I made through the brownie attack, thanks ya'll for being there.:cp:

My shift is over and I'm ready to get out of here. I'll probably be working this weekend since the electronic transmission from our largest client didn't come through the system and we can't put in the specimen descriptions without the patient information their data entry dept enters. So if I do wind up working, I try to pop in here.

Sandy - I'll try to get my own "puter" one of these days. Here in these parts we say "pooter". :o

Amanda - what did you put in those eggs??? I broke a sweat just reading your post!!

Thin - what do you do as a "showgirl"? I agree, hubby's a keeper. I didn't think there really were any men around like that.

Well, I am ready to go home. I hope you girls have a great weekend.

BarbPA 06-28-2003 07:33 AM

Good Morning Chicks!
I hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start. Mine is - well, except that I woke up a 6:30 to a dog barking at me to go outside. I wish they understood that it's the weekend and I want to sleep late - no such luck! :p

Yesterday was a great food and exercise day and this morning the scale was favorable (yes, I can't help myself - I have to hop on it everyday - it's an addiction!) Anyway, I hope that has given me the motivation to stay OP this weekend. I am so tired of blowing it on weekends and spending the rest of the week catching up only to see a tiny loss. But, I know if I can do better on weekends the official weekly weigh-in will be bigger.

I go back to the Dr. on Aug 25th and my goal is to have lost 50 pounds by then, so I have 2 months to take off 17. I am going to start setting mini-goals like this for myself and that will hopefully help me get to the big picture.

A BIG thanks to you all with the encouraging words for us getting pregnant. We are trying to relax about all of it, the problem is that we have been 'relaxed' about it for 9 years and it has never happened. So, the time has come to realize it may not be that simple. I know it will happen! God will look over us and at some point in time we will have children. Thanks again!

Lucky - It's great to see you popping back in. Happy to hear that you love your new job!

I think I am going to get a walk in this morning, then more painting. Later today will be some shopping! :)

Catch ya later!
:)Barb

Happy Sat. chickies

When I went to the DR. yesterday I didn't even have to lift my legs. I just explained to him the situation about my insurance and he wrote me a script for the hormones. But he does want me to get a mamogram sometime this year. he suggested that I call the hospital and see if they are going to have a special on mamograms sometime this year. Sometimes they do.

I did sleep better last night.:)

Hope all of you have a great day. Welcome Barbara to our little group.

I never did get a chance to meet Joe Anne.
:(

Tina : Maybe I can get up your way soon. maaybe Connie could meet up with us too.

Well girls I need to run and grab a bite of breakfast and another cup of coffee. DH and I are going to the museum today.
Catch you in chat tonight.

LuckyLadyBug 06-28-2003 10:57 AM

Geez, Thin &Tina you sure do get nasty!!!! However, since I know all the good vibes from here helped me get this job, and Tina brought up marriage - I might have to keep coming back to "use" you some more.

Notice I used you to get a job - now moving on to marriage - I don't seem to pick weight loss. What was the name of this forum, again?????

I just don't get on the computer at home as much as I used too. Raking, mowing, hauling and shoving - see I haven't changed at all.

MichelleK 06-28-2003 12:01 PM

Hey Lucky...with all that shoving you are doing are you sure you ain't shoving men away in the process??? LOL Hey I missed you girl! I was so happy to see your posts! NOw for the marriage thing...I need help with that too! So if they are all gonna give vibes for you I want some too!! And...job...I started a new job last monday too! I am doing personal injury collections for a local doctor's office. He has 7 offices and a medical equipment company, I do the collections for 2 offices and the equipment company. I get to deal with insurance adjusters, attorneys, and some patients...hey maybe I can find me a lawyer! Anyways....stay with us girl...you were missed!

I'm gonna try and do a post to everyone...but we will see what time brings...I had to take my little guy to the doctors this morning and he has another ear infection....I gave him motrin and his amoxicillin and he is sleeping on the couch right now...poor baby!

Tina....I am awaiting patiently (NOT) for your itinerary! As soon as you get it to me I will work on rounding up the local girls and see what we can come up with!

Mary aren't them tittiesmashings fun? LOL I hate having those mammograms...I didn't know they could flatten so much! Hope all goes well with you!

Barb...hope everything goes well for you too. I can't relate....my nickname is fertile myrtle. Back in '99 I went off the pill in September and we were pregnant in November. I had a miss on Christmas night and I was pregnant again by January. John gave me the nickname and said I only have to look at you and you get pregnant. Keep the faith...God has plans for you and when its your time you will be a wonderful mother! Even if it takes a little more time and whatever it will be worth it in the end...motherhood is such an awesome experience! You are in my prayers!

Dixie good job on avoiding the brownies! See what a big accomplishment you just made!!!! Its those times that all add up that help us LEARN new behavior for our eating. Tina is right...you ARE stronger than those brownies...and you know what..they probably really didn't taste all that good anyway. Sometimes I just HAVE to have something then I eat it and say...cr@p that wasn't worth it...they don't taste as good as I thought they did!

Amanda...sounds like you had quite a busy day!!

Thin you too..busy beavers!!

Terri I really want to get the SBD book now. I have to go up and down stairs now at work and this weight is hindering me! I am hopeing in 6 months to be running up those steps!!

Sandy glad to see your long post again. It seems that in the summer everyone gets busy and the threads seem to dwindle off...but I am going to try and get here every single day and post because even if I'm not following my plan carefully coming here helps to keep me in line cause I have to answer to you all! I need to answer to someone when it comes to my weightloss...or I just say the heck with it!

Lori were YOU a little disappointed with your TOM? I know when we first went off the pill and did a pg test and it came back negative we were both a little sad. We figured if it happened it happened and if it didn't it didn't. We were both getting older and figured it was now or never. I was 40 when I delivered my son.

Kat...how was the show? And WHAT did you do this weekend so far? Its pretty draining having company even if it is family. You always feel you have to entertain them the whole time and cook the whole time!

Barbara...I am with Thin on this one. I am going to call you Barbara too and Barb from PA Barb. So you both will know who I am talking to....anyways...welcome to the best group of ladies you will ever find!

2Cute...how are you doing sweetie??? I stopped at a couple of yard sales this morning and I thought of you...I didn't find any good deals though! Some weeks are good and some are bad!

OK so where the heck is our friend from Canada who lost all that weight and deserted us...I won't mention any names SARA!!

Just a quick HI to draw out the rest of you...Andria, Jen, JoeAnne, Duckie and everyone and anyone else I failed to remember in this sieve of a brain!!

I gotta run...we have to go to the Shore today to the hospital to see John's dad. He had a heart attack wednesday night. Then we are stopping at his sister's house who lives up that way to visit his niece's baby. I'll catch up to you all again later tonight or tomorrow morning!

TTFN Love you guys!! Keep up the good work!! Michelle

QueenB 06-28-2003 12:15 PM

Hey now!

First off:

Lucky: Shame on you! You know me and Thin would never be nasty to you.....well, maybe. ;) But it's only because we miss you, you know. I guess we feel like we know you well enough that we can gripe at you and you won't mind. On a serious note, we do miss you and would like to see your hind end in here more often!

Now, I just wanted to let you guys know that I will probably not be in chat tonight. (not that I'm always there anyways...) I know I just stopped in last week and chatted for abit, and I hate missing tonight. :( #1 son is spending the night with my Mom and dh and #2 son are going to a car show this evening. They are going with mil & fil and they have already headed up to their house and are leaving around 4:00 to get a good place and I think the judging starts around 6:00, so I am all by my lonesome till around 9:00! :cb:

Well, actually...not all my my lonesome. Seems like I NEVER had a chance to do anything with my friends...you know, the girls. Last time I had a chance to do something (and it was OH SO EXCITING--we were making rice crispy treats for gift bags for work) with just me and my friend, dh had to even tag along then! Of course, I'm complaining now, but you'll hear a different story when he's been on seconds for a couple of weeks. :( ANYWAYS...sorry I'm babbling. After work, my friend Kim and I are going to Bi Lo to peruse (sp?) the health food aisle, and then I'm gonna run back home to change and we're going to go see Charlies Angels II and when it's over, we'll head back to my house and watch a special I taped a couple of weeks ago on TONY and she's been wanting to see it. YES..... I have corrupted her. :s:

So, depending on how late she leaves, I may not be able to chat, but I'll try to pop in. Hope all my lovelies have a wonderful day!

I admit I was a bit disappointed at first; I am 41 and never had a child-yet. I would like at least one before I get too old to appreciate them--heck, I would still like to be living long enough to see the kidlet get married at least! At the same time, it is just as well; the timing isn't right. and Brian needs to finish his education and get himself established, and I am considering WLS and need to get my own health and personal affairs in order before bringing another little life into the world. One thing is for certain--both of us want a child.

Speaking of WLS, I got a letter from the office of the doctor today where I will be having my consultation. When I first read that the appointment for August 25 had been cancelled, my first reaction was AUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! --then I read the rest of the letter and they pushed me up a week earlier than the original appointment! :cb: Needless to say, I am quite thrilled. :cp:

Well, the cat box is clean, the house is done and smells like a meadow, and the laundry is finished--WOOHOO the rest of the day is MINE!!!!! :D

Hi all...

I should be gearing up for "Girls Night," I can't wait to get out of this house! I have such raging PMS, so a night full of belly laughs and gossip and catching up is just what I need. DH can hang out with his sister tonight...he's been working almost the entire time she's been here!

The show last night was very nice... I went right from the show to work...no sleep at all...:tired:
It was SO much cooler yesterday...today too. Maybe in the 80s...Perfect weather to be outside planting flowers. By the time I get a spare minute to do that, it will be hot and humid again.

*&%$ look at the time, I have to run! Catch you all tomorrow!

Welcome back, Lucky!

Now can I Sleep?

Hi Friends
I had such an exhausting week, I didn't have time for fun. I for sure am not as young as I thought.
We arrived late Sunday (12:00am) and then I got up by 6:00 to make sure I got my walk in which came to about 1.25 miles, and this was all inside. I walked Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs for at least 1 mile since I found a snack shop that had coffee, bagel and fruit. It wasn't so bad until Tuesday night when the evening programs lasted till 11:30pm, then I was just draggin the rest of the week, Ok I must confess, I had pizza three times and that was twice in one day this was due to the meals being on our own and then having to be back in the workshops within 45 minutes but due to all the walking I did, I hoped that helped (the 2 hotel/casinos were very large and we had to walk almost a full 1/4 mile just to get to the conference room). The group did have one day (4 hours) for fun (swimming at the Geyser Falls water park) but I didn't go because I had a bad sinus headache.
Everything is ok now but I am still so tired. Our group of teens were so well behaved, I am so proud of them.
I am off to take a little nap since I am still trying to catch up on my sleep. Also my husband's 55th birthday is today so we are going out to dinner tonight.
I'll be back tomorrow, See you all lighter friends.:)

Hi Chicks!

Finally decided to write this as I read the posts. So many people to comment on! Sorry if I jump between screen names and actual names.

Grannie: Just a thought - why not call the American Cancer Foundation or any cancer related organization. I know there are a lot of support groups in my area...esp for breast cancer. They have a "boob mobile" that travels around...either free or about 10 bucks. Could call them and find out where some info. I used them to get my mother's mamogram.

Barb the Newbie: Welcome to the group! Pretty new myself but I love to read everyone's posts. Great group!

MichelleK: Is your son prone to ear infections? My brother was....horrible things! Eventually got tubes put in. Only reason why I comment is that I saw on tv a new procedure they trying here in NY. Non surgical. Also....just in case you need to get those plugs for the water...Mom saved money by using Silly Putty. Seriously. Doc told her to use that as earplugs for the water rather than buying those expensive custome made ones. LOL...here I go rambling and you haven't answered the question.

Kind of weird being home from my trip. Same old same old...ya know? Came home and Dad has an attack of the gout. Want to kick him sometimes....knows what he's not supposed to eat but still does it anyway.

Weather is great though and the pool is open. Great place to work out for me....less stress. Feel like a giant M&M in my black suit though...lol.

Just a question while I'm thinking about it.....bit personal so I apologize ahead of time. How many of you have hormonal problems that can be linked to your weight? I've gained about 40 lbs since injurying my back and my TOM has gone haywire. Doc did tests and I'm poly cystic. Worry that it's going to get worse and I'm going to have trouble getting pregnant in the future.

Heard a good comeback for women who don't want to have children: "If I wanted to hear the pitter patter of little feet I'd put shoes on my cat".

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Deb :strong:

MichelleK 06-28-2003 11:34 PM

Deb...no Andrew has only had 3 ear infections his whole 2 yrs and 9 months. The doctor said this ear infection came from the inside and didn't have anything to do with the pool so hopefully he won't have problems when swimming...he loves the water but if it does come to that silly putty sounds pretty silly but I'm one to save money on anything so I would give it a try!! Heck if the doctor said to try it, it can't be that bad! LOL

Well I really have to get to bed! I am so tired...we went to the shore to visit John's dad in the hospital and to see his niece's baby...it was a 2 hour ride each way! Talk to you all tomorrow!

TTFN Michelle

Good Morning All!
Those darn dogs were waking me up again today at 7am. Don't they know it's the weekend?? And why is it that DH can sleep through anything? Oh well. I don't like to sleep too late on Sunday because then I have a hard time sleeping Sun night and getting up for work on Monday. That shouldn't be a problem this week!

It's been pretty quiet around here - is everyone off doing fun and exciting things??? Not us - we stuck around the house all day yesterday - working on the crown molding in the dining room. Ugh - we bought the foam kind that looks like wood and is suppose to be much easier to put up. Problem is painting it - we got a decorative design and I can only get all the nooks and crannies w/ an artists brush -- I'm going to be painting forever!! We are suppose to have a poker party in 2 weeks and we use our dining room, so I guess I have about 2 weeks to get it all done. :)

We went out to dinner last night --- I told DH we could go out ONE time this weekend. We opted for Hibachi - a Japanese restaurant where they cook at your table. I thought it would be a decent choice because they serve you salad, rice, veggies and your choice of meat - I have a combo of filet mignon and chicken - of which I only at 1/2. the other 1/2 will be lunch or dinner today. :) It feels great to be staying within my goals over the weekend!

Speaking of goals --- we all set them and were going to challenge ourself to follow them and report in. We weren't very good about that --- How is everyone doing????

I've gotten some kind of exercise - at least 30 min - in everyday this week. Water has been good - mixed in with some watered down iced tea (can't give it up), food has been good past 6 of 7 days - and even the bad day wasn't that bad.

My goal for this week is to keep up the good work!
:cb:

I'm so happy it's a short work week. I'm looking forward to the long weekend. We have nothing planned for the 4th. Probably just continue to work around the house.

Well, I think I am going to read (Harry Potter) for a bit before tackling the painting again!!!!

Have a great day! Talk to you later!
Love,
Barb

P.S. I agree with the others. How about if I remain "Barb" and the new Barb is "Barbara". Is that ok with you, "Barbara". :)

peekabooangel 06-29-2003 08:11 AM

Should have used more sunscreen

Dear Friends,

Yesterday my brother in law launched his new lobster boat, I'm not sure on the size just BIG. So we were at the shore all day and guess what? I didn't use enough sunscreen through the day :( and I am really burned pretty bad once again on my arms (had a tank top on) and my upper chest. Tina would be so proud though because since I have thin thin thin hair I try to remember a hat so as not to burn my head (very painful) Well, I fogot my hat but dear sil had her Tony Stewart hat on that my hubby gave her so Tony saved my head for the day.:D . The boat went great and fast and what a party. My dh is still in bed, last night I slept on the couch cause the man was so self inflicted sick and had a bucket and I was not dealing with it. I am so heartless!!! But, he did it to himself. I just said you sleep in here and I am going to the livingroom and make sure you clean up after yourself and strip the bed in the morning.;)

I did catch Mary and Amanda both on line last night and told them I wouldnt make chat I was just so tired and sore, so please forgive me girls, I was finally sound asleep at like 9:30 pm my time. The sun and salt water makes me tired and I was down there all day long.

On to replies,

Michelle: Evan my 11 year old had many ear infections when he was your little ones age, but never had to have tubes the doctor said because of the type they were? Anyway he did eventually grow out of them and has perfect hearing. Hope Andrew is on the mend.

Deb: No hormonal problems here I don't think? I mean I had a hard time getting pregnant but it finally happend. As for my cycles? Well, I had to have one ovary and tube out because of cysts ( I think that could have been the prego problem?) but anyway I had the other tube cut and tied to prevent pregnancy, we have 2 wonderful ones already......but now my period seems to be so bad!!! And I asked my OBGYN about it and she said that is just what happens when woman get fixed? So that was a great medical explination don't you think? Now I am just bidding my time to hit menopause to stop having the damned thing. I think after your done having babies and you know your are and if you have to have any operations like I did then they should just take it all out!!! don't need those parts anymore anyway....lol.

Jo Anne: Glad you had a nice trip. Sounds like you did lots of walking. Glad that you had a good bunch of kids with you too and they were well behaved, that helps.

Kat: So "girls night out" where did you go? How often do you get it? My "girls weekends away" we usually do 2 times a year, and the next one is in September....I am counting the days...lol

Lori: So what date did you get for your weight loss surgery? Or is it just a consultation? How much have you lost on your own so far? If you continue to loose on your own then you won't need surgery, you can do it. Good luck whatever you choose to do.

Tina: How was the movie? I want to go see that one. But, like you I will have to take a girlfriend cause hubby would say I'm not going to watch some chick flick. But you know he probably can't wait to see it on video and rent it....MEN.

Okay, gotta run girls.....

Hugs,
Sandy

Good afternoon ladies. I got home last night but just needed to veg out for a while.
I want to thank all of you for all of the condolences you sent. :grouphug:
I even got a few from lurkers. How sweet. I hope they are still lurking to see my hugs I am sending.
THANK YOU EVERYONE !!!!!
My fathers funeral was very lovely. Saw lots of people I have not seen in years. I did not even recognize some of them. :o One funny thing that happened is.... several people went up to my 23 year old daughter and asked if she was ME. LOL I guess she looks like what I used to look like. I told her I was going to fix her hair the way I used to and take a picture of her poiseing like me in a picture and compare. LOL

I am not going to chat today. Just felt like peeking in and thanking everyone. It also seems appropriate since I ended one thread with his death... and ending this one with my heartfelt thank yous.

2cute2Bfat 06-29-2003 01:12 PM

STOP !!! Do not post here !!!
Instead come follow us to the next thread of 300+ ... #358
