  • i love that idea! i drink bunches of water and that will really work out for me.

I dont have a sit down job, im in the retail business so im on my feet seven to eight hours a day. what i did do was i bought ankle weights and wear them to work. MAN do i feel the burn when we get busy!
and when i watch General hospital I usually take my 5 pound weights and work out my arms durning commercials!lol.

Chatterbox- I do the same thing at school. i could easily park closer but that's a ten minute walk im getting right there!
  • Great idea.
I would like to adopt it, but I don't know how it is in other places of business - although we are located in a building that is only 5 years old, the bathroom cubicles are TINY. I don't think I can squat there without colliding with the toilet.

I had a similar idea last night. I watched X-Weighted and at the beginning, there was an assessment of the participant's physical performance (so that it can be compared to the same after 6 months). One part of it was stepping on a step. The trainer said an average person should do 60 in a 2 minute interval. I don't have a step at home but I have a small stool (it may be a bit lower than a gym step with all the platforms added but that's all I had).
I wondering how to figure out the timing and counting at the same time. I don't a timer (and I don't wear a watch) but I smartly (LOL) put a big glass dish with water in the microwave and I set it to 2 minutes and 5 seconds.
Once or twice, I knocked the stool over - it was a bad idea to do it in the kitchen where it can slide on the vinyl floor - tonight, I will try it on the rug in the living room. I accomplished 79 steps in 2 minutes.
  • I know this sounds weird but when I go to the fridge and I'm not suppose to I do sidekicks to "kick away" the cravings. XD
  • Hi, I'm new to this thread, but enjoy lurking around and reading everyone's advice. I do a 30 minute routine either video, treadmill, eliptical, or bike 5 - 6 days a week. I try to wiggle in some extra stuff watiching TV at night by doing lunges off the couch or leg lifts during commercials, or just wondering around to strech my legs. Great ideas from all of you!
    Thanks.
  • This is a great thread idea. I swear by keeping active throughout the day. If I drive somewhere, I park as far away as I can from the building, and take stairs wherever I can. Sometimes I will take an extra flight or two of stairs here in my building or just run from the top to the bottom flights and back to my door.

Like others here, I like doing cruches, lunges, and leg lifts during tv shows... I play music sometimes and dance around when I'm doing chores and cooking. I just look for excuses to move and I feel like I'm always in motion... and I think it's all definitely added up and made a difference.
  • I love the squats idea! I started doing that yesterday after reading this thread and I can feel it today.

I don't have much to offer. Sometimes I tense my abs if I'm driving for a while, or sitting in front of the computer (which is a lot, unfortunately). I also live in an upstairs dormitory, so I try to run up the stairs whenever possible.
  • I did the Pee Squats today too!

Actually, I rotated and did one set of squats, then on my next bathroom visit I did reverse lunges instead.

I wound up doing 30 of each today.

This is perfect for me because my work has the larger handicap stalls. I am really glad I read this thread!
