Default You know what's a great alternative to the gym?

Spotify! Or any other music program you have. Don't feel like going to the gym? DANCE YOUR BUTT OFF!

I tell you what I think I enjoy doing that more than any other exercise there is to do. I just crank up the tunes and let my body do the work and I don't care how silly I look. I jump around, I shake my butt, I wave my hands in the air like I just don't care. Most fun work out ever.

Thought I'd share.

I can do 3 push ups now. Oh snap. The end.

I am still at work (blech) and am blaring the tunes. And yes, I sing loudly, do yoga poses when I am reading or reviewing documents,, and grab my music-playing phone to take to the bathroom and the printer. (Yep -I take the long way to both.) Been here since 9 am yesterday, and will be here until 6 pm tonight. Nice to get a little movement in.:-)

I love dancing. I don't do it often enough. Nothing better than to put in the ear phones and just move. Doesn't feel like exercise at all.

This is like my most common work out these days now that the days are short and wet. It's good fun and if I catch myself in the mirror I have a great laugh too.. I recommend this to people a lot when they say they're not motivated to work out.

This was me last night with my hula hoop! I said "Just go hoop to one song." 7 songs later I was sweating and had to break for water and to open some windows.
So much fun!

Sea girl what an awesome idea. I am heading to target this afternoon for a hula hoop. Thanks for the idea!

I'm such a bad dancer, but I suppose when I'm home alone.... I'm only a fabulous dancer when no one is watching.... I love the hula hoop idea!

LOL I got a hula hoop a few months ago, I was good at it as a kid--now I cannot get more than one or two go arounds, but I keep trying. And I will.

I love putting on my own music for cardio and weight workouts!

For everyone interested in hula hooping you should get an adult sized one! You will be surprised at how easy it is to waist hoop, and then I suggest getting some Hoopnotica dvds! I can do a bunch of cool hoop tricks and it's definitely a really fun workout! Joint friendly, but when you're learning chest/shoulder hooping you might get a little bruised. Oh yeah, legs/ankles too! I bruised my legs so bad... >.>

But I can now move a hula hoop from my knees to my hips to my waist to my chest and back down. And I'm a pretty big girl, so everyone should definitely try it!

Yes, get an adult sized hoop! Try Esty, the good ones are handmade (and easy to make, I made mine with plumbing supplies and sparkly tape! Google instructions...)
And don't get a weighted one! You will break a foot or bruise a kidney.

The adult sized ones are much easier to keep up, and the hoop should be about as high as your belly button, when its standing on the ground. Smaller in diameter and it will be hard to keep up.

it's a super workout, and yes, you will have some bruises in the beginning but it's worth it!

Yep. Adult sized hula hoop. Many of them are weighted 3-5 or more pounds. This helps especially if you are plus sized or apple shaped because the kids hoops really won't work. I found mine on clearance at Walmart for $7. It is Danskin.

I love dancing to the TV, the Wii, my ipod, whatever music I can find, too. It really adds to my fitbit steps.
