In need if major support...

Hi All!

I am turning to 3FC for support, am at a major crossroads in my life and i need to lose this weight. I am looking for some buddies to go on this journey with me...

I have never done this blog/forum thing before, so be gentle!

Hi there, and :wel3fc:

I'd recommend looking around...we have lots of forums where you could jump in and contribute.

We have the 300+ club, for those with starting weights over that number, and the 100 Lb club, for those working on losing or who have lost 100 lb or more.

We also have groups by age range (20-somethings, 30-somethings, etc) and by eating plan - there is truly something for everyone.

Look around, then introduce yourself and dive on in.

I can't wait to get to know you better!

Hi and welcome! I don't know what I'd do without these people. I wish I had known about them in my prior attempts to lose weight; I probably would've been a lot more successful!!

Best support I can offer is actual facts. Here is the number one fact:

Fat loss is an equation of energy. Use more energy in a day than you ingest and you will lose fat. Energy is measured in calories.

Beyond educating yourself the goal shouldn't be to lose weight. That is easy to do. Your goal should be to find a WOE (Way Of Eating) that you can live with for the rest of your life. That way you can lose the weight and keep it off, forever.

Exactly what johnP said. Find a method you can realistically do for the rest of your life, don't think of it as a diet. Think of it as a new way of living. Embrace weight lifting, it's fun, and helps burn more calories. I calorie count and I use my fitness pal for calculating calories, and keeping track of what I eat.

^completely agree^. during my weight gain "relapse" where i put a ton back on it was because i stopped coming here. well technically it was because i ate everything in sight but it started because i stopped coming here. ;)

if i were you i wouldnt even bother with other forums, they always end up discouraging me. this place offers support and encouragement with a very limited amount of judgment or rudeness (you can never completely get rid of those people)

keep coming back, post often, read other people's stories. there are women on here who have lost hundreds of pounds and can help, and others who are struggling to lose right now and can relate.

do you have a plan for losing weight yet?

welcome!

Yup! And realize this isn't a linear journey. Despite what Jon says about math, our bodies aren't math equations so don't just use the scale to measure success. Take photos, use measurements, use "distance I can walk/run/bike", use blood pressure/cholesterol/etc., as gauges for your journey, in addition to the scale.

I agree because there will be times the scale stalls but your size will still decrease. It's nice to have pictures for proof to look back on so you keep your motivation.

I always enjoy reading your posts, intelligent, well-said, and on the money!

This is a great point which I probably should have added ... learn the difference between fat loss and weight loss because the scale will mess with your head. You can lose fat and have your weight stay the same or even go up!
