to job 1, and the manager said they really needed me. Of course I got my act together and showed up, with their pizzas in hand, of course. Turns out they didn't need me at all, they were just worried about their pizza party. Grrr... If they would have told me that, I would have had them pick up their own darn pizzas and written them a check the next day. I stuck it out for three hours and accomplished about nothing before deciding to go home.

Enough whining for me! Day 8, and I'm still OP Fairly easy to remain so today because I have virtually no appetite. Come to think of it, it is after noon and I haven't eaten yet. Better do something about that soon.

Syn, thanks for the mix recipes! www.pamperedchef.com has 4 on their site, and you can print off the recipes and gift tags to go with them as well. They look so pretty all layered. I adore gifts like that. I can cook them up at my convenience instead of freezing, tossing or giving them away because I have 6 kazillion goodies hanging about. On a health note, I know you were talking about doing low-carb dieting at one time. If you are having problems with gout, you will definitely want to check with your doctor before going that route.

Ok, I know I've only done one reply, but just had another coughing fit and I'm going to go lie down for a while.

    Take care all!

    Andria
  • Thanks for all the gift ideas ladies. I started doing something like that last year and set everything aside when dad passed away. Maybe I will try again and add the soups too.

Anytime anyone posts a recipe, I've been copying it into a Word document. I have visions of a possible cookbook for next years spring fling.

Okay ladies, I am too dumb to own a computer. Since the middle of September, I have had trouble with the wireless router and having access on my laptop. I have spent many hours, tears and four-letter words trying to set the router to work again. I dearly missed being able to post from the laptop which I could do upstairs with DH. I finally got the router to work a couple of weeks ago but couldn't get the laptop to work. I just sat down with the stupid thing again this afternoon and have uninstalled/reinstalled/uninstalled, etc. Golly, who would have thought that there is an "on/off switch for the router? See, that's what I hate about using symbols on stuff instead of ENGLISH. I just happened upon that and by gosh, I'm connected again on the laptop. Now I can sit in the recliner with a blankie over my legs and post! Woohoo!!

Andria - Take care of that cold sooner than later! DH has been fighting that cold/cough mess for well over a month - almost two! Nothing we have tried has made it go away - benadryl at night down help with the drainage in the middle of the night.

Hi Mary, Susie and Michelle! Okay, now I'm off to update my journal.
  • Hi Gals!
I think I have caught up from the lack of sleep on Friday night. Yesterday I sat on the couch watching shows that we had taped. Around 3:00 I got showered and we went out for more car shopping...Argh! Jeff still hasn't decided what he wants to get and I end up doing most of the talking to the sales guys. I hate car shopping!

Today I got up and tackled cleaning out the landscaping in the front of the house. Weeding and cutting back bushes. My back is aching but it looks good and was good exercise! After that I came in and took a nice, long, hot bath! Ah - heaven!

I'm not going to attempt to reply to everyone now. I'm going to watch a little tv and then we are going out to lunch/dinner. They just opened up a Champps near us that we want to try.

A big Hello and hug to all!

    Barb
