One decent substitute is making some hot chocolate from scratch---i.e., unsweetened cocoa, stevia (or a tsp of sugar), and 1% milk. That can help the chocolate craving w/out too much damage calorie-wise.

Do you have the Swiss Miss brand by any chance? They make a diet cocoa that is only 25 calories a cup and surprisingly good. Always helps me when I'm craving chocolate.

Then buy some dark (70% cocoa), eat it and go for a run.

I love a little chocolate before a run.

Failing that have one small piece after lunch. You won't notice it.

Keep it dark. Keep it small. Or run.

Or just don't.

I found that once I allowed myself chocolate on a regular basis, and I made sure it was really, really good chocolate, I craved it less and less. Now I go months without thinking about it.

If you don't have the calories budgeted for it today, maybe you could promise yourself a piece tomorrow?

I didn't need it so I didn't have it. I had 157 calories left so I could have but I didn't NEED it. I'm off to the gym this morning. I can have chocolate another day.

If you live in London go to a Snog, a small serving of Milk Chocolate is only approx. 120 calories and it's yummy and really creamy (I don't know how they get fat free yogurt sooooooooo decadently creamy). It's my go to when I crave chocolate. They closed down my local Snog parlour, but I'm willing to make the trip to Selfridges or Covent Garden to get one. I can't tell you just how amazingly good it is.

PS I'm just assuming you live in Britain please excuse me if I'm wrong.

Unsweetened cocoa is regular cooking/baking cocoa in the UK, so Cadbury do it and all the supermarkets do their own brand versions. I have the Sainsbury's one downstairs, comes in a black and brown box. You'll find it near the tea and coffee in the shop
