Default Need a little support and just want to moan.

Im a calorie counter and im really struggling tonight. Im tired, got the sniffles and i want to stuff my face.
I was at the gym earlier and couldnt do my usual workout because my eyes were closing while on the treadmill - i was actually scared i would face plant and knock all my teeth out i was struggling to stay awake so badly.
When i came out to walk home i walked in front of a bus because i was walking asleep (my eyes were closed). This isnt the first time. On Saturday i walked in front of a car that i didnt see.
I know im eating enough because im eating 1450 cals a day of a mixed diet. The only thing i can think is im not getting enough iron but i take a vitamin thats supposed to have the entire daily allowance.
Why am i so tired??
Every day by mid afternoon im yawning every 5 minutes despite sleeping 8 hours a night.
I still feel fat and i hate how i look. Right now im wondering what the point in all this is.

Sorry just ignore me, im so tired.

Is it possible you're getting sick? I know sickness really drains me.. and depending on what sort of sickness sometimes I feel hungry, sometimes I don't wanna eat anything.

Either way, I hope you start to feel better soon. Remember that the journey isn't just about looks. Eating healthy nourishes your body, and you are much more likely to feel better about it in the long run. Perhaps add in more veggies and high fiber foods, or more proteins? Things that keep you more full longer. Experiment until you figure out what works for you right now.

Being sick while on a diet usually makes you pretty exhausted. Take a couple of days off from the gym and let yourself recover. Do not stuff your face, it won't do anything except make you sad when you gain again.

still exhausted today despite getting 8 hours sleep last night and eating a balanced diet.

Is there anything other than iron that might be causing it?

Go to the doctor and have your iron and thyroid function checked. I don't think your caloric intake can explain this level of fatigue.

I don't know a lot about this, but I've heard sometimes (in the case of iron) it's possible the body's not absorbing it well. It's impossible to know what the problem is, though, without a medical check-up. If you're doing all the things that should technically make you feel great but you still feel unwell, then a doctor's visit sounds in order. I hope you feel better soon!

Yes, have your iron checked and think about any allergy meds that you might be taking. Some meds can have a strange effect like making you very tired.

IIRC, you've embarked on a big push for weight loss before a vacation, yes? Have you significantly upped your exercise as part of that? How often and how long are you exercising, and is it a big increase from before? Are you taking rest days?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm wondering if you're physically draining yourself and not allowing enough time to recover.

I'm sorry you're struggling so much right now and feeling discouraged. I second the suggestion to visit your doctor and rule out thyroid and other physical causes.

Hugs to you and I hope things will improve soon.

Fourthing those suggestions. The amount of iron you get in vitamin pills isn't anywhere near the amount used by doctors, so if you have anaemia it wouldn't be enough.

Definitely iron. Most vitamin tablets do not contain your full needs. Drinking a little orange juice will help increase absorption.

Thanks guys. I have upped my exercise a little but not enough to explain this triedness e.g. 45 minutes to 1hr cardio tues and thurs and from 1hr cardio to 1hr 20 minutes on a Saturday. So not much of a jump.
Hmmmm maybe i am getting enough iron but not absorbing it well enough. Unfortunately i dont like orange juice but ill look into other ways to increase absorption.

A strange thing happened last night, i fell asleep on the sofa as i had been doing for ages prior to forcing myself to go to bed at 11pm every night this last week. Today im not as tired as i have been. When i go to bed, im tired, when i sleep on the sofa from about 11 till 3 ish and then go to bed till 7.30 ish im not as tired.

Also ive stopped taking my anti bleeding meds (i have implant but was constantly bleeding so i was given norethisterone which i have been taken for 10 months - i stopped them 3 weeks ago to see if i can manage. not sure they have anything to do with it as only last week ive been exhausted but maybe?

If you are bleeding (a lot?) you may need serious iron. See a doctor.

My ex-wife had lots of bleeding following a routine op that went wrong. She feel anaemic very quickly and was on large doses of iron until it was fixed. Constipation type quantities of iron.
