Hi there - I'm a newbie, this is my first post. Have been browsing threads looking for 50-somethings, but havn't hit on it yet! Still, I have to say I read the bit about the Chicken Alfredo and had to commiserate. I've yet to learn to effectively talk to myself when faced with temptation (sweets are my downfall, Haagendazs, the occasion salty snack) - and I do well keeping that sort of thing out of my home, but at the office (January 2nd, there was a HUGE tray of bagels and muffins etc), or at the house where I have a part-time job as a personal chef, there are often sweets around! Cheesh. It's hard. But, yesterday - after losing FIVE POUNDS since New Year's Eve (by just stepping up my walking, and eliminating sugar, icecream and salt), I found myself deliberately driving through MACDONALDs and eating a large fries!! I mean, what IS that? You can't even call it mindless eating! I literally made a conscious decision (though unconcious, if you understand me) to DO it! I should know better by now. But, this is my goal - to find the "language" to talk myself out of such idiocy!
