I calculated it and supposedly I'm supposed to eat 1117 to lose weight?!? I am eating less than 1400 calories a day. Not more, but my calories change every day (1100-1400)
I am 146-148 lbs, 5'1, 23 years old. I want to get to 120 first, which is my happy content weight, and then aim for my "super goal: 105-110" if even possible.
I workout 6x a week, doing Insanity/Turbofire Hybrid. I'm just wondering if I am eating too much? I don't think so but I'd to hear your input anyway. Please help me, I don't want to do this the wrong way. Thank you so much, guys!
IMO you're definitely not eating too much, especially considering how much you're working out. I'm 55, exercise only moderately, and eat 2,000 cals per day to maintain my weight at 140 lbs. I know everyone is different, but I'm pretty confident you'll lose weight just fine if you continue what you're doing.
I'm not familiar with the exact workout you're doing but I am familiar with insanity and it is a great exercise program if you're trying to increase your endurance.
For fat loss and body composition I think you would be better off lifting heavy weights focusing on compound movements and progressive overload.
Anyways to answer your question I would say if you're going to be doing a hour of intense cardio six days a week you should lose fat pretty easily on 1400 calories.

My opinion? It's just about right. Are you starving? Are you getting enough protein? I lost after each kid (20-30 pounds gained/lost) eating about 1800 calories a day and working out (I also did strength training though). Some days were 1100 and some days 2500, but it averaged out. Right now I'm older and finding I have to stick to about 1400, 1200 is goal IF I'm not starving, but I am losing fat and inches. Muscle mass is key as you age and while I've never done Insanity or TurboFire do you do any with that?

Thank you for the response, I'd say they're mix of strength/cardio/endurance training. Turbofire is a mix between kickboxing and average HIIT. Insanity is also the same (lots of lunges, squats, jumps) and also HIIT.
I find that those calculators are a good thing to use to get an initial starting point and then thrown away afterwards.
I think a person's calorie amount should be the highest they can eat while feeling good and still losing weight. If that's 1200, so be it. If it's 2000, well, I wish I were you. That takes a few weeks to find that magic number and then can change over time. It always seems to be a moving target, which is why I never obsess over concrete calorie limits.
I'm not differentiating here between fat and muscle loss - just scale weight in general. Once you get into the specifics of those, you spend much more time thinking about types of exercise you're doing and the types of food you're consuming.

To lose any weight? or to lose 2 pounds a week? BIG difference.
If you're doing HIIT, you might actually want to eat more. More than anything, just make sure you get a lot of protein. If you're doing HIIT as well as other stuff on top of it, you are gonna need the protein. Anyway, eat as much as you're comfy with. Eat as many calories as it takes to feel satisfied. Not full, not hungry.

Overall, I tend not to look at the lbs on the scale, but go a lot on measurements. I guess I want to lose the "weight" enough that I can see/feel the difference!

If you're more concerned about measurements then you might want to go with JohnP's suggestion and lift weights.
