The Jillian Curse

  • Don't get me wrong I love her DVD (been at it 5-6 days a week since March 1st) but I have heard this time and time again that people lose major inches w/ her but the scale barely moves. Maybe just at first? Psychologically this drives me insane. I see/feel the difference but the scale has only moved a few pounds...however I feel as though I have lost significant weight. I log my food on Myfitnesspal and vary between 1,300 and 1,500 calories so I know I'm on track with food. I never really had an eating issue anyway.

I started at 153, scale shot up to 157 for a while and now I'm steady holding at 154...but I appear much thinner than when I started at 153.

I'm not giving up but can someone (long time exercise guru's) shed some light here? Will I ever see 149??

Maybe it will just take another month? Thanks.
  • I don't do her dvd anymore, but that's because of my migraine issues. I am pretty sure you're losing lots of fat, gaining muscle AND retaining water. If you're doing everything on track, why not just give yourself a break from the scale for a while? I did that and it helped me tremendously. Maybe you could take some photos and take photos again in the same clothes and in the same angles. You could also go based on how your clothes fit. Hang in there!
  • There was a great discussion herehttp://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...ight-loss.html

I'd try to paraphrase but I won't do a good enough job. Keep going, the scale will catch up!
  • Take measurements instead ! Don't look at the scale !
Or even better: take your body fat percentage. I'm sure it's dropping a lot.

    Great read, thank you!

I still have to get past the psychological part with the numbers and I think I will in time. Once I see 149 I will relax.
  • I have lost all my weight using Jillian videos as my workouts. Sometimes the scale doesn't move much for me, but I'll notice changes. Like my arms feel smaller for sure, pants are looser, or my legs look a little slimmer. Don't worry, if you're diet is on track you'll lose fat with her videos. They kick your booty!!
  • No doubt it is hard, it can mess with your head! I figure if body fat is going down that's the real goal.

I got down to 143 years ago, from 193, but my body fat was still high 20's%. It started at around 36%, so I lost tons of muscle. I'd rather lose fat than lbs any day but it's just harder to track. Take pics and measurements!!! That'll help!
