Default I'm pretty sure I'm neurotic

Yesterday I made some air popped popcorn for a snack. I weighed out 2 servings (which is approx. 1/4 cup measured out, but I don't trust measuring) of the kernals and popped them up. After it was done I noticed there were A LOT of unpopped kernals in the bowl, way more than usual; and you know what I did? I picked them all out and weighed them, and sure enough it was an ENTIRE serving -- to the GRAM. But seriously, who does that?

Have I gone off the deep end or is this relatable?

It is totally relatable, but that doesn't mean I'm not also off the deep end...

I count out exactly 24 frosted mini wheat's cereal bites in the morning - but I cheat and pick out the ones with the most frosting lol!

I stir dark chocolate chips in my cereal in the morning (something like the recipe at the bottom of this article: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...-instinct-diet). I use precisely 12 chocolate chips.

I would SO give myself back the 1 serving of popcorn in some way if I had your experience, LockItUp! It's only fair.

Dieting actually makes us more neurotic and hyper focused - it is a psychological byproduct of calorie restriction and there's some fascinating studies on which chemical responses in the brain produce this and why. Try not to be, but don't stress a little preoccupation. It goes away eventually in most folks who went predisposed to OCD and anxiety.

Love it. There is always someone more crazy out there!

Sometimes I get really paranoid that the fountain drink I got really isn't diet and that the person who filled it up put the diet in the regular one and the regular in the diet one and I'm unknowingly drinking hundreds of calories worth of soda (forget the fact that I can taste the artifical sweetener).

<----- that's me celebrating my craziness.

I do that too! I just double check, I can taste regular cola almost immediately by the thicker, syrupy texture.

Oh I am totally neurotic. It worries me for when I get to maintenance. Am I still going to be counting croutons and getting my measuring spoons out? I am always surprised by the amount of calories in food, so I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to stop calorie counting.

Not to rain on the parade, but don't popcorn measurements already assume the presence of some unpopped kernals? So by taking them out, don't you actually increase your calorie intake?

I don't really know if this is true, but I like to see other crazies worrying about it.

I don't think it does when it's the kernels alone in the bag. Microwaved kind, maybe. But the serving size in regular popcorn of which you have to pop yourself is just by measurement/weight.

I love your new avatar, Steph! Your face looks much more thin and your jaw has better definition, too. Very pretty
