What's the word for... ?

  • This has me thinking.

We "outgrow" things when we gain weight.

What is the word for when we "shrink" and can fit into our old clothes?

I can't brain today... I haz the dumbs
  • lol my word would be "WooHoo!"
  • Downsized?!
  • I don't know if there is a commonly used word, but I always just say that I've shrunk out of my clothes. I figure most people get the point.

    And, lol on the "woohoo"
  • Oh. That's a good one. Here are some synonyms:

compress, concentrate, condense, constrict, contract, decrease, deflate, diminish, drop off, dwindle, fail, fall off, fall short, grow smaller, lessen, narrow, reduce, shorten, shrivel, wane, waste, waste away, weaken, wither, wrinkle

Soooo.... we lessen? narrow? deflate? LMAO I really don't know. I'm with Summerfawn. WOOHOO!!
  • You certainly deflate when you decrease bra size.

    Downsize

    Pour-into a size smaller?
  • Not all words have antonyms that have a one-to-one correlation.

Basically, you have to say it in a phrase. You can say you've dropped down into your older clothes. Or have lost a size and are back into your older clothes. But I don't think there is another word for "undergrow"
  • "My clothes are too big now."
    Well, that's what I say!
  • When my DS15 grew out of some of his clothes, he gave me his "hand me ups".

I want this in my signature!!
  • I say "outgrow" and "undergrow" all the time!
  • I love all these answers! and yes! Woo Hoo!

I'm looking at Pint Sized Terror's list of words and so many of them have a negative feel to them in the english language. Maybe part of the retraining of our brains is the acceptance of less being an ok thing.

Eliana ~ go for it! It's one of my favorite I Can Haz Cheeseburger titles, one I relate to a lot lately.
