super embarrassed

some of you ladies may remember me...

i lost 70 lbs in 2009 using this site. i had subsequent gains and losses for a couple years (+/- 10 pounds or so)

this last year i had major health problems and was in and out of hospitals, i know i cant BLAME that, but i think it helped me gain back 40 pounds. about every 3 weeks i got ill and ended up in bed for 7-10 days.

who gains 40 lbs in a year?!?!?!?

i started one blog after another and tried to lose over and over. After looking through my blog, the only consistency was that each time I started again after failing some crash diet I'd put on another 10 lbs. I really COMMITTED one month ago on the 6th. I've lost 13.3 lbs by counting calories (I always lose really fast the first 2 weeks, it's slowing down now).

i hate to say it but ive been too embarrassed to come back. i really thought i had a grip on everything once i lost it all a few years ago. i didnt think id ever be back here with 50 lbs to lose again (at least im not starting out with the other 20)

ive been using the myfitnesspal forums out of shame, haha, but i gotta say its pretty SNARKY over there. i dont feel a lot of support and i dont see others getting much.

so here i am, humbled, and ready to get serious. i missed you ladies!

One quote that has helped me on my weight loss and maintenance journey (and other aspects of life) is this:

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall ~Confucius

You've gone through a tough time, no need to be ashamed or embarrassed. Congrats on the weight lost already; that's great work!

Welcome back!

Aww. You should not be embarrassed. You're not the only one who's been losing and then gaining weight. As long as you're ready to lose those unwanted weight once again and want to look and feel good, its totally okay. At least you are taking care of yourself. So hold your head up high and good luck on your journey.

Sorry to hear about your health issues, and welcome back. Don't be embarrassed- a lot of people gain weight back, and 40 pounds in a year isn't that much (compared to 100 or more, which happens). I personally gained 120lbs back (everything I lost) but we have to just keep trying.

Welcome back and good luck !

Hi Julia,

This is not something to be embarrassed about, you have been struggling this past year with an illness and though you've had some setbacks, the fact that you are coming back proves that you're committed and that you're a fighter! Stay positive above all. You'll beat this!

stimkovs 09-06-2012 09:32 PM

and that's why it's called a practice, not a perfect.

each time we fall, we fall down seven, but we HAVE TO stand up 8.welcome back, be humbled, join in, we all on this journey together.

what i got from your post, is that you are ready to commit- and there is no better fuel to put in the engine then "readiness" and "desire" to do something.

Don't be embarrassed. You made a mistake and now you are trying to fix it. Almost all of us have been in your position.

Welcome back and good luck.

you ladies are so lovely! THATs why i need this site!

Welcome back! Please don't be embarrassed! I joined this site in 2005 at 193 pounds and left in 2006 or 07 at around 145-150 (had already gained a few). When I came back around March of this year I was 220! It happens. All we can do is learn from our re-gains and return to where we can get support. Most of us can completely relate. If anything, be proud that you are at it again. I know how hard it is, never be embarrassed!!!

Nothing to be embarrassed about, but I know the feeling. A few years ago I lost 55 pounds with Weight Watchers, then regained almost all the weight. I couldn't bring myself to go back and face the group leaders again. The upside is that I was able to lose the weight on my own. As you will, too!

Please don't be embarrassed or mad at yourself. It's a journey, sometimes there are roadblocks we encounter and sometimes setbacks, but the fact that you keep going just shows you are still on the road. You'll get there!

I also have to agree, I've been on a few other "weight loss" sites and some people are snarky to downright mean, ripping apart everything you do because their way is "superior." There is no one "right" way and in my opinion anyone that tells you that is trying to convince themselves or sell you something. Just my pet peeve for Friday.

Welcome back and have you thought about joining a check in? Say um this one http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...e-welcome.html (shamless plug). But really I've found most people on this site to be supportive, give you a kick in the butt but not by being hateful, and accountability rocks especially from those going through, starting or just maintaining...everyone in my experience here has had something valuable for me to learn.

ya i was very surprised at their forum. there was a whole lot of judgment and unsolicited "advice".

thanks for all the kind words ladies!
