Default Scale Victory! and Accountability

So I weighed in today at 144 - which officially puts me at normal BMI!!!!!

Super happy!!!

But I'm also leaving for a 4-week crazy vacation tomorrow that I'm scared about in terms of weight. I hope this thread will keep me accountable about watching what I eat while I'm away.

I've worked super hard for 6 months to get here and I am not going to blow it in 4 weeks. I will be at 144 (or less ) when I'm back!

I have friends who lost weight on a European vacation FULL of food! But they walked EVERYWHERE! Lol

Just walk as much as you can!

Hi Sparklegirl,

I can completely feel your pain. I've worked really hard for 6 months, and I'm scared that during my two week vacation (including a cruise), I'm going to sabotage myself. I told my aunt that its easy to turn away temptation when you can control what foods you are exposed to, when you're turning down your own cooking or what you can buy in a store.

In the past, I've never done well with turning down my mother's food. (obviously)

I do not want to gain 20 lbs in 2 weeks. While I may not be able to control what food I'm exposed to, I can certainly control how much physical activity I get. I am determined that regardless of what I may slip up eating, I am going to put more emphasis on keeping as active as possible. Since I'm also worried about my insomnia, I made myself familiar with the hours of the gym on the cruise ship, and am planning to take advantage of it.

I may not continue to lose, and I may not be able to maintain, but I'll be da**ed if I'm going to accept it without a good, hard fight

I'm not sure where you're traveling, but I have found that travel overseas helped me. I spent 10 weeks in the Phillipines, and aside from the fact that I can be a slightly picky eater, it was tougher to find my traditional comfort/pig-out foods, I lost weight. We also walked *everywhere* like previously mentioned

Congratulations! Enjoy yourself - and remember that even if you gain a pound or two, we'll be here when you get back!

Wow, normal BMI... Hi five!! WTG!!

I saw this come up on facebook and think it's so helpful!

You may not be able to weigh or measure your portions, but if you keep this in mind, you ought to be able to keep from over eating too often. And then plan to maintain, if not lose.

I went on a trip once and wanted to keep myself in check. Since the daily weigh for me is an integral part in keeping myself accountable, I didn't want to be a week without a scale. My first stop was Walgreens to buy a cheap scale to keep in the hotel room. My next trip, I didn't go out and buy a scale, but when I found a scale in the house we rented, I used it!

What RandomPaige wrote about using the gym, if you have access to one, there's another way to off set vacation damage.

But remember how much relaxing can help a diet along too! Have fun!

BTW, my last trip, even though it included bad food, plenty of alcohol and not enough exercise, I still managed to lose a pound. It's possible!
