Exclamation We Need Help Fast!

Hello! My girlfriend and I are each doing Healthy Wage challenges. For those of you not familiar, the gist of Healthy Wage is it lets you set a weight loss goal for yourself and if you win you get big money. Well, both of us are less than two weeks away from the date that we need to reach our goal weights by. We're both very close (I'm only 1.7 pounds away). However, our weight loss has completely stagnated. Any insight as to why this is happening?


Here's a little bit of context: the last two weeks we've been doing perfectly on our diets. It's the home stretch and we wanted to make sure we reached our goals. However, my thinking is that we were doing too well. I was only taking in 1,000 calories a day, sometimes a bit less. We were both losing weight fast but now it's completely stopped. Could it be that because we were basically starving ourselves our metabolisms slowed way down in response, converting more of what we ate into fat? I'm not a nutritionist at all, is this a thing that actually happens? If so, is there a way to fix it? We're desperate for help, I stand to lose $1,445 if I don't lose this last bit of weight and my girlfriend will lose even more. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Mutedteal -

I don't know about crash diet strategies. Around here, we work on slow, monitored, eating plans and exercise plans.

I do wish you and your girlfriend well in your current exercise, and welcome you to join us in any of our forums for your long term efforts when you've completed this.

Thanks for the hospitality! That's the thing, we were following a slow, monitored plan but I guess we got a little carried away and it completely backfired.
