Share your NSVs!

I love reading everyone's NSVs, if you have one (or 10) please share!!! I could use the inspiration!

I had one this week -- I hadn't been wearing my engagement ring, just my wedding ring, it was just too tight. I had taken both off about 6 months into my pregnancy (so that was about September I think), and squeezed my wedding ring back on in March I believe. But 2 days ago I decided to see how they both felt on, and it fits just like it did before! WOOHOO.

This one is a scale victory, but worth mentioning -- I weigh less than my hubby again! I happened officially 2 weeks ago, but has stayed that way, so I'm callin' it! That one I'm very excited about! I passed him up during my pregnancy (he was about 200-210 then), and he started losing weight in March when I started, but he was well below me. He sits right around 182-185 right now (he's 6'1"), and I'm solidly below 180 now! :carrot:

Amazing Stephanie!

Today, I bought size 28 jeans! It's a bit of vanity sizing but still, it's awesome and they look great.

You achieved a great NSV! Congratulations!

As for me, on July 18, I will have reached one full year of being on this weight loss journey. My NSV this past week was going to the department store to buy some work clothes-literally nothing fit me right anymore, so I had to do it. I saw a suit I liked, but there was no pant size 18. So I tried on the 16 and guess what? They fit! So now I have three new business suits and I have to say, I look pretty kick-*ss in them :)

People must have thought I was making an effort because I had several people tell me how good and slim I looked yesterday when I wore my black suit with a light pink shirt under the jacket. Lots of "nice suit" comments. I had a meeting with my boss' boss, who is the VP of HR, and while she didn't specifically say anything about the suit, it was obvious that I made an impression. I could just tell, you know? The SVP of Marketing also noticed, which was weird because he's so critical of what people wear. I have to admit I looked pretty good :smug: but part of me thought, I must look like a slob most days, given all of the positive comments on how nice I looked!

twinieten 07-12-2012 11:18 PM

Great NSVs! I can remember how great it was when I could put my wedding ring on again. And those pants... nice a** pants! I can also relate to the great feeling of a new, well fitting outfit.

My NSV isn't that exciting, but it's a milestone. Today I decided that I could no longer get away with size large work pants, and pulled them off the hangers to give them to my XL friend who is also losing weight. Even though they are draw string so I can cinch them up, but they are obviously too baggy. I stopped on my way home and replaced a couple with mediums. I'll replace more as funds become available. Luckily, all the tops still fit just fine.

It was a nice feeling purging my closet!

mimsyborogoves 07-12-2012 11:27 PM

I can easily see my feet without having to bend over or suck in! :D

LockItUp 07-12-2012 11:33 PM

@Carbstart - OMG your butt looks amazing in those jeans!!!

These are all great NSVs!!!

I have an NSV coming up on my long range journal, Monday 23 July will be my 8 year "Stop chewing nicotine gum" anniversary.
I stopped smoking on Dec 10, 2002 at 9PM but I continued chewing nicotine gum for about 1.5 years after that.
I know, I know.
My quit date for nicotine gum was 23 July 2004. My 10 year anniversary for stopping smoking is coming up on Dec 10th!

Kitcherella 07-13-2012 03:30 AM

I was laughing last night because I realised I take up less space in bed.
And I have been smoke-free for 4 months.

We all deserve :congrat:

Dreamer2012 07-13-2012 08:07 AM

These are all great NSVs! Well done everyone. :)

What I needed to overcome and how I got to the weight I was, was due to my snacking on junk food. I was thinking about it this morning how much better I am.

For takeaways, the last time I had one was around a month ago. For junk food, the last bar of chocolate I had was around two or three weeks ago. But, the other day I was really wanting one so I said to myself I would go get one the following day but instead of getting a regular sized bar, I would get the smaller sized one. I figured that regardless of the size because it had been a long time, I would be satisfied with whatever I got! So the following day came and my mum actually came home with a mars bar and we decided to share it. It was probably the smallest amount of chocolate I've ever had in one go (mars bars are quite small anyway) but I was spot on about being satisfied with that amount.

I'm so proud of myself for having overcome my junk food habits and drinking fizzy drinks. It's like I'm so new person these days with my litres of water and all my fruit each day! And I feel so much better eating these foods rather than wasting the calories on chocolate bars.

Hotaruchan 07-13-2012 08:08 AM

I can't wear my favorite pair of work pants anymore. I wore them today and the US size 14 waist is now about 5-6'' too big. When I wore a properly fitting belt, they turned into clown pants. Honestly, I was never quite all the way to a 14 so they never really fit, but I had to have them because they match The 10th Doctor's pinstripe suit (hard to find the right color scheme). Go ahead, call me a nerd :p

Also, definitely not a victory, but certainly a change...I got the least subtle eye-undressing ever on the way home from work today. Creeeeeeeepy.

angie7896 07-13-2012 08:34 AM

Before my weight loss journey I was drinking several cokes a day. Now it is more like 1 a week. One of my things was that I HAD to have a coke if I ate pizza. Last week I was packing my lunch (Lean Cuisine pizza) and I was putting the Coke in my bag and thought "I dont even want this" and put it away!
Its funny how eating better creeps up on you...

CindylouWho 07-13-2012 09:11 AM

I love NSV's!

I have been amazed at how the small things keep me motivated!

I am newly able to fit comfortably into a size 10 (woo hoo!), and decided to treat myself to a new dress. I have always stayed away from dresses with belts, but I thought "What the heck!". So it is a knee length one piece, with a wide belt.

As I put it on yesterday, my son (he is 6 years old), came in to the room and just stood looking at me for the longest time. Out of the blue, he smiled the most precious smile and said, "Wow, Mom! Your waist is really getting tiny!"

Talk about an NSV! I think his compliment meant more to me than if a smokin hot guy had said it, because I know it comes truly from the heart!

scout83 07-13-2012 10:07 AM

Wow, CindylouWho, that is an awesome compliment.

My non NSV is just feeling better. I've been trying to eat clean for a few weeks now, relying heavily on food from the farmer's markets, and the effect has been incredible. And I'm hitting my groove with the food, figuring out what I like, what works best for me, loving trying out new recipes for fresh, simple food. I just...feel great. :)

twinieten 07-13-2012 11:31 AM

I had a cool little NSV at my exercise class today. Often our class is in a room that is without mirrors, but today it was in the room with mirrors. I had a chance to watch myself exercise in a full length mirror for the first time in a few months. I could see a difference! My stomach didn't stick out as much, catching my shirt for that ever so lovely 6-months-pregnant-but-not-pregnant look. I could also see some muscle definition where none existed before! Wow! Still a ways to go, but these are the small things that just launch me forward another day!

Burg 07-13-2012 12:01 PM

Loving all your NSVs! Congrats to all!

I had my first the other day...I realized that my belly was going back into smaller rolls rather than one giant piece of flab! Hahaha I will take it!

shoeluver67 07-13-2012 12:36 PM

i feel stupid...what does NSV stand for?

ApeyGirl 07-13-2012 12:40 PM

My NSV is that I have a pair of pajama pants that were skin tight on me just two months ago and now they fit loosely again.. yay :)

Also.. I took a progression pic a couple of days ago and compared it to a month ago.. and I can tell that my back fat is slowly disappearing.. I still have it but it's less now.

Non-scale victory. Don't feel stupid!!!

judipurple 07-13-2012 01:55 PM

To all these great NSV's - :cheer3::woohoo::cheer2:

Lost an inch and a half off my waist! And in spite of a lousy day (emotionally) yesterday, I did NOT use food to comfort and numb me...for me, that is a HUGE NSV!!!

Lunula 07-13-2012 03:37 PM

I love reading all of these!!

I've been at this for about a year and a half now and I've tons of NSVs - but most recently, DH and I went on a amazing vacation overseas and halfway through he commented, "I can't believe that you want to be in all the photos, you always used to run and hide at the first sight of a camera!" - he was right! We made about a dozen new friends on this trip and I can safely say it never would've happened without all the confidence I've gained as I have dropped the weight.

And I have some fabulous photos of myself for the first time in YEARS! :carrot:

Astrild 07-13-2012 03:42 PM

I've been buying new shorts this past week, and have pretty consistently been fitting into a size 4... It's a little tight, but I'm happy. That's the size I've been aiming for all along. I still want to fit more comfortably though...I feel kind of on the edge.

CanadianMomma 07-13-2012 07:06 PM

shoeluver67 I was just about the post the same thing when I saw your comment.

My NSV: I can feel my hipbones lol.

Hotaruchan 07-15-2012 07:31 AM

Out of morbid curiosity, I wandered into a clothing store today. The heat has been absolutely unbearable of late, and it's only going to get worse next month...so I figured that looking into shorts wouldn't be a bad idea. I made a beeline for the plus section, as that was the only place I found pants that fit last time I was looking, but they had no shorts. Without much hope, I picked up a pair of the largest size I could find in the normal section (a 70 cm waist...which translates to about 27.6'') and wandered into the dressing room. To my great surprise, they fit! They had almost no give to them either...I'm not saying that they fit WELL (no muffin top, but the thighs were squishily tight), but considering that my last pair was a 76 cm waist, I did a little happy dance. Had they not made an announcement that it was closing time while I was still in the fitting room, I would have bought them just because I could squeeze into them :D

CanadianMomma: Hurray for hipbones! You can hardly see mine if I'm standing, but now they pop out when I'm lying in bed at night. I'd actually be really happy with my hip and butt area right now if not for the belly pooch in the middle getting in the way >.<

Astrild: Congrats! At this point I think that my dream size is a 6, but as I really don't have access to American clothes atm in anything smaller than the 12s I brought with me, I have no idea how much farther off that is...

Lunula: I informed my boyfriend over Skype today that when he comes and visits, we're taking a billion pictures together. He kinda stared at me a minute before asking "YOU want pictures?" I generally used to dive under tables if I saw a camera pointed in my direction, and as a result I only have one crappy webcam picture of us together...not fun when we live 10,000 miles apart.

Judipurple: Huzzah for loss AND self-control!

Apeygirl: Backfat is the worst! KICK ITS BUTT!

Everyone is doing AWESOME! Keep it up :D

Brid 07-15-2012 07:50 AM

I got back on the exercise bike after a fortnight's hiatus yesterday. Had to hold my sweating trousers up with my hands until I was sitting on the bike. My belly roll's shrunk too much to hold them up! (No net weight loss or gain in that two weeks, so things must just be rearranging in there.)

Precious Little 07-16-2012 12:56 AM

Hey y'all! It's so exciting to hear about all your NSVs!

Not sure if I told anyone about this yet, but I was so thrilled to look in the mirror a few days ago and saw (I"m sure I wasn't imagining it), the beginnings of a four pack!!

Yaaaaay!! :woohoo:

The most I could ever get for a long time was just a couple little lines down the sides. May seem trivial to some, but this just made me soooo happy, some folks (DH included) just... don't... get... it... !! So it's good that I can share with you good people.

Keep up the good work everyone!

lm3898 07-16-2012 01:09 PM

Hi all - congrats to everyone for your amazing NSV's - these are my favorite - I don't weigh myself so I LOVE the NSV's!

I have a few - this is the first vacation where I worked out 6 out of 7 days and was active every day.

This is also the first vacation where I posted a BIKINI pic on facebook - woohoo

AAAND I am officially 3.5 months smoke-free!
BOOM!

Have a great day everyone!

Dottington 07-16-2012 03:05 PM

Great NSVs everyone!!!!

This weekend for the first time ever I was able to do an intense day of hiking and the very next day went out hiking and rock climbing. Never before have I been able to do consecutive days of intense exercise :)

LeilaJey 07-16-2012 03:19 PM

Bought a pair of trousers size UK8 in a second hand shop today and they fit! They're a little tight but they still fit. I had bought them to use as encouragement as I like to try things on every week to see how I'm doing.. I was pretty confused but happy too :) I know it's vanity sizing but hey, it was still a surprise.

luckystreak 07-16-2012 03:40 PM

5 minutes ago I bought myself some onion rings cos I missed them so much. Ate 3 and threw everything else out cos I just couldn't do that to myself. That was INSANE to me lol

ELBS717 07-16-2012 06:56 PM

I found out yesterday that I've gained back two pairs of jeans from my closet. :-D

This happened to me the other day. It's like free shopping!

guacamole 07-16-2012 07:27 PM

Great NSV's! Mine is that I biked 7.5 miles today! Woo hoo! Also, I went to the dentist, and the receptionist hadn't seen me in 6 months. She didn't recognize me, and came over to tell me how great I looked and that I was 1/3 of my former self. She asked me how I did it, etc, etc. She is someone who has always been complimentary toward me, even at my highest weight, so I appreciated her compliments because I know they come from the heart.

Steph7409 07-16-2012 07:58 PM

I love reading these.

I had an NSV yesterday: I went hiking on the hottest, most humid day we've had all summer and made it to the top of the waterfall ahead of my canine companions. I felt really fit.

Also, I finally mastered odd count peyote stitch, but that has nothing to do with weight loss.

LockItUp 07-16-2012 08:12 PM

I fit into my mystery pants today! There is no size tag in them, but I think they are 14s. Came at just the right time too because all my dress pants are huge.

IsobelRose22 07-17-2012 04:17 AM

My favourite NSV is this:

Start: Waist-38inches
Thigh-29inches

Now: Waist-28.5inches
Thigh-22inches

My Waist is now smaller than my thigh was at the start!!!

LaurieDawn 07-17-2012 12:17 PM

These are AWESOME. Mine is silly, but feels awesome to me nonetheless. I was on the treadmill and noticed my shoe was untied. I paused the treadmill and bent down and tied it. No struggling. No needing to find a bench. Just tied it.

Elladorine 07-17-2012 02:09 PM

Pulled out a pair of jeans I bought years ago that I've never been able to wear. I've got a bit of a muffin top, but probably won't have it much longer. :) And my newest "skinny" jeans get loose around the waist after I wear them a few hours.

My bridal set is getting loose, as well as the ring I got for Christmas last year.

Feeling more agile in general. We've got a new puppy so we've blocked off the kitchen area by setting the pet carrier up against the couch. I step over the corner of the couch easily (it has no back on the one side) but it was a struggle when we did the same thing for our other puppy last year.

I'm handling the Vegas heat so well! It used to about kill me when it rose above 100° but I've been dealing with 110°+ just fine this summer!

I put my contacts in every day! Which doesn't seem to be an NSV but it's a sign that I'm feeling good and want to take better care of myself. :)

sept2012 07-17-2012 02:31 PM

Now that I know what NSV stands for I love this post. I hate thinking in terms of numbers on the scale although to get through the weight loss I understand the number is important and it does keep you accountable.

My NSV for this week is I went from a 2X (18-20) dress to a 1X(16-18) dress size.

gailr42 07-17-2012 04:52 PM

This is such a fun thread! I love the idea of "free shopping" in your own closet. Last time I cleaned out my closet, I only kept the things I really liked, in several different sizes, so after a while I will get to "shop" too.

Anyway, my NSV is that after almost a full month of eating better quality food, I feel much better! I have only lost 16 lbs, but I can more easily bend over to cut my toenails and put my lace-up shoes on. The waistband of my pants is just a tad looser. Putting on the shoes is important because they are my walking shoes!

HungryHungryHippo 07-17-2012 10:40 PM

I'm going to see someone I haven't seen for years, and realized I'm around the same weight I was last time I saw her, when I was getting ready for my wedding.

I dropped some shorts off at the tailor today, and realized I'm about the same weight as I was last time I saw him--when I was getting ready for my sister's wedding!
