Continuing the motivation after hitting a big goal
I finally hit a long-time goal of mine - getting into the 170s at 179. I'm not close yet to my ultimate goal of a flat stomach (probably around 165). So after all my hard dieting I took a "relax" day Sunday, eating maybe 1000 calories over maintenance. Now I'm back, ready to hit it hard again. But I need to find another short-term goal to aim for. I guess I could arbitrarily aim for 175 - but that number doesn't have a lot of meaning to me. 169 would be good, but it's going to take a while to get there. I'm only losing about 2 lbs. a week - if that. Nothing to do but pick a goal and go for it.
And now advice. I say pick 175. It's fun to reach goals and if your pace is slow you don't have to wait too long. And, furthermore, even though 175 don't have that special meaning for you, it will once you reach it.
Without knowing your height, it's hard to suggest if you're near any BMI milestones - but try plugging various weights between 169-179 in a BMI calculator and see if something seems like a goal to strive for.
Did you mean 2 lbs per week, or 2 lbs per month? Because I would be surprised to say the least if I was losing 2 lbs per week at this stage of my WLJ.
I calculated each goal as a 10% loss from my "starting weight." My first goal was 20 lbs - from 200 to 180. My next goal is 162 (180 - 16). My ultimate goal is 145 (the next step in my progression is 146, but that is only 1 lb over my final goal).
I was so focused on getting to "Onederland" for so long, that I actually became worried I'd lose steam after I hit that first big mini-goal. Happy to say that was not the case. In fact, I think I've become obsessed with getting as far away from Onederland as possible now :P
Great job so far and good luck with the rest of your journey!
Right to Nonameslob - I want to get as far away from the 180s as I can possibly be. I don't wanna go back after living there for so long.
The up-side is that being so much closer to my ultimate goal now, the weight I lose at this point makes that much more of a visible difference. And the tape measure does seem to be moving faster than it used to be.
