While this is a great problem to have, it is very expensive. I don't know if I should buy for now or later. Any suggestions from those much further in?

Did you buy an interim size? Should I buy a size down so that I don't have to do this all over again in the winter? Should I get everything tailored now to fit me (especially business suits). Again, I hate the expense but I truly have very little that fits well.

This is even more depressing to me because clean lines/fits look best on me at my size. The clown look is just not sexy!

Many people here hit up thrift stores/clearance racks for the in between sizes. I normally buy the bare necessities in each size and closet shop as much as possible. Belts are also my best friend. ;)

I probably wouldn't bother tailoring the suits because you'll have to do it many times again. However, why not try to sell your old ones and use that money to buy new stuff? ;)

I buy as little as possible. I buy clothes at thrift stores, goodwill, and clearance sales. I also buy ahead for some things if I find a really good deal. I already have tons of size 8 jeans that I have gathered up, so now that I am finally getting into size 8 I don't really have much shopping to do. Some things the buying ahead doesn't work because you have no idea what sizes you will actually need (like bras) and you don't want to buy anything too trendy, but with things like jeans and t-shirts it can save you a lot of money. I am currently gathering size 6 shorts and capris for next summer at clearance sales.

Those of you who are donating your too big clothing to places like goodwill and salvation army, don't forget to get a tax receipt. I got an extra $300 back on my taxes just from clothing donations last year.

CherryPie, where in NY are you? Got cold quick, didn't it! We have a freeze warning tonight.

I went through this a few weeks ago. I hit up the Salvation Army and the Good Will, and had surprisingly good luck. I still had a few pairs of jeans from the last time I was this size, but only one pair of work-y pants that fit. It takes time and effort, and you need to be picky, but I found 3 pairs of pants and 3 skirts. I also bought one new pair of pants on sale and feel like I'm pretty well set up to make it through a couple months, until I once again decide I have nothing to wear.

I am going through the same thing! Because I am so pear shaped, it's my pants size that are changing so quickly. I've been in a medium top for a while and that seems to be holding steady. Not so on the bottoms. I am in a 12 or 14 depending on the brand now. I still have a few pairs of 16s and even an 18 that I find myself wearing to work. Way too big!

I've been a bit vain about jeans, though. When I hang out with my new bf (YES I said that!! I am no longer Miss Whiny Pants!), I want that to look good! I only have 2 pairs that fit me, but I buy a new pair everytime I go down a size rather than waiting 2 sizes at a time for the work clothes.

I ran into a good sale at NY&Co about a month ago (buy one pair of pants, get another for $10) and bought a pair of jeans and 2 work pants in my current size and then in the size down with the $10 deal. The cool thing is that the smaller sized pants all fit now!

But, this is getting expensive. I've been going to some thrift stores as well to find things. Mostly, though, the hard part is that I can fit into all kinds of things now in so many stores and I have SUCH a renewed sense of fashion and shopping. I can't help myself! I went to a concert and needed something to wear that was "cool and hip" and not frumpy. I found a Roxy hoodie and beat up jeans at Marshalls - in the junior section!! Heck Yeah!

Yes, I could find things cheaper but I am just loving life in this smaller body and it's killing my budget because I want to wear all of those fashions I missed out on for so long!

I could have written this - as I sit here, right now in a Roxy hoodie sweater in a size medium Juniors I picked up at Marshall's yesterday.

I was always so heavy and designers have come a long way in fitting the fuller figure better than they did when I last weighed this much. So, there IS more fashion for me to enjoy!

I LOVE that I can find clothes in junior sizes that fit.

And that I can fit into the brand that bears my name, lol! I have several Roxy t-shirts, but not a hoodie yet, must get!

I love that they make more junior sizes now - even though I still have a long way to go, I am a junior shape in pants and it's nice to be able to buy a size 17 that actually fits and isn't too baggy through the hips, butt and legs.

this thread is motivating me to try to do some closet shopping/purging this weekend. I know I have a lot of stuff that should fit me now, but it's all a big scrambled mess, plus it's time to clear out the old stuff! When I lost over 40 lbs last year, I made the colossal mistake of keeping all my fat clothes right at the front of my closet and it was oh so easy to let all that weight come back on. NOT THIS TIME!
