Clothes Fitting Different Going Down?!

  • Has anyone else had this happen? I've lost 97 pounds But the same clothes that use to fit me at this weight now don't and clothes that I thought I'd need to lose another 15 pounds to fit do. Weird. This time my weight seems to be holding at my waist, calves & arms and losing in my thighs and butt first.I love being able to wear pants that no longer gap at the waist ( fall from my thighs. Can't get the straight leg ones on anymore. But shirts with regular sleeves-way too tight. have to stick to T's and "flowing" sleeves. Ahh! Well- wonder what will happen 70 pounds from now at goal?
  • 97 pounds is crazy awesome. Nice job!!

For about the first 50 pounds, I think it came off pretty much the same as it came on, so the clothes were fitting the same way going down as they did going up.

I had your pants problem, too. If it fit my hips and thighs, the waist was too big. So, I started wearing elastic waisted pants and shorts. Now, I'm zipping! Very fun.

Since I haven't weighed what I now weigh in about 25 years, I can't remember if I was like this at this weight. Clothes were different then, too, so there's that. I got most of them at the Gap and the Limited and they put a lot of room in the busts back then, plus the sleeves were much bigger near the shoulders (and lots had shoulder pads, lol.) Now, shirts have much bigger abdominal areas and less room up top.

Waists were much smaller then, but they seem to be going back to that, I guess. For a long time, the pants had no waist and were sitting low on the hips. Kids made fun of pants with waists and called them "mom jeans." Now, the kids are making fun of the pants that sit low. I guess it all goes in circles.
  • Our bodies change over time, and clothing has changed as well.

    Don't worry about it.

    Congrats on your success!
