If you need encouragement and support during your weight loss journey, you have come to the right place. We pray for each other in hard times and praise each other in good times. We have a GREAT bunch of folks here. So c'mon!!!

Mitchypoo 01-25-2003 10:23 AM

I'm looking forward to having a great day today! Have been a little down lately and so last night I read the Bible and it gave me all I needed. I have a different outlook. Amazing how the Lord speaks to you through his Word.

Going to work out this a.m. and i will stay OP today. Tomorrow is my day off (of being OP) so I have incentive.

Wanted to mention, I send out a daily devotion taken from a Joyce Meyer calendar and if anyone is interested in receiving this daily, email me and I'll add you.....

Have a great weekend! :)

Good Morning ALL!!!

How is everyone this morning? I am ok I guess. I went to the Dr yesterday and was NOT happy with the report. He told me that I have a peptic ulcer, possibly an inflammed liver, and having more problems with my heart. *sigh* The problem with my heart is that I have way too much pressure inside my heart which is causing blood to backflow and causing me to retain extra fluid. Like congestive heart failure. It's very serious!!! He even referred me to another cardiologist for a second opinion because he suggests that I quit work and try to get on disability. I have so many mixed emotions!!! I love my job and don't really want to quit but he told me it might mean the difference in life and death. My heart is so heavy right now with this decision. I have two DD 5 and 15 to think about. But I do love my job.

Please continue to pray for me. You all mean the world to me and I don't think I could get through all this without you and my friends here. He told me to face the situation and don't deny it anymore. But it's so hard, I'm ONLY 41!!!! But it's this STUPID WEIGHT!!!! It's always the weight!!! Some of you will understand that. I can go to the Dr with a hangnail and they say it's because of the weight. I know that's an stretching it but that's the way I feel.

Ok, NO more whining!!! I'm still up SIX lbs from this time last week but it's fluid. But it really is disheartening. I've tried so hard and I realize that this will come off but it really hurts to see those higher numbers again.

Thanks to ALL for ALL the PRAYERS!!!! You all are the BEST!!! I'm so blessed!! :lucky:

Sami~ Sorry for the weight gain! And believe me I totally understand the Dr saying LOSE WEIGHT!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} I have never tried Meridia. Does it help? My insurance won't pay for ANYTHING that has to do with weight loss. And I don't understand that since I would be SO MUCH healthier. YOU hang in there!!! I'm here for you always!!!!

Zoe~ Good luck with weigh in and your house.

Wilma~ -30 degrees!!! :yikes: I knew there was a reason I lived in the south!! Doesn't it feel great when someone says something nice like the uniform lady did? Good luck with losing more before March. I KNOW you can do it!!!

Sue~ It's too cold there!!! We used to have frozen water in our old house. It's no fun, but I learned to boil water on the stove. Hope Gary sends you some sunshine and maybe it will warm up everything. And you are right about insurance companies. It's really aggravates me. But what can I do? I'm still thinking about writing Oprah and Richard Simmons. LOL

Michele~ Yes I did feel better after the Lasix but it still didn't get all the extra fluid off but I'm still working on that. I was able to get some exercise in Running back and forth after taking the lasix. LOL So glad that your Mom did well through the surgery!!! She will be seeing everything new! Good luck with the bowling!! I have always enjoyed bowling but it's a little hard these days. As far as the drain thing, if you can take off the drain and check and see if there is hair or anything down in the trap, if not though you might have to call someone. Good for you reading that Bible. I plan to do a little more of that myself today. It sure makes me feel better!!!

Catherine~ Good luck with the TOPS. They can be a great bunch!!! If we face facts, "Without HIM we can do nothing" really applies to EVERYTHING!!! I am a home health nurse too!!! Wow! I love it!! Do you? To help get my water in I freeze one liter bottles of water and grab one as I'm going out the door in the mornings and get another at lunch, if I don't take unfrozen with me, since it's been so cold. My schedule is so that I am able to come back in at lunch nearly all the time. I only work one county now compared to FIVE like I used to work. That ended up being 12 hour days. NOT anymore! I never saw my family and was exhausted all the time. What kind of shakes are you drinking? Slim-fast? Good luck with the exercising!

Joanne~Windchill -27!!! Yikes!!! Glad to hear that Spunky and Bart are doing well. Won't Bart tell you when the blessed event is due? Shame on him? And you would think that Spunky could remember. Congratulations on the 4.4lbs!!!! Wow!! I think that makes you the Big Loser this week!!! So sorry about the church thing! That is truly a shame but you know God has something much better for you. Hang in there!!!

Gary~ Glad to know you checked out "normal". What originally messed up my liver was when I first started having problems with my back and it got inflammed they had me taking 3200 mg of Ibuprofen a day!!!! Then I was taking Avandia (diabetes) and Lipitor (high cholesterol) plus Sinus Tylenol (sinuses/allergies). All together did it in. I kept asking the Drs about it back then but they kept telling me it was ok. But I knew better, but needed pain relief. GRRRR! Ya know?

Teaki, Amy, Lori, Jennifer, Everyone else???? I hope EVERYONE has a GREAT weekend!!!!!

Zoe 01-25-2003 01:02 PM

Good Saturday morning everyone....(I think it's still morning, right?? )

I just got in from WW and going to the new house. My good friend Tracy (we go to WW together on Saturday mornings) wanted to see it. She just couldn't wait....so we rode over there. I wasn't really having second thoughts but now that the mortgage stuff is done and we're ready to do, I thought maybe I should look around some more.....but after going with Tracy today, I really love the house.....I'm sticking with it. :D

As for WI, it was GREAT!! Anyone remember my goal of being 158 by vacation?? Well, vacation is 2 weeks from today and today I lost 3.4 lbs for a total of 38.8. I am only 2.4 from my vacation goal and I really think I can do that in 2 weeks. Oh, and I'm only about 12 lbs from goal. Of course, vacation may throw me off somewhat but you know, I really think that I eat differently now so even if I gain 'some', it won't be as bad as if it were a year ago.

Hi to everyone. I have a MILLION things to do so I'll say adios and talk to y'all later.

Patti and Zoe  <><

SATURDAY

HAPPY SATURDAY :dizzy:

I see from the posts that some are doing fine and others are not. Isn't it nice that good or bad the Lord has placed people in our lives in various ways (the internet) to help us through this life.

I am great today!! My Raiders #1 team and my Tampa Bay #2 team are both in the SuperBowl tomorrow. That will probably never happen again. Although if the RAIDERS don't win I will be BUMMING big time. The weather here is in the 70's, I am only a 45 minute drive from the game-- alot of things happening around here with the pre-game festivities.

SHERRY -I think there is a big difference between denial and being lost on how to resolve the problem, or finding it too difficult on our own. I always knew I should stop smoking-- I tried but found it too difficult. I wasn't in denial-- I just didn't have the strength to quit. When I did finally quit I realized that I had the strength all along--I just didn't want to sacrifice the pleasure I was getting out of it. I am not sure of your reason for the weight -- if it is a medical problem or an addiction-- it really doesn't matter how you got in this situation. What matters is if their is something YOU can do about it. If the doctor says quit your job and lose weight-- do it!!-- if you can. The Lord always gives us ways. You say you have to do what is best for your daughters-- WELL LADY-- the best thing for them is to have their mom HEALTHY--- Whatever it takes the good Lord will give you strength to accomplish the goal. It may take alot more effort than you ever knew you had. If it is a medical problem that you could not possibly fix on your own-- Keep trusting as you have in HIM-- MY prayers are with you and your family.

Saturday #2

Hello again!!!

I am having a lazy with the family which is exactly what the Dr ordered me to do this weekend. I haven't done much but watch a few cartoons with the little DD and a western with the hubby and play a little on the muter. I have missed this laziness that is good quality time with the family.

Gary~ Thanks for your concern and prayers. Yes, I realize the decision isn't all THAT hard but it is still a hard move to make. I do need the money so I will wait until I am able to get the second opinion on the quitting work and getting disability from the other cardiologist before I quit. I work for a pretty good company and I would hate to lose my senority and time and tif the other DR say something different. Good jobs for people with health problems and overweight are hard to come by. But thanks for caring. :smug: I bet you are hyper :hyper: about the game tomorrow!! Good luck, may YOUR best team win!!!!

Zoe~ Caongratulations on the 3.4lbs!!!! That's so good!!! You will definitely make your goals! You go girl!!

Well, will go for now and maybe take a nap. MAYBE I could get used to this life.

EZMONEY 01-25-2003 02:43 PM

I'M BACK

I had to take a shower and dress in good clothes before the wife came home. We are going to her family's for her brother's 40 birthday.

SHERRY I didn't mean it wasn't a hard decision-- I just meant that we have the strength in us-- it's just finding it--Of course it's hard-- if it wasn't we sure wouldn't be in the messes we get ourselves into:) Enjoy the easy week-end.

ZOE That's the way!! Keep on keepin' on with the weight girl-- OUR HERO!!! You will have a great life in your new house-- I can sense it already-- just like Wilma is having in hers.

MITCHYPOO Did you get that drain fixed? My plumber just called to tell me he will try and get by next week to replace the copper under my house. Thank goodness I fixed the leak already!! There is no book better than the Bible for comfort is there. Reading sure helps us through life-- also the fellowship with other christians.

JOANNE How in the world do you live in that cold? I just looked at the the weather here and it has creeped up to 80!! I am sending you some sunshine too-- all you that need it. What a great story for your neice and daughter-- you will catch up soon-- I just know it.
We are ALL sinners. God says sin is sin and that is it-- we put different degrees on it based on what we feel. We all make mistakes-- we are all forgiven through belief in Christ-- I wouldn't want to stay in a church that felt the way yours does. I agree with the others that you will find a great blessing in the long run ! If you divorced against the wishes of God-- have repented and wish that you would not have done it-- IT IS OVER-- He lets us go forward in Christ. If you had biblical grounds then you have nothing to be sorry for anyway-- either way God does not see the sin anymore.

SUE I hope this finds you WARM:flame:

WILMA--SAMI-- and all the others have a great day--

GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love-Gary

Sunday morning

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

Well, I am gradually getting back to my old self. I have lost 6lbs of fluid in two days from just resting, no lasix. I guess the Dr was right. Anyway, all I'm have been doing is resting but I have to go get a few groceries today, we are out of everything. I have to get this weight off and there's no time like the present. LOL

Joanne~ It's good to see you checking in too. Hope the farm is doing well today. ;)

Sue~Thanks for your kind words. I am not jumping into anything quickly. And I should know tomorrow when I can see the other cardiologist.

Gary~ Thanks for your support always. You're a good friend.

Hope EVERYONE has a GOOD day! Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement. Those of you MIA post when you can.

Take care of yourselves--Love Gary

Zoe 01-27-2003 07:06 AM

sorry anyway.......

Monday morning

Good Morning EVERYONE!!!

Well, I'm up and trying to get ready for the day. I am going to try to go back to work today but with a light schedule. I'm only scheduled to see 5 patients or less if I start having problems. My boss has been really understanding about it all and told me to just call her if I have problems. I'm just going to take one day at a time and see what each day brings. I am pretty weak. But God is good and He will get me through all this.

Gary~ Hey both your teams won actually. Just your very favorite came in second, ya know? My DD (15) was glued to the tv. My Dh and I and DD (5) went and got groceries. We're really not true football fans. Sorry Gary.

Zoe~ Glad to see you checking in. Have a good day!

Hope everyone has a good day!!! OP!!! Drink all your water!!! Take a walk! Just get up and move. You can do it!!! :drill:

doitforme 01-27-2003 05:09 PM

Hi ya!

Sorry E.Z. but Iwas happy to see the bucs win, the raiders have been there before, and I had to root for the underdog. Sherry take it easy on going back to work, did you get an apt. with the cardiologist for the second opinion, still in my prayers Hi to everyone else, hope your doing good. Blessings Sue

wilma12 01-27-2003 09:13 PM

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend and start to this week. I maintained my weight again. I would probably lose if I'd stay away from the ice cream. for some reason it keeps calling my name.

Gary: I hope you enjoyed watching the game. How many times will you be able to watch 2 of your favorite teams play against each other.

Mrshummer: Please take it easy. We want to see you healthy.

Gutchie: I'm so sorry to hear about your church situation. I believe in forgiveness and it should first come from your church family. Sometimes church's get so stuck in their traditions that they don't see the people. I hope you find a church that will feed you spiritually.

doitforme: I remember the days of the sleepover. I'm getting too old for that and need my sleep. Hope you've had a chance to recover!

mitchypoo: Isn't it neat when we see the answer to what we're seeking in God's word. It's a reminder to me to go there first!

Hello to everyone else!

EZMONEY 01-27-2003 10:28 PM

Monday Night

HI LADIES :)

Well, I am over my football loss-- thanks to the support of you guys. It was a long time coming (27 yrs for my #2 team-- and 19 yrs for my #1 team) I just wish they didn't have to play each other. Oh my-- can I complain or what?

It has really been hot here (sorry for those still freezing:( ) in the 80's the last few days-- kinda like it and kinda don't--- HA! see-- still complaining!!

I lost a couple of pounds last week-- tried to eat salads and fruit during the day and no junk. We had a party for my bil so I blew it Sat. then Sun. with the game -- well, lets just say there were alot of these little sausages to start with and none were leftover.

The wife started training today to run a couple of 5k's we entered , if her knees hold up. I will just walk them no matter what, however one of the races we do is really flat (the only race I have done that I didn't stop and walk in) I may run that one-- we shall see-- they aren't until the end of Feb. and April.

Well college son informed me he needs this computer real bad to do homework-----

IN CHRIST-- GOD BLESS ALL MY FRIENDS, Gary

Zoe 01-28-2003 08:09 AM

Hello my friends ~

I'm here to say something to you all, my wonderful Christian friends who have been there for me as I attempted to eat better and lose weight. I've been in the CHRISTIAN ENCOURAGERS from the day I logged on to 3FC, 3 yrs ago and I've struggled, going up and down, all that time......until recently. This past September, I finally asked the Lord to help me in this. All these years of praying and asking God for 'stuff', I never really thought of turning my weight loss over to Him. I finally did just the last September and with the support of all of you, I am almost at my goal.

I've learned one thing.....numbers mean nothing. I mean, I had/have this goal of being 148 lbs ~ at 5'7", that's THIN on me. I am around 160 now and with only 12 lbs to that goal, I'm realizing that 155 may be the target weight. I say this because in wanting to be 148 lbs (just because that sounds better than 150 somthing.......), I have also just wanted to be a size 12. Again, for my height, that's a good weight...(oh and for my 40-something age too....) So today, I pulled out my old size 12 dockers and oh my goodness.....that are none too tight!! I am on my knee in thanks.

And although I know that God is the one, He has given me all of you to help me through......thank you all for the love, friendship and support you've given to me. I really, really appreciate all of you.

In Christ's Love,
Patti <><

wilma12 01-28-2003 08:47 AM

Zoe: You are so right in what you're saying. I know I tend to try things on my own when I should be going to God first. It would save a lot of frustration. Thanks for the reminder. I haven't gained any weight but I know I will if I keep on the path I'm on. Thanks for the reminder! I wish I could say I'm near my goal but I do have a good 20 lbs. to go. I'm so proud of you for sticking to it and getting to your goal. You must look great! It must be time to go shopping!!!

Gary: PLEASE send your warm weather to Canada. It's still cold here although it has warmed up a bit. I am so ready for spring. I'm looking forward to getting outside and going for walks in the neighbourhood and getting to know my new neighbours. I also think that underneath all the snow is quite a lovely little yard and I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to come up.

Have a wonderful day! Today I will stay away from snack foods.

mrshummer 01-28-2003 09:16 AM

Tuesday

Good Morning EVERYONE!!!!

It's a good morning to be alive! I am feeling a little better this morning. Yesterday was long and I had some difficulty getting all my patients seen and was exhausted last night. But rest helps so much!!! I have a light day today and am looking forward to it.

Gary~ Congratulations on the loss!!! We knew you could do. Most men can lose a little easier than women. But not all. But you are doing good!! Good thing for your eating that the Super Bowl only comes once a year. Just kidding!! I hope you really enjoyed Sunday's game. And BTW, we all can complain. LOL

Wilma~ At least you maintained. If you have to have the ice cream just get a very small amount and eat it really slowly. ;)

Sue~ I'm still waiting to hear when my appt will be. They didn't call me back yesterday and when I called I got the voice mail and left a message but still haven't heard. I will call again this morning.

Hope EVERYONE has a GOOD OP day! Don't forget the water! Let's get moving! :dancer:

Thank you all for all your prayers, encouragement and support. You are the best!!! :D

mrshummer 01-28-2003 09:25 AM

Part 2

Zoe~ I guess you posted while I was typing. Anyway, we are so proud of you and I know God is also smiling as He looks down on you and says, Well done, my good and faithful servant, well done. I bet HE also is saying something about, all you had to do is trust and believe in me. Wow!! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!
WTG Zoe!!! Give yourself a pat on the back!!!!

Wilma~ It's warmed up here the last few days. And boy am I glad. Don't ya think Gary needs to try harder to send that WARM weather!!! I'll try to send you a little of mine. ;)

doitforme 01-28-2003 04:26 PM

Hi Guys

Hi there! Mrs. Hummer please send me some warm weather, we haven't been above freezing at any point of the day for better than 2 weeks. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED WHEN YOU FIND OUT, O.K.
E.Z. congrats on your loss and recovering from the superbowl. But I gotta say it I WON I WON I WON, HA HA HA. I couldn't resist.
Wilma, I am right there with ya and ice cream, Zoe way to go, hi to everyone else.

Cardiologist appt

Hello Everyone!!!

Just wanted to drop in for a minute and tell you that I now have an appointment with another cardiologist on Monday Feb3rd. :cp: The only draw back that I know of is that he is FOUR hours away!! :spin:BUT, I think this is necessary and I feel good about it all. Please continue to pray about all this and the traveling, taking care of kids, etc.... We have no family around to help out with the kiddos. And I hate to ask friends to help out, but I just must.

Have a good afternoon!!

BTW, Sue I'm sending warmer weather your way. :goodvibes: :flame:

Claudette 01-28-2003 07:05 PM

Sherry,
I'm so glad you have a second opinion for your condition. Several years ago, I worked for a cardiologist in his office and cath lab. Sometimes, docs do have very different opinions. Hope this 2nd opinion is a better option for you. I know that God never closes a door without opening another one, so he will provide for you no matter what. I will pray for the logistics of child care, etc, while you go see the doctor.

Patti- I agree with your input about trusting God, and turning it over to Him. It so easy to get caught up with numbers.
I have just completed my first week on a diet, and am soon leaving for a TOPS meeting. I will keep you all posted.

Sherry, I forgot to tell you what kind of shakes I've been having.
They are Revival Soy shakes, available through the mail. They were developed by a physician, and each shake has the equilevant of 6 glasses of soy. I like the different flavors, as they mask the soy taste. The web site is www.revivalsoy.com.
I also, have Atkins shakes sometimes, as I love some of their flavors/conveinence that they have.
I really love this web site, as I feel so supported by fellow believers. Believe me, it is wonderful to know I have support, and I can give support, also.

In His Love, Catherine

TGIT

. THANK GOD IT'S TUESDAY

Or any day for that matter! Thank God for all things!!

ZOE You are the CHAMPION !! As far as I figure girl-- have 2 goals 155 'cause that might be your max-- HOWEVER-- if you are always shooting for 148 you should be able to walk around with a :) knowing that you reached your BODY goal.

WILMA O.K. dear I am sending you some warm weather-- not too much though because it has dropped to 71 here (SORRY) at least you have some snow-- if I want to see it I have to drive for 2 hours.

SUE You are right you WON big time-- next year we will bet on it -- here is hoping both teams make it again-- but I bet you really wanted the Jets or the Giants.

SHERRY I hope the new cardiologist has better news for you-- but 4 hours for drive for your lifetime of health is nothing girl!! I hope your DH is driving you and you get a chance to spend some time together W/O the kiddos.[B]

CATHERINE Have fun at your TOPS mtg. I hope those soy shakes do the trick for you.

HI to everyone else-- gotta finish dinner-- it is only canned beef stew tonight with salad and bread.

IN HIS ARMS-- Gary

Mitchypoo 01-28-2003 10:07 PM

I've had a bad day food wise.......can't leave those carbs alone after my day off on the weekend. I'm going to have to really think about not having a day off, it just puts me back so far. :(

The drain has cleared but then it clogs again and it seems that the part of the septic system is froze. As long as it'll clear i'm ok. May have to wait awhile to have it permanently fixed.

Patti, what an inspiration you are! Congrats on your weight loss!:D Woo hoo for you! :bravo:

I'm sorry i didn't individually post, i'm still getting to know who's who.....but you are all very encouraging.

Seems I need to go read my bible again and get some control on my eating:angel:

mrshummer 01-28-2003 10:13 PM

Tuesday night

Hello Again Everyone!!!

I know everything about my Dr's appt will work out well. I feel better about everything already. :goodvibes:

Catherine~ Good luck with your weigh in tonight!!! I have tried some different types of shakes but don't really think I could do that regularly. What seems to work better for me is trying to learn to eat healthy and going back to basics, or God's food. By that I mean meat, fruits, veggies, breads, no packaged foods, etc... As long as I eat lots of fruits and veggies I was losing regularly till all this fluid invaded my body. I'm still not back down to my non edematous state.

Gary~ Glad to see you checking in. Yes, I admit it, I am looking forward to spending time with my DH. I almost wish my appt was really earlier so we had to go Sunday. But under the circumstances we probably don't need to spend the extra. But you can bet I will enjoy the quality time together! :smug:

Well, better hit the hay. Have a good night.

sami 01-29-2003 05:26 AM

Sherry-I am praying for you! Please keep us posted.
Gary-I want that warm air! It has been 6 here!

doitforme 01-29-2003 05:30 AM

Hi guys

Real quick early morning gotta be to work at 6am and I gotta leave in 5 mins. just waiting for COFF-E-E. I can't function without it. Mrs. Hummer thanks for the sunshine, and glad to hear that you got an apt. Second opinions are always a good thing. Keep us posted and we will keep praying. The Lord will provide!
E.Z. Thanks how did ya guess, I have loved the jets for years, I kind of fell away when the scabs played years ago, but when I know they are doing good, I get hooked again. I have always enjoyed football, never cared for baseball, or basketball. Hi to

Not a Football Fan

I'm Canadian, "HOCKEY", the only game in town :)
Glad you all enjoyed the Super Bowl.

Where is that warm weather?
Wilma, you've not got it out West have you?
We've more snow again this morning, a picture post card.

Weigh in saw me gain 1.2 but then, I'd just weighed in on Thursday and it was only Monday so I'm not terribly worried at this point. When forced to miss a Monday we've the opportunity to do another meeting in a nearby town, on the Thursday.
I hope your all having a good OP week.

Thanks for your encouraging words as we search a place of Worship.
God is indeed GREAT and Forgiving.
Enough tears have been shed, I need the above statement repeated to me daily. God Bless each of you.

I'm off to visit a dear friend who's father is facing surgery.
I say prayers for each of you entering into the same, and dealing with health issues.
Take care, Fear Not because God is with us Always!

Love Fellow Christian Joanne

Good Morning!

It's still -29C here this morning. But, it's supposed to get to -5C by Friday so I have something to look forward to.

I had a better evening last night. I ate only a bit of ice cream and had an orange instead of snacking all evening. I need to find some motivation to get things done in the evening. I don't feel like doing anything and when I don't I feel really lethargic. Guess there's my answer, right?

Joanne: I wouldn't worry about the gain. Just get back on track and you'll do fine!

doitforme: Have a great day! I love your positive attitude!

Sami: It's so good to have you back. I miss you when you're gone. I'll keep both your daughter and you in my prayers this week. Hope her surgery goes well!

mrshummer: No, 4 hours isn't a long drive for your health. Where we lived before this we had to drive 2 hours to get anywhere. I hope all goes well and this specialist has good news for you.

mitchypoo: I know what you're talking about - those nasty carbs. I'm having the same problem. I do make sure I take a salad to work each day. At least I get my veggies in and I don't have any options because I don't go out for lunch.

Gary: Thanks for the warm weather. It'll be here in a couple of days. How are you doing with your WOE? How much did you want to lose?

Catherine: The shakes sound good. I'll have to try them. I agree with you about this board. We have a bunch of awesome people around here.

Well, I better get going. My van needs to run for a few minutes before I leave for work and I still haven't had my toast. Have a super day! God bless each one of you!

Mitchypoo 01-29-2003 05:25 PM

Wilma, thanks for the idea to take a salad with me, i'm going to try that tomorrow so I don't have to wait until 3 pm to have lunch.

Thursday morning

How is EVERYONE this morning?

I am feeling fair this morning, a little tired. I have my babysitting problem worked out for Monday, etc... I have arranged it so that if for some reason I have to stay over that the person keeping them can keep them for a day or two. That is a relief off me. I'm taking a bag "just in case" since I have no idea what the Dr might say.

Michele~Salads are a great meal anytime. Hope your carb eating improves today. After all it's a new day! A new beginning.

Wilma~ Sorry it's so cold there. I think you need to consider moving. Good for you reducing your portion of ice cream and eating an orange instead. Good step forward. I'm told if we were getting enough exercise we wouldn't be so lethargic. So, with that in mind, maybe take a walk. Definitely in a mall or something NOT skating or skiing outside.

Joanne~ Snow, huh? Well, I love snow if I could have it without the cold temps. Can you imagine how it would be with shorts and sandals playing in the snow. LOL Maybe not. Thanks for your wonderful emails.

Sue~ Hope that sunshine gets there soon! Maybe by the weekend. That would be a welcome change.

Sami~ So good to hear from you!!! We have missed you!! Our prayers are with you and your sweet daughter today. God is in control. God is the great physician. Think and remember good thoughts. Hopefully you can check in regularly next week while you are helping your dd recover. Let us know how things go my friend.

Gary~ Hope everything is going well for you. Oh, BTW, can you come here and do some carpentry work for me? I have several projects I would love to have done.

Catherine~ Thanks for the reminder that different Drs think differently. It's a second opinion but also I am very unhappy with my present cardiologist. When I was in there in Nov I managed to get the last appt for the day and I went in with a 8# wt gain in 2 days, dizziness, palpitations, chest pain, etc... She had already done all my testing and knew my problems at that time. Then later while seeing my primary Dr he let me read her report and she put in there that I denied all those symptoms and that I needed a gastric bypass, etc...... follow up in 6 months. She did not listen to anything I said. She just concentrated on the weight issue plus she was trying to leave for the day. And I can't see any other cardiologist around here because they are all in the same practice and refuse for a person to change Drs within the practice. GRRR!
But my primary Dr when told all that Friday told me that he would not refer me back to her anymore that I needed someone that would be aggressive with my condition and help me instead of just making my weight the issue. Does that make sense? My primary told me my condition Friday was very serious because my body wasn't able to compensate now and I needed some type of help. Period.

Hope everyone has a good day!!! It's so very wonderful to see the thread as busy as it is!!! Keep up the good work!!! Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. God has surely blessed me.

Teaki 01-30-2003 04:51 PM

First time in a week that I get some computer time. It's been so busy and lots and lots of freeway miles, back and forth to hospital to see Chris. She was doing so well they sent her home on Sat only 4 days after hip replacement... WOW. So when ever I'm not working I'm trying to help her. Thanks for you prayers, I can't believe how strong and mobile she is... being only 28 yrs old has a lot to do with it!!!

Her husband ( my son) is trying to do his best in looking after her, thank God I taught him to cook and clean when he was young. he's still unemployed but looking for a job close to home, starting in a couple of weeks would be good.

Have to go as my lady is on the move again!!!

HUMPDAY

HI LADIES-- :dizzy:

How is everyone today? I got home from work a little early-- the nephew had a fever this a.m. of 102.4 , so I had his mom come and get him. She should be returning him soon as she works tonight. Poor little guy-- he has always missed alot of school because of his situation-- with me he didn't miss any this semester and he was looking forward to perfect attendance:( for the whole school year. He was even going to get to wrestle today against another school.

SHERRY I certainly hope that if you have to stay a day or two that you find a way to have some fun;) if you know what I mean-- away from the kiddos and all. I am so fortunate-- my doctor takes care of my entire family and many friends-- he is one of the few lately that really seems to care --AND EXPRESSES-- it. I know it must be difficult for many the way the system is structured--my BIL is a surgeon and MONEY is always the issue!! I hope the new dr. is just what the dr. ordered:lol:

TEAKI So glad to hear your DIL is doing well-- Oh, to be 28 again. I hope your son finds a great job close to home.

MITCHYPOO My wife takes alot of salads-- me too-- to work. Alot of times I throw canned salmon or tuna in it, or lean lunchmeat for protein-- and to just vary it a little. Also cottage cheese with fruit in it is good. We get the frozen fruit pieces at the store and just toss them in whenever we want. Good luck!

SUE Hey I am with you on the coffee-- my truck won't start without it in the morning, let alone my body. However I drink way too much of it. I am really trying hard to drink more water and Gatorade-- the Ice kind. I sure do hope you have a great week-end of weather.

EZMONEY 01-30-2003 06:29 PM

Back Again

Just got a call from my nephews mom and she said she just got home from dr.-- just what we thought-- the 'ol flu. She will bring him by here later on.

SAMI I hope all went well with your daughter today-- you have really had a tough few months. Hang in there I am sure it is all about to turn around for you:) Enjoy the week off with your daughter as much as you can.

WILMA-- Hey what about frozen yougurt-- as if you have never heard of it:lol: I rarely eat sweet things but to be honest about 6 years ago I got ADDICTED to Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia-- I started off at a pint a week and built up to a pint a night--OUCH!!-- after gaining weight-- which I had never done before-- my wife refused to get me ice cream and eased me off the JUNK  with frozen yougurt Ben and Jerry's-- it wasn't the same but I got used to it and it didn't hurt to have less calories-- haven't touched the stuff in over 5 years, I'm clean:lol:

JOANNE You gotta be kidding me:dizzy: HOCKEY? over football-- no way! Well at least for me anyway-- I try to follow it-- we even go to the local minor league teams games here once or twice a year-- I just don't get it. I am a little-- O.K. alot slow though. I hope you end up in a great church this week-end. I know you will find it soon. Enjoy the snow-- too much weather for this native Californian.

ZOE How is the new home plans coming along? I know you have lost more weight since you last posted-- don't blow away in those heavy winds:D

Well checkin out the fridge for dinner-- the wife is working late at the school tonight.
Have a great Friday-- IN HIS CARE, Gary

sami 01-30-2003 07:12 PM

I just have a minute to pop in and let you know My DD is doing great! They took her back to the OR room and they said she just talked and talked. She did have some extra bleeding afterward but I know all the prayers were working we sat her up and put ice packs on and I talked her into eating a popsickle and that helped. So we are home and she stayed up for a long time and ate more ice cream. Thank you for all your prayers!
EZ-we have the flu epidemic around here. I can't tell you how many people have called into work. And my DD basketball game was cancelled because half the school was out with the flu! (all 6 of my kids had it over Christmas)
Zoe-I will be off work for the next week and I am going to spend part of each day in prayer asking the Lord to make my spirit and heart work together on the weight loss thing. We think we turn it over to the Lord but after reading you post I relized I am still hanging on to it. So pray that in my quite time with the Lord I am able to let it go.
Wilma-It was a nice day here today but watch out! I hear we are in for another winter blast.
Teaki_Praise God that Chris is doing so well. I am lifting you and your family up in prayer for your sons Job and fast.......recovery for Chris. And of course for you that you don't wear yourself out.
Sherry-My prayers are with you. I am so happy you are getting a second opinion. I am really strong on taking control of your own health. I went through a lot a couple year ago and I even had a Dr tell me there was nothing wrong with me. I went to another Dr and they had hear about a condition that she though sounded like me and guess what she was right. After surgery I was 100% better and they did a biopsey and I did have what she thought. I am lifting you in prayer!((((hugs))))

To all others my prayer for an OP day are with you!
Sami

Friday morning

Good Morning EVERYONE!!!

Can't stay but just a moment but wanted to check in. I have a super busy day today and with God's strength I will make it through and be able to see all my patients. I'm off the weekend so I can rest then and I will probably need all of it.

Sami~ So glad to hear your DD is doing well!!! Sounds like she did fine. Our prayers continue to come for her healing and feeling better. Thanks for your encouragement. Keep in touch. \\

Gary~ Hope this finds your nephew feeling better. I have a primary Dr that cares too thank goodness or I wouldn't be making the trip to Lubbock. My primary I have known about 12-13 years and have even worked "with" him in ER so we know each other pretty well. I thank God totally for him and him wanted to see me get the help I need.

Teaki~ Glad to hear Chris made it through the surgery well and is improving. It's good for the hubby to have to take care of us every now and then. He will do fine. And so will she.

Hope EVERYONE has a GREAT Friday and weekend!!!!!! I'll probably won't see you again today but I'll check in tomorrow.

wilma12 01-31-2003 08:46 AM

Finally Friday!

Actually, the week has flown by but I'm looking forward to being able to sleep in tomorrow! I really enjoy my new job. The people are great but there are stresses there that really tire me out. Once I know what I'm doing the stress won't be that great. Sometimes I think it's those stresses that drive me to the dreaded ice cream. I know I should be going to the Lord instead.
I am going to start doing the exercises each morning and see if that gives me more energy. I'm sure it will!

Sami: I'm so glad your daughter is going to be okay and that she's in good spirits so soon after surgery. I am also praying for you in your weight loss struggles. Sometimes it's so hard isn't it? Please know that we are here for you.

Gary: Frozen yogurt! What a great idea! I think I just need to stay away from it totally but I like the idea of having options. (At first I thought you were making a comment about our weather. ) Glad your nephew is going to be okay. It hard to see the kids sick.

teaki: I'm glad your DIL is doing so well and that your son is being so caring. He must have a great mom!!

mrshummer: Hope all is going well with your day!

Hello to anyone I've missed. I have to go get ready for work.

Have a super day!

doitforme 01-31-2003 10:17 AM

Hi Guys

Hi there, I got the weekend off too, yippee, I can go to church on Sunday, missed it last week and missed prayer meeting. I hate that when it happens. Gutchie keep your chin up, might be the stress of finding a new church. I like hockey too, I use to date a guy who played for cote st. Luc, in Canada. I haven't been to many games lately, but they are fun.
Wilma- I am right there with e.z. frozen yogurt is awesome, it can take the place of the ice cream and have alot fewer cal. I am right there with ya and the cold but I think the sunshine that Mrs. Hummer and e.z. sent is finally arriving, it is up to freezing, which is nice compaired to what its been
Sami- and- Teaki I am so glad to hear that DD/Dil are both doing great, as to flu, I didn't have that but I had what they thought was the norwalk virus, Me and the toilet became good bubbies, nasty virus. Feel bad for your nephew E.Z. just when things were going better for him, where he actually wanted to go to school, he is blessed to have a caring family around him, that was willing to take him in, so He didn't end up in an alternate location.

doitforme 01-31-2003 10:22 AM

Continued-

I drink to much coffee, but try to limit it to morning time rarely in afternoon, or evening. unless out to dinner or something, then try to make it decafe.
Mrs. Hummer, you take it easy try to enjoy your weekend away, may you recieve a better second opinion. I hear ya about doctors. Actually nurse who does b.p. and stuff before Dr. comes in. They assume because of my weight I must have high blood pressure they pump the cuff up to 200 and my blood pressure has never been high. But anyway remember we are praying for you, and trust wou will recieve an answer. God Bless everyone have an awesome weekend.
