Default Stopping the takeaway torture

So at the moment all i can think about is takeaway. I wont say what exactly as i dont want to set anyone else off but i feel like i NEED to get some NOW. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Telling myself to go to the grocery store and buy ingredients to make a healthy version at home is being met with my 5 year old inner brat saying "but i WAAAAAAAANT!!!!".

How do you guys stop yourself giving in?

Stay strong!!

Takeout food never EVER tastes as good to me as I remember. A homemade burger or a homemade pizza are both so fresh and healthy (as far as those items can be, of course!) that now I prefer them (nevermind the $$$ savings).

I always get "eater's remorse" both physically and mentally when I eat takeout. That's enough motivation for me to stay away.

Maybe if you tell us what you are craving, we can come up with an easy enough healthy alternative recipe or takeout alternative for you.

I give it away to the kids/church kitchen/neighbors. My DH usually nabs it. Or put it way behind stuff in the fridge. By the time you pull it out it's weeks later and you may not even want it then!! Orrr, put it in the freezer ~ freezer burn/pain in the azz to defrost!

Thanks Elvis. I know i can make healthy alternatives but i don't want them. I want the takeaway i know is bad for me and full of salt and fat. I rarely get remorse after eating. I just tell myself its the last time every time and then a few weeks later i want it again. I not only want noodles and char sui pork from the chinese i want my usual dominoes - dominator chicken feast, strippers combo, irn-bru and peanut butter cup ben & jerry's.
I know its so bad so why do i want it so much?

Inkrid i dont have it but i want to get it. with online ordering and another just 5 mins walk away it wouldnt be difficult to go get some (well the walking might cause i killed myself in the gym yesterday) but they also deliver.

Occasionally, I just let myself have some. BUT. For instance, instead of getting the honey-walnut chicken from the local Chinese place, I'll get their stir fried veggies. Or I'll make it at home only without the breading on the chicken and without deep fat frying it. Still tastes great.

One other trick that I started doing about six months ago was anytime I resisted getting some take out and bringing it home (you know, like the large supreme pizza.....with a thick crust no less), I took the money I would have spent and put it in my new clothes jar for when I finally have to break down and start getting a new wardrobe.

Between fixing something similar at home and saving the money, it's really helped with keeping the 5 year old child in check.

Maybe mark your calendar ~ every month and a half ~ you order from it!! This way it's an Event that's Planned. Just a thought.

You've lost 22 lbs. Is having that cheat day every few weeks hurting your progress overall? If you are able to get back on plan, and it looks like you are, why deny yourself an allowed cheat day? I say it's better to grant yourself permission and then go right back on plan than feel like you have no choice, "blow it," and fall off the wagon!

If it is every few weeks I would say you would be ok splurging if you get right back on track. but only pick ONE of what you are craving. DO NOT go all out! It is harder to make up the calories of all that you listed, but not too difficult to make up one of them
