The dress will do. (read: It would be much better if I were 5-10lbs lighter, but thanks to the miracle of lyrca undergarments, I can wear it.) I was beating myself up most of the afternoon (and eating everything that wasn't nailed down) because I want to look fantastic at this very posh party we have every year, but I thought....I can wear it and put a smile on my face or I can run out, spend a couple hundred dollars on something else that I will only wear for about six hours and probably no one will notice anyway. So I'm wearing it. And I won't be able to eat, which isn't such a bad thing.
Gotta run...potatoes are burning...will be back later. |
Hello All!
AMARANTHA: WAY TO GO on your loss! You are an inspiration for the rest of us. Congrats, and Keep it Going! :cp: KAYLETS & ARABELLA: hope you both feel better very soon. Take care of yourselves. SEMANAY: how are you doing today? Hope all is going well. ELLIS: I am a newbie to this forum - just wanted to say hi! Did you enjoy Harry Potter? I know you stayed away from the popcorn. FLOWER: Hello and Welcome! I see you're a big Disney fan! I have a little one and we do ALOT of Disney viewing. She's currently into Aladdin, but still loves Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast. WILDFIRE: I bet the dress looks hot! BTW- I took the plunge just this week and attacked my gray hair. I feel so much better now! ;) ANAGRAM: Thank goodness for the No Guilt Cards. Reminds us that we're human! Good luck at your next WI. ALL OTHERS that I have missed: Hope you're doing great! Good day so far... OP and got my exercise in. WI is tomorrow - WISH ME LUCK! :crossed: I think I'll do OK. I've been very good. (Yes, Santa, I've been a very good girl this year. Can I please have a loss at my next WI? Or may I please meet my Christmas Challenge goal? Thanks, Santa!) ;) 25 Days to go! WE CAN DO IT AND WE WILL! Have a good one! Make the most of it! |
It is COLD outside! Hubby and I were debating which one of us was going to return the movie we rented last night...so I made him get dressed and WALK to the movie store with me. It's only about six blocks, but that wind chill is nasty! Had to make up for my grazing all day, though. I didn't eat any great quantities of anything....just picked all day. I feel better after the wind blew right through my bones.
OH...and hubby and I were talking diet while we walked....he was saying how I'm on and off all the time and I said I'd like to see him stick to it and put out my hand to shake on it, which he did. I think I'm going to win this one. Amarantha, WAY TO GO!!!! :cb: just for you! You know, I've gotten so used to the way you typeth I think it would be strange not to see it as such. Flower, glad to see you over here! How do you plan to lose the 2" from your waist? 'Cause I might join your plan! ellis, someday I will just let my hair go silver....but I'm only 33 and I think still too young. Kaylets, sorry to hear you're under the weather, too. Hope you feel better soon! Autumn, good luck with WI tomorrow! I know you'll be reporting a loss! I'm going to declare Friday as my WI day. And I'm going to be very good this week.  |

Congrats oh great hag o' hut...Amarantha et al 71....the great wall has been burst! Way to go! Kaylets...proctor? Sounds like some medical exam. No I was stewarding...that is the person who hands out the armbands and calls the handlers and their dogs into the ring...and makes sure that the right dogs are there at the right time and in the order that the judge wants them. Interesting because of the alpha personalities we deal with....I'm one too. I love to show but am in between right now. Busy Sat and Sun...spent most of yesterday compiling items for gift bags that we send to Cote Sask. to a Native Reservation. We send bags for all the kids there...300...so I was shopping for mine, saw some steal deals, grabbed the minister and we spent a goodly amount on warm clothing...hats, scarves, mitts etc...some people donate $ so that was what we spent. Then went out in evening and saw a local production of the musical Scrooge....very well done. Then our church choir did its cantata this a.m. at the service....I'm glad 'cause I think I am getting a throat thing and I had a minor solo....he he...might not have been able to do it next Sunday! Now that things are finally settled a bit, I will tackle the living room and decorate!!!! Let's keep our hands busy and out of the baking! Ceara |
HELLO ALL JINGLES!!
Hello, just a quik note to say hello all!!!! I wonder how i ever got along without this post of friends.
AMARANTHA...you get a hug from me,and a pat on the back, congrats. on your big loss. Its awesome, i have one problem, ( i dont like it when you call yourself a hag, hey you seem much nicer than that. haha;) AUTUMN... i love that name, its so country and peacefull sounding. thanks for acknowledging my existence.haha im fine . Hey i survived the kids thanksgiving break from school. That has to mean somthing? A little stressed from it but its over, there on there way to bed right now.good luck this new week on your weight day. Looking forward to joining ww tomorrow, a little anxiouse. Well, did everyone enjoy my Dr.Phil advice, i had a few compliments but not many, hope i dident offend anyone out there. i love him hes so cool. I never miss his show. I've learned alot from him. I like when he says (you have to name it before you can claim it). well a goodnight to you all hope all is well . By the way where is Punkinseed? I miss her name scrolling up.hahah later and lighter, senamay:^: |
Wildfire, I am looking for pages of online tummy excersices we can do without any equiptment. I wish my gym wasn't in a million pieces. I was looking @ about.com and it had an article on best excersices, worst excersices on tummys. Here are the results...
Best to worst exercises for strengthening the rectus abdominus: Bicycle maneuver Captain’s chair Crunches on exercise ball Vertical leg crunch Torso Track Long arm crunch Reverse crunch Crunch with heel push Ab Roller Hover Traditional crunch Exercise tubing pull Ab Rocker Best to worst exercises for strengthening the obliques: Captain’s chair Bicycle maneuver Reverse crunch Hover Vertical leg crunch Crunch on exercise ball Torso Track Crunch with heel push Long arm crunch Ab Roller Traditional crunch Exercise tubing pull Ab Rocker Thanks for the welcome everyone. Autumn, I am a big Disney fan!!! My favorites are Grumpy, Tinkerbell, Brer Rabbit, most wicked witches :), and Flower. I have cooked the last 2 days in a row. Both nights we had balenced meals and no complaints from my children. Maybe they aren't as rotton as they seem after all. They just like my cooking better. :) I definately liked the food better. :) ~flower |
Wildfire, Here is a good page. I don't have a ball. But I can do most of them... Maybe you can find a better page. http://www.acefitness.org/updateable....cfm?pageID=51

Night falleth ...
Woo-hoo!!! Such a great chatty weekend here. Love all the activity!!! We be too busy typing to eat!!! Ending my day with the usual 27 points but had FIVE activity points and used 'em all (one of my modifications ... WW says only can eat four but Arabella says I can eat 'em all so I do)!!!
Thanks to all who sent me congrats on my sad (hah!) loss of evil demon  ... and congratulations in return to all those who are also losing or about to lose! Thanks, Ceara, for the roster and the THREE BANANAS!!! Finally! Enjoy decking the halls!!! Kaylets: Not sure what I attribute my "success" (as Amarantha prayeth for another such week) ... but it's likely to be the POINTS, as that's the only thing I'm doing differently. I'm not eating all that much less but making better choices so am not bingeing, which I was doing before. It may just be that the new program refreshed my spirit and I've been able to stay OP! Dunno! Senamay: That was a sweet thing you said about the "hag" reference ... let me explain that when I turned a certain age I got interested in the croning movement ... the honoring of women of a certain age by a funny ceremony ... in that sense, crone is a compliment because it refers to a beautiful stage of life to come, carrying with it wisdom, humor and loveliness. "Crone" was one of my user names on 3FC, but I like Amarantha better, as I decided I wasn't into cronedom quite yet ... Hag o' the Hut came into being during the Scary Halloween Challenge ... not sure if you were here yet ... and I see her as very wise and beautiful (if cranky) and a manifestation of what I aspire to be ... also I like hags because the name comes (the story goes) from "Sweater Hags" who were world travelers and businesswomen centuries ago ... they had ships and sailed around the frozen northern seas trading in knitted garments and (I suppose) wool. So I believe to be a hag is a good thing and hope to be one when I grow up! :) Re Dr. Phil, thou could not possibly offend anyone, Senamay ... sometimes the thread moves so fast, it's hard for us all to see every post so people respond in a kind of hit or miss fashion ... at least Amarantha does! (BTW, Punkinseed usually posts only on weekdays, so we can expect her soon!) Good luck at WW tomorrow!!! It'll be great, so don't be nervous! Flower: Thanks for posting the ab exercise list! What is the Captain's Chair? If it's on top o' the list, Amarantha wants to do it!! Wildfire: That's cool about making a pact with your DH! It's really great when people can make this journey in tandem!!! Good luck to you and DH, too!!! :jig: Autumn! 25 Days to go, indeed!!! Soon it'll be 24 and that's what we need! (I have no idea what that means, but it rhymes)! Woo-hoo!!! Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la ... etc. ... LET'S GO! LET IT SNOW!! (It doesn't snow here, but that rhymes, too) ... WE KNOW (what?) ... WE'RE GONNA DO THIS! (that's what) Can you tell I'm off deadline!? Hooray! |
Captains chair needs gym equipment. It is shown on the link I posted. I have one on my gym. But that is at least 6 weeks til I can get to it. But I can do it then, until then, the ol fashioned no equipment kind will have to do! :) ALtho I am tempted to buy an excersice ball. If I hate it, my 2 year old will still like it! :)
|
Autumn... hi! Yes, we loved Harry Potter. But oh lordy... I ate popcorn. But besides that, all I've eaten today is two bowls of low fat cereal with no fat milk and an apple. And the popcorn was miserably short on butter. (darn it!)
Ceara, what a beautiful thing that you do with your church. I love hearing happy things like that. :) Heck, Wildfire... my sister is only 35. And the white looks cool! :D And good... you won't be able to eat in that dress. You'll look fantastic, and you'll probably lose a couple of pounds just from the stress of holding yourself in. I hope you can sit down in it, though... you won't have to stand in the corner all night, will you? ;) goodnight, everyone!! :grouphug: |
And now she's back, from outer space...
Okay, not back from out of space, but almost back from the IL's - we leave tomorrow morning and then I'll be back at my own computer. We've had a great time out here, but will be glad to get back to Montana. Part of the reason is because I've been eating with a bit too much abandon out here! I'm afraid to go back for my WI, but am anxious to get on the 26 days Challenge. Sorry Ceara that I've been so late!
I'm going to go for now with the weight I left with (173) and say that I'd like to weigh 169. It's not a lot of a loss, but it would be so good to be out of the 170's! Speaking of being way out of the 170's, I just have to congratulate Amarantha on her losses! What a great loser!:smug: I'm really going to take on your "I will lose a pound this week!" even if I have to scream it at the top of my lungs! Also - Wildfire, I'm so glad you're getting in to your dress - I'm sure it looks even better than you think. Also, my two cents about the hair is that women look fantastic with silver hair - plus it would go great with a little black dress! To everyone else, I'm anxious to get back on here and into the fray with you - will post more when I get home! Take care all- Cybele |
Marvelous Monday!
Hello all!
Look how "pumped up" the thread is! Its really great to see so much positive energy !! Senamay: I did see the Dr Phil post too but somehow by time I started posting, I just didnt mention it. I agree w/ the Empress, there are just so many of us posting now, I read it and meant to comment but it just got away from me. I havent seen any of his programs yet (although I might tape them) but I do remember him from Oprah. I do like his "No Whining" approach. Its still bitter w/ the wind chill this am-- Definitely a morning to think twice about wet hair! Dh just advised me his early start continues this week too so... I'll catch up later. Here's to the best possible choices all day! Today's thought is: "You only live once-- but if you work it right, once is enough" Joe E. Louis |
OFF TO A GREAT START!
It must have been Amarantha's inspiration, else Santa decided to grant me my Christmas wish (albeit early!)...
I am down 1.5 lbs. Yippee! I am full of glee as I was fearing I was about to cope with a plateau. (Whew!) I said thank you to the demon scale (as he was no demon today) and thought this is the best way to start the day, as well as the week and the challenge! :D Here's hoping the losing spreads out to all of you and that each of you will be reporting a loss at your next WI. I'm at work so I can't stay on long.... 24 Days to go! WE CAN DO IT AND WE WILL! Have a good one! Make the most of it! |
Autumn, congratulations!! :cb:
Couldn't make it to the gym with mom this morning (bad weather), so I'm going with DH this evening. I'm feeling pretty energetic, and so far so good with the eating. :D Have a wonderful day, everyone! We can do it!! :grouphug: |
JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE ALL THE WAY, OH WHAT FUN IT IS TO LOSE A POUND O' FAT TODAY!!!
Ho, ho, ho, let it snow!!! Let's go, Christmas Team go!!! Wo! Autumn!!! Congratulations on thy loss o' 1.5 evil :dance:s!! Amarantha thinketh that if we talk really nice to Demon Scale, he will keep on being nice to us!! Nice Scale, Nice Scale, Nice Scale! Woo-hoo!! Have a banana! :cb: Ellis: Do you go to the gym with your mom? That's so cool! What a motivation that must be! You are right ... "We can do it!" You bet! Kaylets: I like Dr. P's no whine policy also. NO WHINE, WE CAN WIN!! WHINE AND IT COULD LEAD TO DINE!!! (Amarantha's interpretation) Flower: Thanks for reply on the Captain's Chair. Going to check that one out! BTW, Pilates is great for abs and lower back also ... the bicycle is basically a pilates exercise except for the focusing on the "scoop." Cybele: Amarantha thinketh thou must really be glad to be going home. Thou is to be commended for maintaining the same weight while traveling. That's hard to do! :cb: Have to go to newsroom today for awhile to talk to people! Then back as Amarantha wisheth to visit the Imperial Fitness Spa and float off in a sea o' tranquility for a year or so. I think we are on the 23rd day? Math skills lacking but that sounds about right. Bye-bye! |
Flower - I see you mention getting an exercise ball. I was thinking about this as well, but was wondering if anyone out here could give some more information on success/satisfaction they've had with an exercise ball. Is it destined to end up in the collection of unused exercise equipment? Has anyone gotten one and is still using it?
In the world of poor professors, feedback before a purchase is essential - if you have any experience with exercise/swiss balls, please tell us -what do you think? Cheers all- Cybele |
I'm baaaaack!!! Happy December everyone!!!
Let me just say right now how much I can't WAIT for my computer to be finished! My friend should have my computer upgraded soon so I can be online during the weekends! :cb: My Thursday post dissappeared - I was here, I swear! I maintained this week - not too shabby considering Thanksgiving and its carbo laden loveliness is my downfall. So, here's my Christmas challenge - down 5 pounds by 12/24. Start 242.0 and by "Ho-Ho-Ho" time 237.0 Today's my Dr. appt. My BP was normal all weekend - I checked it and wrote it down for 4 days, about every 4-6 hours. I'm interested to see what it'll be when I get there today... Mom's biopsy is this afternoon. Trying not to be too worried about that. She had calcifications before in her left and right breasts 3 years ago - they're thinking it's the same thing again. :crossed: Autumn - Welcome!!! Arabella - Congrats on the Reiki. I wouldn't be surprised if you are a little ill from detox. I know while I was going to massage school I had to be careful of that. A few hours of massage is enough to make you sick, nevermind Reiki - which could really getcha'. Feel better soon, k? Drink a lot of fluids. Wildfire - Thank you for starting the thread dahling... I also agree, whoever discovered Lycra should be given a Nobel peace prize - God knows it's brought me enough peace over the last few years! Kaylets - I *loved* the Disc. Health Challenge program! I wish they'd do another series with some new people. Senamay - Love Dr. Phil! I appreciate his "do it or quit whining" approach to things. Ellis - Hi there!!!! Amarantha - The amazing shrinking Empress!!! :cb: Ok, you've inspired me - I'm breaking out the journals tonight! Nice to see the spa back open - I shall be there presently. Flower - It's good to see you again!!! I know how you feel - I ate my MIL's cooking for 5 years - gained a ton of weight - then decided that was enough and took over cooking for myself (my ex wouldn't eat my "health food"). I lost 85 pounds - she was offended that I quit eating her food - guess who didn't care? Cybele - Glad to see you made it back safe n' sound from Montana. We have friends that recently moved to Helena - the pictures of the area look beautiful.... Ok, today's plans.... Dr. appt., Curves, pick up a couple things at the store and Harry Potter, AGAIN :wizard:. Yes, I'm going again. A later show, hopefully with less teens on cell phones, less children running up and down the aisle and less chatter . Besides, it'll give me another chance to oogle Alan Rickman :o Happy ho-ho-ho! Terri |
23 Days to Go!
Doing a flyby (waiting for a meeting to start) ....
and noticed that my poor math skills are showing, once again (you don't want to know how I did in math). YIKES! :fr: Yes, Amarantha is correct, it's 23 Days to Go! Thank goodness someone else can count, because I certainly can't! :o Thanks for catching that, Amarantha! :D Gotta run to that meeting - catch up with you all later! |
Hi All,
I feel quite a lot better today, not 100%, but good enough to carry on. I'm trying to nudge my house towards some semblance of cleanliness. Far, far to go after last week's work, and my son's moving in last weekend. But I have a clean-freak friend coming on the weekend and I need to get my house what I call "Lenore clean" - t'will be the first time since we moved in, for sure! But I love a clean house and it will feel good. Punkin, mmmmmm Alan Rickman :T His voice just slays me - I want to just fling myself down on the nearest chaise lounge (sp?), fling my arms in the air and say "Take me!" I don't care if he IS evil  Re: detox - they did talk about detox, but I actually started to get sick while I was still there, early in the day. Plus DH seems to have the same thing and he sure didn't have any Reiki. So I think I'm just ill, although I'd prefer to think that I was getting rid of junk and would feel like a new woman soon. I'm actually kind of down today. I think I'll have to try another workshop sometime, to see if I have more the kind of experience I expected. Cybele, are you a prof? What do you teach? My husband taught English for 6 years but couldn't get a tenure-track gig. Profs are actually paid fairly well here, and you can't beat the time off. If I thought I could count on a job, I'd be trying to get my Master's and PhD right now! Amarantha - you are doing FANTASTIC!!! :cp: The points thing is really working for you. And why-oh-why would you not count all your exercise points, just because WW said? Why DO they say that anyway? It maketh not the slightest bit of sense to me! Do have a banana, My Dove :cb: Ellis, Flower, & Autumn, Welcome! I've seen you in other threads whilst lurking :s:. Glad you found your way here, because we are going to do this thing, o yea! Wildfire, glad to hear about your dress - you must have felt fantastic! And looked it  Re: hair - I've got a couple of silvery streaks in my hair, but it's sort-of to the back and side, the hair around my face is dark. I mostly don't see the gray, and DH says he thinks it's sexy  Saw Emmy Lou Harris on a video the other day - she sure looks fantastic with her silvery hair, but I'm sure she would with purple as well... OMG, I just flipped over to another page, forgetting the forum might eat my post and it didn't this time, thank the gods! Kaylets, hope you're feeling better today. No mean feat to catch up with this bunch! :dancer: Elvettes all, hope you're feeling festive! |
Arabella, I'm glad you're starting to feel better. :) I love Alan Rickman, too. I was hoping he'd have a bigger part in Harry Potter II. He doesn't turn me on, but he fascinates me... he's SUCH a good actor. And he kills me :D
Terri, where've you been, girl! We miss you in Alternachicks... We went to see Harry Potter at the perfect time... 7:pm on a Sunday night. It wasn't busy, and our children were the only kids there. And the little one had STRICT instructions not to talk during the movie unless he was choking to death on popcorn. ;) Poor little kid... he stuck it out until the snake emerged... then we all heard this tiny little voice, "I'm scared...". Cybele, we go to the YWCA to exercise, and they have a LOT of those exercise balls there. They're very popular, and I often see various trainers showing clients how to use them. They use them during a number of exercise classes, too. I'm seriously considering trying them out... I thought perhaps they were a fad, but they've been around longer than I expected. Yes, Amarantha, I go to the Y with my mom about 3 times a week. She's in her late 70's, and is in much better shape than I am. She's a babe, and VERY cool. Naturally she drives me crazy at times, but she's my inspiration. :) Hi everyone else! ... I'm quite excited... I actually had an organized day, and I've got dinner made. Too bizarre... |
Arabella - Exactly, it's the voice... yup. I could just close my eyes and listen to him talk for hours. If you haven't seen Dogma you've GOT to - he plays the Metatron, the voice of God. Hysterical...
Ellis - I'm workin' on getting over to the Alternachicks thread more!!! Great bunch over there.... work's been insane - good insane, but still. Busy like crazy - our newest client just added almost 1/4 more to my workload. I'll take it!!!!! Now show me the MONEY!!!!!! There was a family behind me at HP last week - 2 little girls younger than 7, and I kept hearing "Daddy I don't like this" over and over and over and over... poor kid was scared to death over the spiders and snake - Dad just sat there. Tonight's show starts at 6:30pm (instead of the 3:30pm that I went to last time). Hopefully I'll catch the *entire* movie this time - for $4 it's not a problem to see it again (and yes, again to oogle). Terri :D |
Hello Friends! :D
Welcome Ellis and Autumn! And Hi to Flower; I remember you from the Alternative thread from a few months ago. I still read your journal, BTW. Wildfire, I love my silver hair--I have a salt and pepper thing going now and can't wait for it to get whiter. So who knows, you might want to give it a try sometime! Senamay, thanks for posting the Dr. Phil stuff--I like him a lot. Cybele, I have a fitness ball and I haven't really mastered working out with it yet--I like it though. Strangely, I use it as a chair. Really! It gives you perfect posture like one of those fancy ergonomic ones!!! Punkin, Best of luck to your mom. I'll be sending her and you the good stuff! Congrats, Amarantha, on the weight loss. Here's a bouquet of bananas!:cb: :cb: :cb: Punkin, Arabella, and Ellis----Do not get me started on Alan Rickman. Yes, I'd just like to lay back and let that voice drip over me like warm honey............sorry, I went away there for a while!:o  :o |
Thanks Eydie for the thoughts - she just called a few minutes ago. She's out, the procedure took just about 2 hours (called a mamatome, fancy hollow needle into which they insert a scoop to take out the "spot"). She sounds good and was going to get some food, then home.
Ha! She's more worried about my stupid BP appt. than her appt! My surrogate Grandma is a lab tech/diagnostician and last time, 3 years ago, she got the lab results back and called us 3 days before the Dr. did. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she gets them again - the less waiting the better! :grouphug: Terri |
Thanks, Eydie!
Terri, I'm glad your mom's procedure is over with. Hope she gets the results really soon. love and hugs... |
Mon evening
Hello All!
Punkinseed! Glad the medical issues are looking up this Monday- for your Mom and yourself! And yes, you will wonder how you ever managed w/o a computer at home very quickly! I guess I'm the only one who doesnt know who Alan Rickman is! Guess I have to do a Google search on him so I can stay current! Arabella- glad you're feeling better- Housework can be a good thing-- if you say so! :^: :^: Cybele, welcome back from your trip- Wildfire- did you tell us what the dress looks like? Ceara, please mark me for .5 loss. Not complaining, its still a loss! And I have no idea where "proctoring" came in- We have beagles, mixed breeds who pretty much are enjoying the proverbial "dog's life". The only competition these two know is who's going to get to the chow first! ;) ;) Need to pay some bills so I'll stop here-- Till later! :genie: |
WOW, is this thread moving!
Ceara...300 kids? That's amazing! What a great thing! Senamay, congrats on surviving Thanksgiving break with the kids! ;) How did WW go? I haven't seen a lot of Dr. Phil because I'm still at work when he's on here, but the odd time I've been home early enough to see him, he was good. Flower Power, great research! I'm thinking about getting an exercise ball. They're supposed to be good for strengthening your back, too, just from balancing on them in a seated position. I'll check out those links, thanks! I used to be a pro at the Captain's Chair....10 years ago when I was into weightlifting....makes you wonder where it all started to go wrong...but I digress. ellis, yes, I can sit in the dress. I plan to dance all night anyway, though, so it doesn't matter. :dancer: Did you make it to the gym tonight? I'd heard that this HP was darker and scarier than the first. Hope the little one doesn't have any lasting effects. Welcome back, Cybele! Kaylets, you're up as early as me! I know why I'm insane, but why are you up at that early hour? The dress is actually kinda plain. This party is at Glen Abbey Golf & Country Club (where Tiger won the Canadian Open tournament last year), and it's a formal thing. It's a dress and jacket combo...black, fitted, sleeveless, knee-length dress with just a little bit of red embroidery on the chest...the little vine has flowers that look like mini pointsettias...and the jacket is the same length as the dress, long sleeves, fitted, with a single button at the chest and nice soft lapel. When the jacket is buttoned, you can see the embroidery on the dress. It's in a crepe fabric that drapes beautifully. Most years I wear a full-length evening gown (last year's was silver lace lined in black), but this dress was SUCH a steal and it's kinda tux-like, so I think it will fit in nicely. Sexy shoes and a sparkly bag, and I'm all set. Hey, congrats on the .5lb loss! Punkin, keeping :crossed: for your Mom. How was your appointment? Arabella, glad you're feeling better today. Eydie, how are you? We seem to pass each other in the halls but never have time for a chat! CONGRATS, Autumn! :cb: Had a good day, hoping for another tomorrow. We went to Wendy's for lunch today and I had a Jr. Hamburger and a small chili....hubby had a cheese & bacon baked potato, biggie fries, and a chili with cheese. Think I'm gonna win this one. Hey...I bowled a 212 tonight! :smug: Gotta pack lunches. Catch y'all on the flip side. |
Report from spaland ...
Amarantha be inspecting the Imperial Fitness Spa this afternoon as she hath not a lick o' work to do till Wednesday, really! Had a lovely spa dinner prepared by Elberta Crone (aka Lean Cuisine Lady). It was almond chicken and rice and only 6 points! Followed by WW Frozen Cookie Dough Sundae (also prepared fresh by Elberta Crone, who hath resumed her former position as spa nutritionist and chef). Hath had two walks around the spa grounds (replete with doves, peace lilies and views o' the Sea o' Tranquility in the distance). One walk be 60 minutes, the second several hours later be 40 minutes! Amarantha be counting each 20-minute walking segment as 1 point, just to be on the safe side, though the first walk was really a jogwalk. She ate four of the activity points and banked one so's it be not lost, HRH WN Arabella, thou be so right about that WW policy being nuts. Amarantha is banishing such a policy from her empire.
Punkin: So glad thy mom's procedure be over with and also crossing fingers for good news on that front! Mayhap when that good news comes, thy BP situation might also improve, as the stress of not knowing might be having an effect on that front? Wildfire: Floating in the peaceful spa whirlpool bath, Amarantha realizeth that she forgot to congratulate thee on thy dress! She most heartily does so now!!! It soundeth beautiful and I bet you look smashing in it! :cp: Kaylets: Congrats on the half  Amarantha seeth retreating from thy environs! Woo-hoo!!! No  has a chance in this Yuletide Gathering!!!! BTW, Amarantha doth not know who Alan Rickman is either, or didn't until she read this thread! :jig: Eydie: Thanks be for the Banana Bouquet!!! :cb: BTW, I've seen those strange ball chairs in office supply catalogs ... they have legs and arms and the ball thing as a seat. Dost thou remember also a few years back they had those office chairs where you basically had to kneel forward and kind of sit on a slanted seat and there was no back to them? I think your idea of just using the exercise ball as a seat is much more sensible. Ellis: Love it that thy mom be in her 70s yet remaineth a babe! Good for her!!! That's a reminder of how good life can be when we maintain a fit and healthy body! No soapbox intended, just makes one think! :) Arabella: Glad thou be feeling better, sorry thou hast to clean though! :jig: Amarantha be feeling like calling the Imperial Cleaning Crew in tomorrow herself, but shopping would be so much better. Autumn: Actually, Amarantha didn't mean to correct thy math as she didn't note thou had posted on the topic o' the day!! :jig: Amarantha was just asking if it was the 23rd day because Amarantha's math skills be pitiful ... worse than anyone's she be totally sure!!! But, after all, that's why nature created calculators, is it not? :) TO ALL IN AND OUT O' THE HALL!!! FOL-LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL, ETC.!!! Off to read my mystery novel now. Rising gently from the Imperial Whirlpool! The towel boy awaits, bearing fresh terry cloth ... |

Targetting Tuesday!!
Weatherman is already calling this eveing 's weather the Tuesday Night Teens! We're breaking records weather wise here in Delaware! Spent some time digging for a real winter coat and was pleased that a favorite bought on sale is wearable! If you can count only being able to button one button! But it does appear to fit when tied and frankly, we've had such mild winters lately, the bigger size coats have been gone awhile. Did find a big scarf that matches the coat perfectly. So glad the scarves are back again. This one was given to me by a niece when she was small. She's a junior in highschool now so you know how old the scarf is! As long as I'm just running to the car, I'll be fine-- It would be different if I had to wait for a train or walk a distance.
Senamay! Isnt it the truth about what the children thinks happens while their away! and to add to Dr. Phil's comments- dont' remember who said it, maybe Emeril but the quote is" If we really are what we eat, I'm afraid a lot of people are frenchfries" And Congrats on 3lbs down! Wildfire! The dress sounds so classy! and you know what, you won't regret wearing it this year! Because it probably will be too big next year!!!;) DH will be green when he hears about the bowling score! As for getting up early-- My previous job had lots of extra hours, and I found I got so much more done b/4 anyone else got there- As well as DH's schedule had him at his job for 6:30-- Then I learned, Monday mornings were easier if I didn't sleep in on the weekends. Which is perfect for yardsales and etc because often the best buys are the first buys. When I had to change jobs, the extra time in the am became mine. Ideally, using the bike and Total Gym a few times each week too. Autumn! Congrats on 1.5 down! Its a beautiful thing when we're rewarded! Eydie! Glad to see you about the boards! It's not the same when you don't have a chance to stop by! For everyone ( including the towel boys) - here's to making the best choices: "If your house is on fire, warm yourself by it" -- Spanish Proverb :genie: |
Wildfire, your dress sounds great!
Senamay, I saw Dr. Phil yesterday--sort of. I was in and out of the room making dinner, but I recorded it and will watch it today. I figured that maybe there's some piece of the puzzle there that'll get to me. In essence, it seems he was saying to "grow up"! and stop overeating and/or eating badly. Sigh.....Speaking for myself, I know all the right things to do yet for some deep dark reason I resist. Woke up with a sore throat this morning. Ick. And I just got over a really bad cold a week ago. Drat, I don't want this to be one of those winters where I stay sick all the time. Time to get serious---I haven't been taking really great care of myself lately. But today's a new day! |
Morning!

Kaylets, you are so right. Have not yet had time to even scan all posts. Must be the most active thread!
Won't have time today either. Dh in hospital. So I'm off for quick shower and then over to see what happens today. |
HAPPY TUESDAY!
What a great thread! So much activity, so many different interests, and lots of success with losing weight!
Thanks for all the congrats and support. You guys are great! IT IS DARN COLD HERE TODAY IN CONNECTICUT! YIKES! I'd rather have the cold than the heat and humidity of summer, but the cold temps this AM tests that preference to the MAX. I imagine that all the Elfetts from Canada are smirking on my definition of Darn Cold! ;) Off to another good start: got up and did my exercise (even tho the warm covers were oh so inviting), got the girls off to school and now am waiting for my 10:00 mammogram appt. Not expecting any problems - it's a 6 mth follow-up to an infection I had in May. KAYLETS: Congrats on your loss! Every .5 counts towards your goal! You go girl! :cp: BTW - How's DH feeling? Hope he is moving quickly on the road to recovery. SENAMAY: Way to go your loss as well! You're doing great - keep that up and your 26 Days of Christmas challenge is a done deal! :cb: I don't get to watch Dr Phil but when I've seen him on Oprah, I've liked his style. I agree that he's basically saying "Grow Up Already!" and you know what? He's right. It's just hard to get past those inbred habits. CEARA: what a great thing that our thread's weight losses has created an over-abundance of bananas! Thanks again for keeping the tally for us. EYDIE: Hope that sore throat was a flyby thing, perhaps related to turning the heat up! Stay healthy! :) AMARANTHA: Your postings are "glowing" with your good mood. You are doing great! It's amazing how motivating a loss can be. (BTW - if your math is as bad as mine, we're going to be great friends! I married an accountant to take care of anything related to numbers!) WILDFIRE: Congrats on your bowling score. My DH is a former bowler and quite good too so I know a little about bowling. And I agree with Kaylets - your dress sounds gorgeous! You are going to look awesome! :smoking: PUNKINSEED: Hope your mom is doing welll after her procedure. How did it go with your BP test? Here's a group hug from all of us to let you know you're in our thoughts! :grouphug: ANAGRAM: Hope all is well with your DH! :flow1: ELLIS, CYBELE, FLOWER, DOLLAR, ARABELLA (and anyone else I missed): Hi there and hope you have a great day! For all the Alan Rickman fans: I too think his voice is divine. I loved him in Die Hard, RobinHood Prince of Thieves (he was the best part of that movie!) as well as Harry Potter. He's terrific. 22 Days to go! WE CAN DO IT AND WE WILL! Have a good one! Make the most of it! |
Wow you have been busy on the threads. Hi im back from spending time with my parents. Things are still a little crazy witht he passing of my grandma, moms breast cancer and dads bi pass. But i think im recovering and ready to have a successful weight loss and get back into my old routine. So im still at 186 and really would get down to 180 by christmas. Im not sure how im going to pull it off..but i will try.
Amarantha, you are inspiring me to try WW again! Sounds like you are doing so awesome! That makes me feel happy and gives me hope. Pumpkinseed i am praying for you and your mom and im truely sorry that you have to go through all this. As i was reading through all the threads i was looking for your postings. Eydie yea im sorry your throat is sore...its seems to be the time of year for that. It snowed here in boston...so cold...so sad. Alan Rickman what part did he play in harry potter? yea i hear the second one is darker and scarier which i dont think is good for the kids...oh well. Hi to all i will post later..just wanted to to get back in touch. Sheryl |
Hi there!!
Chilly frozen fog here today! Creepy stuff - it's wet, then hits the ground and freezes. Drove home in it last night which makes for some interesting driving. Think I'm staying home tonight until it lifts. Thank you all so much for your thoughts on Mum... she's doing great, crabby, but great. Should have results back soon... As for me... :cb: White coat hypertension!!!! :cb: They tested my monitor against theirs and they're almost dead on. For 4 days I checked my BP and it was between 118/75 to 126/85. Yesterday at the Dr.'s it was 175/89 (my monitor showed the same). My Dr. comes in, looks at my chart, looks at my post-it note with my readings from the 4 days I checked it at home and started laughing! She said "thank goodness, I don't have to medicate you". She said to monitor it myself once or twice a month and that's it. She also said to keep up the good work at Curves and that it didn't matter that it's taken me 10 months to loose 18 pounds - what mattered was that it was *happening*. I felt so good that I drove to Curves after my appt. Feeling high because I no longer felt like a walking time bomb... Kaylets and Scooby - Ok, Alan Rickman was in a few things, mostly theater though. He was the bad guy in the first Die Hard, the Metatron in Dogma and Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter. The man can snear like no one I've ever seen... Senamay - Dr. Phil is so right - it's not what or when, it IS why. When the Dr. called about my BP I went into a tizzy, then after calming I sat down and had dinner (Taco Bell, great choice  ). I felt medicated... drugged. Bad sign. I do use food as a drug and that instance really opened my eyes. Eydie - Echinacia tea and honey!!! NOW!!! You can't be sick during the holidays!! :nono: Anagram - How's hubby? Keep us posted ok? Scooby - Welcome back sweet. I'm glad things are starting to settle some - it takes awhile to resume "normal" life after someone passes. I don't think my Mom was "normal" for almost a year... Thank you for the thoughts for my Mom. ;) Alan Rickman plays Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies. You're right - the 2nd movie I wouldn't recommend for kids younger than 8 or 10 (depending on maturity). I think it's funny the amount of adults that are into it! Ok, time to get some work done... big ol' hugs to you all! Terri |
Anagram, crossing fingers and toes for thy dh! Hang in and please let us know how all is going!
Filed at the Imperial Good News Gazette, Tuesday, a.m.: GOOD NEWS!!! CHRISTMAS BE 22 DAYS AWAY!!! (I THINK)! :jig: MORE GOOD NEWS: Senamay hath escaped the clutches o' THREE EVIL :dance:s!!!! Congratulations, Senamay!!! :cp: GOOD NEWS FOR AMARANTHA: It seemeth to be cold here in Amarantha's Empire, but when she readeth these posts, she realizeth that 69 degrees be not cold in the universal scheme o' things, so she feeleth warmer!!! GOOD NEWS FOR AUTUMN: She hath a dh who can do math! Would thou like to trade for a towel boy? :) BAD NEWS FOR EYDIE: She hath a sore throat! The Hag o' the Hut hath peered in her crystal ball and recommendeth hot lemonade! GOOD NEWS: Life sucks, sometimes! (That's the good news, Amarantha?) Yes, it does, but sometimes it doesn't suck and sometimes it REALLY doesn't suck and in fact is quite amazing and we never know from day to day which of those situations is going to apply. So Amarantha hath resolved to always live as though the non-suck times are going to last forever and when the other side o' the coin be evident, she's going to ignore it AND she's going to get fit and weigh 135 pounds forever!!! Woo-hoo!! EDITORIAL COMMENT: To all whom the word, "sucks" offends, Amarantha apologizes. Interesting word, not meant to bother anyone, merely a word. Amarantha retreatheth to the palace now to meet with accountants (e.g., have to pay bills). Later she will do weights slow, heavy and short. She hath already overseen the cleaning crew (e.g., me) who hath cleaned the palace from top to bottometh! She must squeeze in beading so she can finish a bracelet to wear to work the school BORED meeting tomorrow night and she must finish a mystery novel so she can loan it to someone who wants it. MARCHING ON TO A FIT CHRISTMAS!!! HO! HO! HUG! :grouphug: |
Good morning darlings...
Terri...White coat hypertension!! How wonderful! :D You're doing great with Curves, hon! Yes, Wildfire... made it the gym last night with DH. I had a GREAT workout. I biked for 30 minutes, then ran for 15 minutes straight, then did some weights. And I just got back from the Y with mom this morning. I don't LOOK good, but I feel good. It's FREEZING out there!! Sheryl... I'm sorry about your Grandma. :( And I hope your parents are doing alright. hugs and prayers... Autumn... I hope your mammogram went well. Good going with the exercise, girl!! Anagram... is your DH alright? hugs and prayers for you, too... Thanks Ceara... that 186 doesn't look so far away when I see it in print. :D Kaylets, today I wore a scarf that an old girlfriend knitted for my DH about 20 some years ago. He wanted to throw it out, but it's pretty cozy, and I'm not the jealous type. :) Senamay, Alan Rickman has two eyes set very close together with a big nose in between. I remember him from years ago when he used to play a clergyman named Slope on some British serial. He's great. Amarantha... a spa!! You lucky girl. Hey, the food you're eating sounds yummy! Eydie... look after that sore throat, hon. Hi to everyone else... Arabella, Cybele, Dollar, Flower, Tipper... :grouphug: |
P.S. Scooby, welcome back!!! Here's a banana to hold tide thee over! :cb:
Also, comment re HARRY! Love that kid! Anyhow, Amarantha refuseth to see the movies (but she's cracking) as she loveth the books so much and the idea that these books have brought children to reading that never read before. Definetely the books are getting darker and darker, but mayhap it's just because it's supposed to be the story of Harry's life and as a child grows, well, stuff happens! :) I've never been convinced the books are for kids anyway, though they gobble them up, and I totally concur that only mature kids should see the movie and ONLY after they read the books!!!! To anyone who has seen the movies and not read the books, Amarantha recommends thee (thou?) runneth to the library as soon as possible ... these are a great read and though Amarantha hath nothing against movies (loves 'em, in fact) the books should be READ first!!! Read, read, read! Climbing off soapbox, now!!! Hope no one findeth Amarantha's advice-giving to be onerous or offensive! She's been troubled lately by this voice in the shadows claiming to be a Dr. Philbertha ... |
akward mall story
Hello all to all my friends even though i never seen your faces. haha. Well thanks for all the bannannas and claps they made me feel so good.:smug:
Yesterday me and a friend went to the mall and looked around for christmas presents, well i found myself waiting on her in the hall way so i thought i window shop a minute, well i ended up in front of Victoria Secret shop, (the secret being you must be a size 2 to wear anything in here.) Anyway, i was in front of the store just standing there looking in toes still in the hallway, and a thought popped in my mind that i better move, people are propbably wondering what im looking in here for i suddenly felt under glass and walked away.I felt sad and kinda depressed that i feel that way about myself, but its true. I have a bad self image. One time years ago, when the store first opend i got up enough nerve to walk inside, and naturally the sales girl was thin and pretty, but a personality of a rock!! She comes up to me and ask, may i help you find something? And i just smiled and said, (the only thing you have in here that i could wear would be socks or perfume.!!) Naturally she didnot laugh, but oh well . I was out of there. this chick aint wearing nothing see through yet, not until i receive a bunch of banannas or the whole bananna tree!!:dizzy: If anyone has ever seen the movie Hairspray, with Rickie Lake in it. good movie very cute. But she shops at the Hefty Hideaway shop.hahaha thought that was cute. But in all seriouseness, IM SICK OF SHOPPING ONLEY IN THE PLUS SIZE DEPARTMENT, OR THE WALMART LAUNGERIA DEPT.Im tired of the words plus, and hefty, anf full figured women, and just my size??? HELLO who thought of that one, oh i'll just take the size 22 (its just my size??)hahaha id rather say i'll take the size 12 its the size i wanna be. :^: OH WELL... the winter months have a way of attaking your positive side. So glad all of you are doing so well. must admit, i cant hold it in any longer is everyone sitting down??? Here it goes. I ATE A FEW BROWNIES totally went postal dident even reconize myself, but there gone, nothing i can do now but scream! I could say the devil made me do it, but i know i did . WRong choice. but i'm fighting pre holiday snacking . hahah well i will walk tonight on treadmill while my kids have swim pracrice. luck to all.......later and lighter,(hopefully) senamay:^: |
My last little snipet about Harry Potter...
Yes, the books get darker as they go - in #4 someone dies (that's all I'm gonna say for those of you who haven't read it) and I'm sure they'll get more "mature" as they go - she has 2 more the write, #5 is done, but is almost a year past due for release... Anywhooo... I think the movies scare the kids more because in the books it's only as scary as their imagination allows it to be. In the movies you're *shown* how scary it is. Kids minds have a finite amount of "bad stuff" that can happen in regards to spiders n' snakes, etc. But to be shown all of it, I'm sure is overwhelming. Ok, that's my bit - back to work! Terri |
