Default Aggghh - got ahead of myself!

I have just hit a massive motivational challenge! I am heading on a beach holiday in a week and due to the season change I had to buy my holiday wardrobe a couple if months ago - I just tried it on and everything is at least one size too big!! It's too late to return it and there are no summer clothes now in the shops!

I had calculated I would be about 7lbs heavier at this stage so bought clothes a size smaller than I was - but the weight loss has really accelerated and in particular my hips and thights finally gave up a few inches!

I know that it is great news - I was stalled for a while before this recent loss - but I am finding it really hard to stay motivated before the holiday - the temptation is to pig out so all those lovely new clothes will fit!

Any words of wisdom to keep me on track??

Don't give in and gain. They will just be like new when you pass them to a friend.

Gaining for an outfit is NOT worth it! Try and wear a belt!

If you're sure there's no way to return, try shrinking them a bit in the dryer. Sometimes it will take them down a half size or so. Do you sew well enough to rip a small seam down each side to take it in?

Keep in mind-- you will look better at your size in clothes that are a bit big than you would if you were 10 lbs. heavier and the clothes fit. Be proud of yourself! Also, you really can probably find at least a few summer things on the clearance racks. Take a trip to the mall. Our stores still have some stuff, and although there's not a ton left, the prices are great.

Options:

Take in or shrink what you can and use belts.

Take a very small amount of clothing with you and buy some stuff when you get there, if you are going somewhere warm then their shops will have warm weather clothing even if yours don't.

Try to find a friend you can borrow some things from.

Go to some resale or charity shops to see what you can find there, they may still have more summer things than regular shops do. Some of them may have moved the stuff to a storage room but be able to get some out for you if you explain and ask very nicely.

If you do find other clothing to wear then hold onto these too big and unreturnable things and put them in a resale shop when they are in season again.

Try scouring clearance racks. I've seen some summer clothes still around in a lot of stores.

Go to the bigger department stores and see what you can find Smaller stores will likely not have the items around anymore.

With Old Navy in particular I've noticed some summer clothes still around.

I dont know how much is available in the UK, but online you can usually find summer clothes year round and much will be on clearance. To get them in a week might mean pricey shipping.

But otherwise just bring a little money and buy some overpriced holiday souvenir clothes!
