Controlling myself at parties

  • FWIW, here are my party rules:

    1. Always have a drink in your hand, whether alcoholic (my perference ) or non-alcoholic.
    2. Focus on the people, not the food. That's what parties are about right?
    3. Serve lots of healthier fare, like veggies. You are in charge of the food so you get to choose. Personally I could eat chopped red peppers all night with no dip.
    4. I'm a serious sucker for sweets so any sweets I serve are ones that I do not care for--especially stuff with coconut. Ugh!
    5. No seconds!
    6. Keep yourself busy making sure that everyone has what they need, like drinks, etc. Clean up the food area, wipe counters--you get the idea, keep moving. Be the hostess with the mostest!

Your weekend sounds like fun! Best of luck! When you're able to take the focus off of food and on the people around you, you'll be surprised how much more fun it is!
  • Quote: I know a "plate of treats" should probably be "one treat" but I'm going for improvement and not perfection here!
This is how I lost all of my weight! I figured out where I was (10,000 calories per DAY!), and picked a small improvement. Once I was good at it, I made another small improvement. I still do it!

Congrats on planning and good luck!
  • Good luck.

I have no wisdom to offer, since I'm always that person who eats so much at parties that other people comment on it. However, I am a maintainer who is generally pretty happy with how things are going in the weight department - party fouls so to speak are not enough to totally derail.
