Alyssa Autopsy 03-20-2013 11:06 AM

what is your body shape?

honestly i'm just curious
are you

apple-shaped (big in the middle)
hourglass-shaped (larger on the top and bottom, thinner in the middle)
pear-shaped (larger on the bottom)
inverted triangle (larger on the top)
NEW... potato :D (big all over, possibly lumpy)
NEW... banana or ruler (when you are straight up and down, also seen as a boy shape)

i have a big belly, but i consider myself hourglass-shaped because my breasts and behind are quite large, and i have very little fat over my ribs. i have always had a large booty and bustline for my size... when i was a size 0 in the waist my booty was a size 3 and my boobies were a C-cup.

MzJuicyD 03-20-2013 11:08 AM

I'm definitely a pear!!! Makes buying jeans so darn hard! lol

Katydid77 03-20-2013 11:10 AM

I'm hourglass.

Which is nice, but I'm such a short model! LOL

I keep D+ cup size in bras, even when I'm 32 inch around.

My waist is always about 10 inches different than my bust or hips size, no matter what my weight that stays proportionate.

When I'm small, I can easily where size 6 skirts, but pants are always 8's because of them actually having to fit my thighs/hips. It's annoying because I get that 'apple bottom' look and my pants gap, and I can rarely go under a medium top b/c of my bust.

SweetAsCanBe 03-20-2013 11:13 AM

I am an apple. Big everywhere but more so in the middle.

emid78 03-20-2013 11:24 AM

Definitely an Apple. Kind of like a candy apple...stick legs and a round top.

Jealous!!!!! lol. I want to be hour glass shaped! lol

Missy Krissy 03-20-2013 11:30 AM

Apple/Inverted triangle. I count them as the same thing.

ETA: I guess it's actually banana. I just put my measurements through the body type calculator I posted.
Bust: 40 Waist: 35.5 Hip: 40

AnnaGal 03-20-2013 11:36 AM

I've always been an hourglass, now I have this belly which makes me almost an apple-- that's part of how I know I need to lose (besides the BMI).

betsy2013 03-20-2013 11:43 AM

Definitely a pear -- a very large mutated pear!!! I could possibly go with hourglass if the top and bottom -- both of which are large -- were even slightly proportional to each other. However, my sister at one point weighed 25 pounds more than I did but could wear pants 2 sizes smaller because she's apple and I take up a row of seating by myself. Oh, if only Rubenesque women were back in style!

L J 03-20-2013 11:44 AM

An apple, I guess. I carry my extra weight in the middle. I have very broad shoulders, no boobs (32B) and narrow hips with a small butt. So mostly, I'm build like a football player. ;)

Daki 03-20-2013 11:59 AM

A wide hourglass. My last measurements were 48-38-48.

pinkmonkeyslippers 03-20-2013 12:04 PM

Is "potato" an option? LOL

I guess I'm closest to apple.

if Rubenesque women were in, i wouldn't care about weighloss other than for health reasons (since gaining weight my breathing and heart condition and stamina all got worse) but at the same time, i'm always being hit on by chubby chasers so remember... Rubenesque women ARE in... in the eyes of the beholder ;D not everyone wants a twig!

HAHAHAHA - Someone I know refers to himself as a "skinned potato" (he is very fair-skinned) and I can't ever not laugh.

I am a banana or whatever, my measurements are 30-24-34 or something but I don't have wide hips and my shoulders and arms stick out (weightlifting! hurrrrrrgggggfffff) so I'm not pear shaped.

elvislover324 03-20-2013 12:10 PM

LOL @ potato, I think I am one of those too!!

I think I am a very wide hourglass too, but I don't really know. I find it so hard to compare my shape with samples I read or see online.

CherryQuinn 03-20-2013 12:15 PM

Hourglass? my measurements at 199 5'7 are 40/39-32-39. I am probably hourglass/straight shaped. I definetly have a smaller waist but it flucuates between 7-9 inches diff between my butt and boobs (they are usually the same but one drops an inch first, then the other drops it). At my weight now I carry my weight on the front of my stomach and my love handles. My ribs are visable as is my collarbone and shoulderblades.

thats def hourglass. that sounds like basically the shape i am. my collarbones arent totally visible but you can see my ribs if i stand the right way and my shoulderblades have always been noticeable. i basically have big butt and boobs with a big belly and love handles, but because of the lack of fat over my ribs i have an hourglass shape. its a fat hourglass, but an hourglass nonetheless.

Lol I am a fat hourglass as well. People get worried over certain bones of mine sticking out now and I'm like man I still have a huge fat reserve to go XD

yeah and everyone's body is different. for instance, an ex of mine had 2 kids and has a flat and toned belly, whereas a friend of mine has never had a kid in their life and is skinny everywhere, but has a little belly pooch (which i had and will again have)

Radiojane 03-20-2013 12:40 PM

I just went to look at my measurements for this post and accidentally deleted all my measurements from January 1!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I am most definitely an hour glass. My belly is fat, but it hangs very low. The first place I narrowed out was under my bust and at my natural waist. I have a 42 H cup and my hip measurement was in the 60's if I recall correctly.

H cup!? damn! do you have back pain from them? i cant tell if going up to a DD hurt me or not cuz ive always had back pain

celigirl88 03-20-2013 01:06 PM

It's hard to say with me. I have a huge chest, a little bit of a belly and very muscular legs so maybe hourglass?

elvislover324 03-20-2013 01:12 PM

I just got out my tape measure to check things out, I never did this before so I didn't really know where to measure. But I did confirm....I am a POTATO!!

Psychic 03-20-2013 01:12 PM

I don't really know my shape. I'm short, broad-shouldered with a small chest and wide hips. I suppose pear shape, but I do know when I lose weight that I lose from my sides first and get nice a nice looking waist. My body does store most of my fat on my stomach and behind though.

I've never had back pain stemming from my breast size. Most of the time it's poor posture or sciatic pain. They don't feel heavy to me, and in a right sized bra I have enough support. Keep in mind though I am definitely large framed. Here are some pics of me at my highest and now: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/300-...ml#post4675386

Elvislover You're a potato with a pool in your backyard. I think that makes you even cooler than a California Raisin!

Keep Moving Forward 03-20-2013 01:33 PM

My bust & hip measurements are nearly equal while my waist is smaller, so I'd like to think of myself as being an hourglass but currently my belly is so big that I dunno. Maybe I'm an overstuffed hourglass.

Quirky Chick 03-20-2013 01:47 PM

Plus size version of hour glass, I suppose. Very top-heavy, and hippy.

You just made me spit my water out laughing!!! Too funny!! I still do have to see if I can get myself a bodysuit!! OR....a potato sack!! :D

berryblondeboys 03-20-2013 02:02 PM

I'm in between an hour glass and a pear.

See... when I think of hour glass, I think of a curvy from the front shape, but if almost all your inches come from your boobs, you don't look curvy from the front.

Like, my under breast measurement currently is 34. My waist is 34" too. When you add in my DD/E/F cup bra, that adds 5" so it seems more hourglass as it's then 39.5"x34x43.

WHen I drop this freaking weight, most of it will come from the waist. At 165 I was 38.5x30.5x41 I think.

sparklegirl07 03-20-2013 02:07 PM

Im definitely a banana or a straight. The last time I measured I was 36.5/29.5/36.5. Totally straight!

I'm an apple. Right now, my arms, legs, face etc are just fine. I still need to loose 20lbs and it is all in my stomach. Darn.

7" difference isn't straight!

Song of Surly 03-20-2013 02:25 PM

I did a quiz one time with measurements, and it told me I was a spoon. Yeah, I know, like we need MORE categories, but there ya go. I don't have my measurements with me, but I have a large bust (38 DDD) and hips that are wider than my bust. Where I differ from a pear though is 1. I don't have much of a butt, and 2. no "thunder thighs". I carry weight like a doughnut around my hips, so it looks like I have a bit of a shelf where my hips are (which sit high), plus a little more weight in my lower stomach. Then, the lower half of my butt is relatively flat, in comparison at least.

The "shelf" was part of the reason I started losing weight. It came along more promintently as I got bigger, and I hated the way it looked in dresses. It's starting to decrease as I lose weight.

Crow 03-20-2013 02:39 PM

A short, round apple. I have a huge chest even when I'm skinny, I always put weight on my belly first, and my bottom/thighs are medium to large even at my best.

Robin41 03-20-2013 02:54 PM

I've never really been able to figure this out. Definitely not an apple or a pear, but not really a classic hourglass, either. Or rather, I look like an hourglass from the front in that my shoulders and hips are wider than my waist, but if I turn sideways I virtually disappear. I am crazy thin from the side with small breasts and not much butt.

Maybe an hourglass from the front and a ruler from the side.

Saga 03-20-2013 03:07 PM

Banana - no hips, no boobs, no butt! I'm pretty darn straight up and down. The good side is that I can put on pants without unbuttoning/zipping them. The bad side is that my pants tend to fall right off me 'cause I don't have a butt or hips to hold them up!

Mozzy 03-20-2013 03:21 PM

Hourglass.... Always have been, but when I started becoming an apple, that was my wake up call

This is what I always think of when I think of categories:

http://www.calculator.net/body-type-calculator.html

That's an interesting website. To quote, "A study of more than 6,000 women conducted at North Carolina State University in 2005 revealed that 46% of women were banana-shaped; just over 20% were pear-shaped; just under 14% were apple-shaped; and only 8% were hourglass-shaped. The hourglass is normally accepted as the "ideal" female shape in Western countries."

elvislover324 03-20-2013 03:52 PM

Thanks Missy Krissy! That was helpful with my estimated measurements from earlier. My results: Pear or Spoon or Bell (Triangle upward)

freelancemomma 03-20-2013 03:53 PM

Hourglass, minus the big boobs. I'm just a B cup.

F.
