For me, i was a sugar addict until i became a type 2 diabetic, and then it made me have to change. I hated sticking myself 6 times a day to measure blood sugars and i decided it was now or never, so i plunged into south beach and i curbed my craving with a few tricks..
1) Diet rite pop..the cola version..it tastes way sweeter and way better and its made with splenda.. drinking a couple of those every day helped me get through the first rough week.
2) Sugar free jello and light cool whip..got me through desserts pretty good and same thing with sugar free ice cream..
3) Sugar free chocolate..a company called Ross chocolate makes about 8 different versions..from milk to dark to white to mint to orange to raspberry..endless flavours and they taste like real chocolate, no yucky aftertaste and only 120 calories.
4) Agave chocolate syrup..Agave doesnt make your blood sugar rise, its got a minimal affect, its 30 times sweeter than white sugar and you can get a chocolate agave syrup for ice cream...its raw cocoa and dark agave syrup and a tsp goes a long way..it helps to have somthing like that when craving sweets cause it doesnt make you crave more..and its too sweet to overdose on it..one tsp will satisfy..
As a pure chocolate/sugar addict i can say that if I did it, anyone can.
There are times i dont even want to eat my small "treats" just cause loosing makes me feel THAT good.
