I can't wait to fit into small sizes
I remember in middle school being a size 12. That's the smallest I remember being where I cared about clothes. Ever since then, my size has been increasing. I just can't wait until I lose enough to fit into small sizes (my dream size is a 10, which is a good size for my height).
Anyone else not used to being in small sizes and can't wait to get there? |
I was in small sizes when I lost a lot of weight before, but it was near long enough!
The smallest I have been is a 10, and those were tight. Right now my goal is 170lb, which would comfortably put me in a 10 (I think) but I want to try to go smaller than that...but one step at a time! |
I personally can not wait! :) I feel like I'll feel so weird when I get there though, since I feel I've been this way since I can remember.
Should be exciting! |
I've never worn regular sizes, always plus.
|
I'm with the previous post on this one - I've never in my adult life worn a 'normal' size. Even when I did Atkins 10 years or so ago and before kids, I lost 25 pounds down to about 215 at my lightest, and that put me in a 16-18 pant.
I would DEARLY love to wear size 14 pants (my upper body is considerably smaller - probably a 14 or close to it now) and be able to buy pants anywhere! But it would also feel weird to me as I've never ever been able to shop at non-plus places. |
I haven't been in anything below a size 10 since college (so 7+ years ago) and even then I still wore a lot of 10's. My goal is to be in an 8 or below but it's been such a long time since I've worn an 8 that it's hard for me to imagine. :^:
|
I honestly don't ever remember wearing a smaller size. Even in high school I wore an 16/18 (Of course sizes have changed so much since then! and I'm STILL in an 18, and bigger than I was then!) So I can't WAIT to be able to wear a size 10....or maybe even an 8!!
|
I am 5'4" and weigh 162. Some size 12 pants fit me well and some are tight. But size 10 is long long way to go.
|
I use to wear a size double 0 when I was a freashman in high school then I was a 3/4 when I graduated high school. I'm not trying to get back to a double 0 (ugh). I looked sick.
|
I would love to be wearing a size 7 or 5! That is what I hope to get into when I reach my goal and tone up my tummy!
|
my goal is non-plus sizes. I am top heavy and thick through the middle so I'm hard to fit in general and wear much different sizes top and bottom. 1X on top and a 15/17 on the bottom as long as it's low rise - my hips are small enough to fit into that size but I'd never get it anywhere around my waist if it was high waisted. A misses 16 doesn't really fit my waist either but is too big everywhere else.
I'm not sure how it will play out in terms of fitting into a non-plus sized top - there is still a big difference between a 1X and a misses XL so I think I'm looking at another 25 lbs minimum for that move, and I'd prefer to be no bigger than a large if possible (as long as it's cut with enough room for the girls!). So I could end up with some pretty crazy small number on the bottom in order to be the size I want to be on top! Not necessarily as small as others might want but if I ever got into a say a 9, that would feel crazy small to me! |
I cannot wait to fit into smaller sizes! The smallest I've ever been in my adult life is a size 10, and that only lasted about a month before I gained like crazy. I would love to know what it feels like to have a size in the single digits!
|
Smallest I have been since Jr high was a comfy 18 tight 16. I'd be awe struck to get into a regular 16. Hoping to be in my 18s by thanksgiving!
|
GreatPerhaps, you'll get there. So will I. It will take awhile, so just keep plugging along and don't give up.
Maybe next year....maybe the following year....but it's doable.... Once all of us get to our goals, then we go into maintenance to stay skinny. :smug: Energy and persistence conquer all things. Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790) |
yes!! i will probably cry the day i'm a size 10.
|
I can't stand being in plus sizes! Regular clothes look much better, seem more well made, and there are endless choices. I honestly don't know how I'm going to act when I can fit into regular sizes. lol
|
Haha, Jolina, you're like my 3FC fairy godmother- every once in a while when I'm struggling you pop up with something kind and inspiring to say. Thank you!
I have faith that everyone in this thread will eventually get to experience wearing smaller sizes, by the way! One day at a time, right? |
I've always been a plus sized person. Even when I was a kid my mom had to buy me the girl version of "husky" sizes (gosh, what were those called?).
Anyway, I don't have a goal size in mind but I'd love to be able to wear regular misses sizes and not have to hunt for the big and wide section. LOL. |
I guess my "dream" size is a size 2 in jeans(keep in mind I'm a little midget) but I seriously doubt I'll ever see it. If I see a 6 I'll be happy.

My 23 y.o. daughter is 5' 6" and weighs 125. She is very encouraging to me with this diet. Jokingly, I said to her...how are you going to feel when we wear the same size? She answered....oh yes, mom, that'll be great--we can share clothes--cuz you're so, ummmmm, stylish. LOL I can't even imagine I will ever weigh 125 again in this lifetime. I'll be thrilled to reach 160, but I definitely am looking forward to dressing "smaller."
One of my goals is to make something for myself, knit or crochet, that I would not feel huge in. |
My goal size is a size 8 I think. However I am smaller now then I have been since 6th grade so I have no idea what that will look like. I am just guessing based on how many pounds I have to lose now to get into the next dress size.
I'm 202 now and in a really lose 14. |
I'd love to be an 8. The smallest I can ever remember was when I was 15. I got down to a 12 for a few months. By the time I graduated high school I was a 20. My graduation dress looked so matronly and blah compared to all of my friends. Now I'm an 18. Hoping to be a 16 by December/January.
|
I agree even though I have lost some weight I'm still having trouble finding clothes.. especially pants! I figured I'd be a size 14 by now but they're too tight. I still have to buy a size 16 ugh its so frustrating .. I want to be able to wear an 11/12 comfortably
|
My dream weight is a 10 too. Haven't been that since H.S when I weighed in the 140's and ran most nights. I was a 12 before having kids after dropping the freshman 40 I gained in college. I've been a large 14-20 every since. Worn mostly plus sizes the past 8 years.
The funny thing is that when I was that (10) size (which for tall girls like us...is pretty skinny) I beat myself up for not being an 8 or smaller because all my girlfriends were shorter and tinier. I thought I was so fat. REALLY. I look at those pictures of me and wonder how/why I was so hard on myself. I try to focus on being healthy rather than skinny but I know that when I get to a 14 I know I will cry right before I scream "I did it" and when and if I get to a 12 I will probably drop over, lol! We will get there! Just a lot of hard work to focus on! :D |
I've ALWAYS been plus-sized. I remember having to get Junior's Plus and Girl's Plus at the stores and not being able to shop at those cute stores for tweens that my friends shopped at.
Now I'm fitting into those smaller sizes (I average around a 6/8) and I still have a hard time wrapping my head around it. |
Fitting into smaller sizes is expensive :)! I bought 6 (six!) pants in size 42 (US size 12 equivalent) this week. Granted, they are from Primark and H&M, so not that expensive ;) Coming from size 48 (18 US) it is amazing to be able to walk into a highstreet store and grab a garment and it actually fits.

I went shopping yesterday for a outfit to wear to a wedding next weekend. To my amazement. I choose clothes that I thought would fit me (not taking my weightloss inconsideration) went to fit them and NONE of them fitted. Everything was lose and way to big. I know this is good but I was rather annoyed because I wanted that one dress! Hahaha..irony.

I was generally a UK 8, occasionally a 6, before I put on weight. (Slim teenager, put on about 5lb or so during my twenties, then suddenly put on about 35lb in my late twenties.) I'm 75% of the way to goal and getting back into size 8 trousers, and I'm now worried that I'm going to end up in a size 6. The reason this is a problem is that it took me forever to find trousers that came up to the waist and generally fitted me (too big on the waist, but belts fix that), which are M&S Per Una cords or jeans, and those don't go down to a 6. If I end up having to search every shop in town to find trousers that fit me I will not be impressed, especially since it's so rare to get trousers that come up to the waist. I think I'm a peculiar shape, anyway: I never really fit into any of the body shapes people talk about, unless we go with a very very liberal interpretation of the apple shape.
Grumbles aside, I am of course dead excited that my old clothes are starting to fit again. I think I've been losing weight from my bottom half first, as my bra size hasn't gone down much yet and size 8 sweaters etc. are still rather tight on me. It'll be so fun to try them again in another month! |
I can wear a size 8 now, and let me tell you, I did cry when I first put them on. I stood there bawling right in the dressing room. I haven't seen 8 since I was about 20 years old. Then I realized that 8 is the new 12, and that kind of took the wind out of my sails. I'm still happy for the weight loss, though.

They still make girls plus sizes, and also girls slim sizes. And some brands go up to size 18. |
Same here! Right now I'm generally a 12 in pants, which was what I was junior/senior year of high school. It was so amazing to fit into size 12 jeans after years of wearing 16-18's. My lowest size was between 8-10, usually wearing a 10. That was at 155-160 lbs freshman year of high school. I'm hoping that if I get down to my goal, which is 135-140, that I'll be in a solid size 8, maybe even a 6.
|
I found this adorable summer dress and they have it in my current size 16, but i think i want to buy it in a size 12 as a motivator? is this a good idea? i dont own any smaller clothing to use for this reason.
|
Personally, I would not buy it 2 sizes down. You may not get into it by the end of this summer but then it probably will be too big next summer! I might go for the 14 though, it's more realistic that you might get into that while you'd still have more of this summer to enjoy wearing it.
|
I recently got down to a 14 (from a 16/18 depending on the brand) and it feels GREAT. Fitting into a 12 is my next goal, but I want to fit into at least a 10, ultimately. It would be amazing if my GW put me into an 8, though!
|
OMG, fitwayoflife, I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm almost your same height - I'm 5'9 and 1/2, - and I have been in a 14/16 for about 8 years now. I don't think I've seen a size 12 since high school, and I'm dying to get into them. I hope to be an 8/10 by the time I maintain, and I really, really, REALLY look forward to it!

I've always been overweight, so I'm not really 100% sure what size I wanna be yet. Definitely something in the single digits, I've never been able to experience that and would love to be a size 9, or maybe a 7. I'll just have to figure it out when I get skinny, which I'm looking forward to more than anything else!
|
I am right there with you. I have never worn normal sizes, I was an 18 forever. I can only dream of being a 14 so I can shop without wanting to scream and cry.
|
I have no patience! I've been in a 12 for about 6 weeks now (I know I know patience I HAVE NONE!) The smallest I've been is a 4-6, but that didn't last too long. My size 10's fit me much better this week, still a bit tight in the crotch area but they are wearable now, if I want tight painted on jeans on my LEGS! LOL I really can't wait. I haven't been in a 12 in over 10 years, my comfy size was a 16-18, so I feel great but now that I'm losing and I'm down I see how much more I need to lose! I can't even believe I carried so much fat on me! It's crazy!
