Default Skim Milk vs. Coconut Milk

Which do you all think would be better, diet wise, in your coffee? I was watching a video about the belly fat cure diet, and it talked about how almond milk or coconut milk is a better option than skim milk or soy milk because there are fewer sugars. Since I have an almond allergy, I though I might check into coconut milk.

I like almond milk AND coconut milk (usually have almond with cereal and cook with the coconut), but for some reason, I find they don't really whiten my coffee that much. They're both pretty good in taste, but not excellent in creaming coffee, in my opinion. Coconut cream is pretty good (yum!) but at that point, calorie-wise whole milk or half-and-half are better options.

I use 1/2 tablespoon of heavy cream in my coffee. 25 calories, 0 carbs. I'll have to try coconut milk, that sounds delicious!

I like both, but enjoy almond the most. In oatmeal, coffee and cereal

This is a great article on milk and milk substitutes:

http://www.realfooduniversity.com/nu...k-substitutes/

Coconut milk has fewer sugars than dairy milk.

Coconut milk in coffee sounds amazing! I must try it. I really love that almond flavour rice milk in my coffee too but I can't get it where I live now.. unfair!

Calories dictate fat loss or gain.

If you want to spend 3x the money to get some coconut milk than go for it. Probably tastes a lot better but basing your decision due to the sugars is pretty silly in the context of a mixed meal which probably does not contain a whole lot of sugar.

Also - the guy Jorge who wrote the Belly Fat Cure is a serious tool. He has like 20 books on Amazon one of which is how low carb diets are making you fat or something like that. Now he has jumped on the low carb diet bandwagon.

But, for a lot of us females with hormonal, and insulin problems, sugar is a big deal . I can use a lot less coconut milk than watered down skim pseudo milk and get more creaminess in my coffee, for less calories, too!

Whichever one has less sugar. I enjoy both of them.
