Default Just Saying!

Ya know, I just realized I don't keep liquor in my house cause I can't stop at one drink. So, I just don't drink any ever! Sometimes these things are life and death choices. So, ya have to do "what you have to" to save your own life!

As someone who has weighed 297lbs before and was up to 2 different blood pressure meds, antidepressants, 2 asthma meds and could barely walk my dogs to the corner just a couple of months ago, I feel like I hit the lottery at only 20lbs. My blood pressure and blood sugar have been almost normal for more than a month, I'm sleeping and my energy is up most days. This is all the proof I need that extra weight, overeating and not exercising was the BIG medical issue all along, JUST FOR ME.

While, I loved my body, I loved food more. But, it was an unhealthy relationship. This week I found out that even having trigger foods in the house will throw me off tract as well as getting too stressed by others problems. For someone that is motivated to check their own stats, having a glucose meter and blood pressure cuff available to check my own stats in the mornings, has helped me a bunch. I paid next to nothing for them. But, they do not take the place of seeing my doctor often. These extra tools keep me super motivated to keep going. I guess its a real learning curve.

I think I'm gonna keep saving my life with what IS working for me. No matter what might work for others. Just saying!

Great post, Mini. I am a cheese addict and I have decided that when I get back on the wagon, there will be no cheese in the house because I will be obsessing about it all the time. To me, resisting a trigger food is just as hard as resisting a smoke or drink

I like the idea of "saving your own life". Like you are a super hero, which you are, of course.

Time and time again it seems to me that self knowledge is the most fundamental part of becoming the person you wish to be. No one can tell you what to do but yourself. Or as my mom would say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If it works for you then keep it up.

Mini, I love this post! You need to print it out and read it to yourself every morning. Don't sell yourself short. Go pick up a 20 lb of potatoes. That is gone from you.

Yes mini, great post and i love also the notion of saving your life. Its wonderful that you can feel the difference at a loss of 20 pounds.

I was around 180 to start with and now i'm around 20 pounds less and i'm wondering why i never thought the weight i am now was so ugly cause now i feel actually feel slim and i'im still not in my healthy weight zone yet. I am definitely going down there mind you.

I also think its fantastic that you have removed alcohol from your house/life. For me, that's refined sugars. I have to say no forever i think even though i do have a few get out clauses. But i am a little concerned that once i have some even in a non-danger situation that going back to my usual restraint will be hard if not the end of my plan so i'm putting that moment off as long as possible.

But now anyway i treat sweets like i do cigarettes. With them i can't have even one - which i learnt from countless failed attempts.

Goodluck on your journey.
