Yeah, your fat stores all sorts of hormones and its also the place in your body where you store toxins. Thats why sometimes while dieting you feel sluggish - its not always the calorie deficit (although if you aren't getting enough vitamins or are eating too little that could be part of the cause) but often cause losing weight is sort of taxing on the body - you have to process all sorts of junk.

One more reason I love this site! Not only is it supportive, it's educational...although, there are some things I wish I could unlearn today....gunt? haha :o: :dizzy:

Gunts and FUPA's LOL! I wonder if I have one since I have a fat roll below my muffin top! LOLOLOL

Been there done that, hugs

Oh lord, it gets better when you get to my end because everyone thinks you're tiny and can fit into EVERYTHING. I get told on a regular basis at my job that I can fit into 4s and 6s (even though I'm wearing 8s and 10s), and my co-worker today told me that I if I lost anymore weight I'd fit into a size 1 pair of shorts I was holding! Um, my pelvis isn't small enough to fit into a size 1! Or, you get comments like the one from my mother the other night, "Okay, Lauren, a size 8 is small enough! Anymore and you're gonna look anorexic!"

People will never understand. Just live your life and let them be in their fogs and don't worry about it. :)

Very true Lauren. I know they can't help it, in their perspective, and extra large looks HUGE, where as I have to do a mental check in the morning and remind myself that the "tiny" 3X shirt I just pulled out of my closet will fit me.

But, on the opposite end of the spectrum, they're great reminders of my progress. They're the first to remind you when you're fretting about having 100 pounds left to lose that the number used to be 200!

Men have "FUPA" too .. so apparently weight loss makes them a little longer because less of it is buried in there .... Fun fact!

LOL. This is true and I know it from a conversation I had with my fiance when I told him what he thought his length was was out of date. I made him measure himself later to prove I was correct. And I was. He was flabbergasted (But happy lol).

Hopefully that anecdote wasn't too crass!

Count me in on the people who had to google search!

It is hard to keep proper perspective and thinner people who have never had weight issues REALLY don't get it, but they sometimes can help us with better perspective - like remembering how far we've come versus being stuck in the "how far we have yet to go.".

IanG 03-07-2013 02:56 PM

I just googled. Wish I hadn't...

Radiojane 03-07-2013 03:01 PM

I'm sorry to have initiated so many more people into that phrase... but to be fair, I learned it on 3FC!

LockItUp 03-07-2013 04:21 PM

This thread has me cracking UP!!! This is exactly why I LOVE 3FC!

Too true though, Radiojane. Weight loss and all that comes along with it is something that one cannot understand unless/until it is experienced. People, for the most part, come from a genuine and good place, but a very clueless one as well.

First off Radiojane, let me just commend you on how well you have done so far, 115 pounds is amazing, also, I understand the pain of "skinny" friends asking you about wearing a bikini. One... I cant see myself ever wearing a true bikini and two... even afer weight loss there is always extra skin and residual stretch marks. What I have found that helps is remembering that even little successes are success. And, if you can become truly happy on the inside, you will be more likely to accept yourself at any size. Easier said than done but I definately feel like its important to remember you have to love you first.

"Chub Rub" new term for me!
This is also my biggest problem. As my thighs will et through a pair of work pants in as little as 4 weeks. Anthing lasting longer than 2 months is gold. It's really frustrating, and I never buy anything over $20 because I'll just have to buy it again soon anyways.
I also have friends that think my new lifestle is a bit crazy. a coworker of mine told me last week that she would rather eat what she wants and be happy. (she wasn't a thin girl mind you, but just nicely plump) I was like I do eat what I want and I am happy with it. They just don't understand how i can be happy eating veggies and drinking water.

Elladorine 03-07-2013 11:54 PM

I'm too internet savvy to not already know what a FUPA is. :p

But yeah, friends that have never been there don't understand, they seem to think my body should perk right up to what it would have been had I not spent the entirety of my life obese. My poor boobs . . . I'll likely never be able to wear tank tops comfortably unless I have a breast lift, and I'll definitely never be able to wear a strapless dress, even once I hit goal. But people think I should being wearing low-cut stuff right now to show off how far I've come. Um, no . . . weight and gravity have done awful things to the tops of my breasts . . . :halfempty

Radiojane 03-08-2013 03:58 PM

No kidding ella! and I can't BELIEVE How many plus size strapless outfits there are out there, never mind regular size! Who can pull those off without duct tape and chicken wire?
