Default Upping calories after a week of VLCD

Hi everyone! I'm 21 years old, 5"4, and currently weigh 66.5kg. Basically, to cut a long story short, I did something stupid. Seriously reduced my calorie intake and upped my exercise intake in the last week. Ate an average of around 700 calories a day, burning off around 300.

This was really stupid, and I know that this isn't the way to do it. I want to do things sensibly. I want to keep my exercise the same (I love rowing!), but I want to up my calorie intake to give me the energy and strength to do it.

I know I only crash dieted for a week (went from 68.5 to 66.5kg), but I'm scared I've messed up my metabolism. I want to start eating normally again, but I really, really don't want to put any weight on! Or at least, a minimal amount. Am I over-reacting, and will my metabolism still be fine? Or have I done serious damage?

Many thanks.

Kitty

I'm not an expert but I don't think one week will mess you up. Many people do fasting for a week for religious reasons or other reasons. As long as you don't keep doing it, i'm sure you will be fine.

Eat normally. Your metabolism will be fine.

You may see a bump up in the scale because of some water fluctuation/retention. Don't freak out. Ignore it, and stick with your healthy plan. You'll do great!

I've had a few weeks over the course of the years where I've eaten very little, probably less than you did, due to grief and stress over the death of family members...It hasn't affected my body one way or the other and hasn't created a long term problem for me either.

You're fine. It was only for a week.
