Default Ugh...very discouraged!

I have been eating really good for the last 3 weeks and lost 10 pounds right away and now nothing for this entire week! I feel like I have so much to loose yet that it should be coming off pretty steady especially since I haven't cheated once, ate really clean, drank lots of water etc but the scale has not moved at all....

I used to eat chocolate everyday and fast food and all sorts of junk but it hardly seems fair to not lose weight when im eating my grilled chicken and spinach and salads etc....

i feel like crying tonight and im really fighting to not just go to the store and buy junk food (since I don't have any in the house) of course the kids are not helping and are trying to get me to get pizza tonight!! Hubby is less than supportive and doesn't understand why I can't have any 'just tonight' because I don't want to loose what little control i have gained over my unhealthy habits and have cravings etc....how do any of you deal with unsupporting family etc? I feel so alone

Ugh...maybe i will have a hot bath and hopefully feel better...

You are doing great. Just keep going. Weight loss is not linear. There are lots of little gains (e.g. from water, TOM etc.) and (mostly) losses. And when you get nearer to your goal weight things go really crazy (my weight has stalled for the last month or so). So just keep going and you will see results.

Regarding hubby, just ignore him and eat your own food. I ignore most of my family and eat separately to them. My wife will try to get me to eat stuff off plan every now and again. I say no. My mother in law is worst. She thinks my whole diet is bad for me. I just nod and ignore her. (I ignore her because 281lbs was fricking bad for me!!!!!!!!)

So keep with it! Your next weigh in will thank you.

It's understandable to look for it, but don't expect the instant reward of weight loss for your better habits. These things take time and there will be lots of ups and downs! And I'm saying this as supportively and as kindly as possible.

Something that really helped me in my darkest times was reminding myself that I simply want to be healthier. Weight loss is simply a great side effect of getting healthier, of feeling better, of having more energy. And think of that every time you're tempted to go to the store for junk . . . how will that junk make you feel once you've eaten it?

And be stubborn with your family! I've been stubborn about being healthy no matter what by doing my own thing and it's definitely paid off over time.

Good luck to you, you can do this!

Yes, you have been doing so well---don't look over that success just because the scale is being stubborn. The scale will move eventually. What matters is that you are doing the right things--and that it awesome.

Here's some dust to help the scale move for tomorrow.

Say, "I'm offering chicken and salad tonight" (or just salad... or a little chicken... whatever diet plan you're on). Then tell hubby, "If you guys also want pizza, that's great! I'm just going to go upstairs and lie down/do errand/visit a friend/whatever".

There is nothing wrong with multiple small courses for dinner.

When out, you order First, and eat your portion First, and claim "I'm so full, but let's wrap that (food they're trying to push on you) up, that would make a good lunch for someone".

I'm in the throes of it myself!!!

You don't need to change anything. If you keep doing what you're doing, the weight will come off. All you need is some patience to get you through the predictable fluctuations in weight.

Thanks so much for the encouragment everyone! The family ended up getting their pizza and junk food and i went to bed early with a new book...had a great sleep and feel better today. Im going to wait to weigh myself until the end of the week so i dont get discouraged!

@ianG lol my mother in law is terrible too! I feel bad ignoring her calls (daily) but she is always so negative it drives me crazy!

@Elladorine its very true...eating the junk would make me feel terrible not to mention that one serving turns into countless servings and horrible cravings for more and more! Focusing on being healthy is definitely the way to go.

@katie9399 lol the stubborn scale...best friend when it goes down and worst enemy when it doesnt!!

@inkrid my family has never once heard me say im so full...im hoping that once I loose more weight my stomach will shrink and ill actually feel that sensation!!

@freelancemomma patience has never been my strength.... I want everything to happen now!! Lol

I'm so happy for you, that you stayed on plan! I think having enough patience to get through the slow parts might be the hardest thing, but there will be slow parts no matter what you do. I always try to imagine that there are a set number of days where I'm not gonna see a loss, so every day that I have no loss is actually a win bc I now have one less to worry about.

Have you tried making a flatbread/tortilla/pita pizza? There are so many high fiber/low carb brands that are between 80-100 calories each. (Fiber One, La Tortilla Factory, Ole Wellness, and Flatout light come to mind)

My little one and boyfriend love them. That way you can all have your own portioned personalized pizza, even you! Nobody feels deprived and everybody gets to cater to their own tastes.

You can end up with a delicious pizza for 200 calories, or even a more decadent one for a few calories more.

Stick with it, Sologirl! Your are doing the right thing for yourself. My DH thinks my weight would just fly off if I did 20 situps every night. LOL. Don't I wish...

Off topic: Here I am living in the desert in southern California, but as part of my family history research, I have actually been to Goderich, ON! I was there after that storm that destroyed so much of the town. Goderich and Huron county are great places to visit.
