Today something amazing happened to me at the grocery store.
I left my cart at the end of an aisle as I ran back to the produce to grab some apples I had forgotten. When I came back to my cart it was like I was looking at it for the first time.
Where were the chips, the candy, cookies, mac and cheese, top ramen, pizza?? Instead I saw TONS of veggies, fruit, chicken breast, black beans, Greek yogurt, roasted red pepper hummus??! Is this really my cart?!
It wasn't a Monday, I wasn't stocking up on "healthy stuff" to start a new diet only to end up at a McDonald's drive thru anyway. This was just me grocery shopping for food I actually wanted and have been eating. I felt so proud of how far I've come. The check out lady probably thought I was nuts because I could not stop smiling! haha. Just wanted to share my NSV with everyone. I can't believe all the crap I used to put in my shopping cart...
Anyone else notice big changes in the way they shop now?
Love this! The clerk probably thought you had a new special person in your life with all your smiling. You are in love with your new lifestyle. Good for you.
Congratulations! This is such a great feeling! Something similar happened to me last fall. I used to mainly buy ice cream, chips, candy, cookies and now I buy most of my things for weekly grocery shopping at the farmers market. Sometimes I still don't recognize my cart!
Yep, I've noticed the same thing. My other aha moment came when my grands were going to be staying with me for the weekend, and I realized that I was stocking up on ice cream, potato chips, hot dogs, powdered sugar donuts, etc. I wasn't going to eat them, but why would I want them to start down this path when I could encourage them to eat something healthy instead. Their parents have done a very good job of getting them to like fruit, cheese, and the occasional treat for snacks. Or they'll have PB on an apple. So, back went all the junk stuff and I filled up on fresh fruits and veggies for them. They were happy because they were allowed to have one of my low calories/low carb ice cream bars for a treat, but had good food for their meals and snacks.
The difference I notice the most is how many isles in a supermarket I just SKIP. Or to be correct, how little isles I use: fruits + vegetable, some cheese, some meat, yoghurt. Skipping all the cans, processed meat, sweets, snacks, well most of it really. Makes my shopping faster

A few weeks ago a lady behind me at the check-out remarked that she was jealous that I had such a healthy-looking cart, and without thinking I said it was nothing special, only the normal things I pick up every week.
And a few months back the cashier remarked I had a healthy-looking cart and mentioned she was trying to lose weight. I told her it can definitely be done; I then pulled out my before photos on my phone and wowed her.
A few years back I didn't actually do a lot of shopping, and when I did it was for convenience food. The bulk of my eating was take out and fast food!
