Default Who lost weight with calorie counting and less excersize? Help me.

Hi Guys,

Im new and a single mom, so i dont really have time or the money to go to the gym.
I try to work out a little at home, or play soccer with my liitle oy (3years old).
But thats it, sometimes i dont even have the time to do both.
I work everyday from 8 to 16.30.

My mom and cousin all very slim looking people, they live with me. Whick is hard sometimes, cause im always the fat one. Sometimes its even a battle with my cousin. She would like look at my plate and then take less food than me (and belive me i already eat less). That just makes me feel even worse. Sometimes when i eat something and i think im overdoing it, i will throw up my food. I know its bad.
I try to stay under the 1024 cal without excersize, and if i do excersize i dont eat it back.

Anyway back to the opic

I would like to know who lost weght with calorie counting and almost no excersize?

Needless to say throwing up is NOT ok! But I would suggest upping cals to 1200. And take a walk with your lil one every other day or so. IMO

Make sure you are actually measuring your portion sizes. If you are not, then you could be way underestimating how many calories you are taking in.

Try drinking only water. It is soooo easy to drink your calories without even realizing it. I about flipped out when I added up all the calories I drank in a day! Yikes! Now it is mainly water for me. (Just as an example my homemade coffee in the morning was around 300-400 calories per cup with the amount of sugar and creamer I was using. I drank 2-3 cups at that calorie amount. Now I only have one cup with 2 tbs measured creamer for a total of 70 calories.)

You can lose weight with just calorie counting. You need to be consistent and measure every ingredient you eat. When I first started I ate mostly bland boring foods until I got the hang of what kept me full and stayed within calorie range.

I know you said you don't have time to work out but make time. At least 3 days a week go for a 30 minute walk with your son in the stroller. Just do it. You can go before or after work, choice is yours.

a 5.1 foot (156 cm) sedentary woman needs 1575 calories per day. When you diet you should be taking in at leas 1,200 or 1,300 calories.

If you go too much below your requirements, you will become listless, your metabolism will slow, you will not have much energy and you may get sick. You will also feel so hungry that you will most likely give up on dieting-- which is why so many diets fail.

Exersise is good for proper body function and hormone function. Many hormones are involved with both weight gain and weight loss-- among them, insulin-- Keeping your insulin sensitive is very important to not getting bad diseases. Exercise does not require Gym fees or fancy equipment. It is simply "moving." House work, yard work, or walks are still considered exercise. Getting a stroller and taking a half hour walk with your little boy would be good exercise. You don't need to "power walk" just a steady stroll. If you do not want to walk by yourself, enlist the help of a few friends, start a lunch hour walking club at work, or walk at a school yard track or inside of a building like a mall. Walk up stairs in tall buildings.

Weight lifting is again, lifting weights, and does not require much in the way of equipment. Some milk jugs filled with water are heavy enough for most women. Also most of the more effective exercises like lunges, push ups do not require weights or equipment. There are plenty of books, videos and web sites on doing "equipment free" exercises.

On the weekends, go on outings that require walking-- with your son, of course. The zoo, the museum-- a lot of places that a person can get exercise. You will also be a good role model for your child because he will see mom as an active person who eats right and exercises. There is also a component of "mind enrichment" that must (or should) be provided by parents -- and does not need to cost much.

I think a lot of people give up on the idea of exercise because they think they have to get into a formal program, or spend money. The television and fitness gurus, have made exercise seem like an expensive, difficult thing, when it is just the idea of getting out and moving. Once you begin to do it, you will realize that you feel much better.

working from 8am to 4:30 pm should not be making you so tired that you cannot play a game with your child or work out. The more exercise you do, the more energy you will have.

Give it a try!

Hi All,

Thank you, i do play with him and go for long walks with my mom and son.
I play soccer with him just to be able to do some excersize.
Its not that i go home and sit on the couch.

I try to do something after work, either walking outside, playing soccer or running in my living room for good 20 minutes, after that i start cooking ans ometimes cleaning, then we take a batch me and my son.

I eat in portions, making sure i write down everything i eat and follow the 1025Cal allowed.

The problem is, is that i dont wanna be trying like this and then not losing weight, caus i will just give up then.

I started this monday with 167lbs on whensday it was 163 and today its 161.3. I weigh every morning before eating anything.
Is my scale lying to me?

I always feel hungry when doing calorie deficit and portioning, but that's because I'm used to snacking all of the time whenever I felt hungry. If it gets unbearable, eat something healthy, or drink water or something low calorie.

Also, stop making this a competition with your cousin. This is for YOU, not anyone else. If she is deliberately doing things to make you feel bad, tell her to stop it. You have to set boundaries with other people and tell them exactly how their actions are affecting you. You will not succeed if you don't get the emotional stuff out of the way.

This is not a healthy way to lose weight. Not eating after 4:30 is ridiculous because your body has no fuel until breakfast the next morning. Eating less than 1200 calories means you aren't getting adequate nutrition. It also sounds like you might benefit from counseling since you are using bulimia at times. As for exercise, if you don't do enough you'll end up a thin fat person because you lose muscle along with fat. You need strength training at least 2 times a week to preserve lean body mass. You are just getting started so you will have a big loss of water weight. It isn't fat.

I lost 50 pounds by cutting calories alone. I only started exercising after reaching my goal weight. For most of my life I've lost weight without exercise. They say that weight loss happens 80% in the kitchen and 20% in the gym, so it's definitely doable. I agree you should raise your calories to 1,200 minimum. (My own weight loss figure has always been around 1,500 cals.) The key is consistency -- not every single day, but from week to week. I don't necessarily agree that you NEED to weigh and measure everything (though some people find it helpful). You just need to be honest with yourself.

Everyone seems to agree, ur cal intake is too low. Ur doing harm not good. I know it seems crazy to think increase food to decrease weight but listen to the veterans at this.

Ok i will try, but it actually fills me up.

I eat 2 boiled egges in the mrning with half a cup of coffee.
I drink water the whole day, no soda's.

For luch i eat half a cup of rice with veggies and fish or meat.
In the afternoon maybe a biscuit. It keeps me full until the evenings.

Im scared that i would gain weight and just wanna give up if i dont see results.

And now everyone is advising me to more, im scared.

It took me 10 months, so 5 pounds a month -- a nice easy pace. I've now been maintaining for close to 2 years. I eat about 2,000 cals per day and exercise for 45 minutes 4 times a week, so nothing too extreme. Some days are harder than others, but overall it's still very doable.

5 foot 1 inch? If you're eating a variety of whole foods including lots of veggies you're probably fine with 1000 calories a day from a micronutrient standpoint. If you're fine with the amount of food and not feeling deprived I wouldn't worry about it. Finally, no reason you need to worry about when you're eating. You can safely ignore those comments too.

As for exercise - brisk walking 3 times a week for 30 minutes is plenty for health purposes.

I lost my first 61 pounds through diet alone and just walking to/from work every day which is what I did anyway.

I lost my first 10 pounds just by skipping dinner. I still don't eat dinner but my breakfasts got smaller and lunch turned to a salad with fish. Amazing fish too.

After 61lbs down, I then stepped up the exercise. I didn't need to but it did turbo charge my weight loss (but also made it more volatile) and has made me feel healthier and look better.

Then there is the beer...
