Mini Meals

One technique good for losing weight is having mini meals all through out the day. Mini meals help in disciplining food intake because one should take in small portions only. I encourage trying this method. Let me know if you got questions.

I have been eating like this lately, and it really does seem to help too because you don't get so hungry since you aren't going for very long without eating. I also think it helps to keep my blood sugar a little more stable so I don't crash and then load myself with sugar and start a whole crappy cycle.

Personally not a fan of the minimeals, but I know it works for alot of people and suits their lifestyles.

I just don't want people to think that if they can't plan 6 or 8 meals a day then weightloss is impossible or harder. Definitely not. I have no problem eating 3 meals a day, and the rest of the time I stay the heck away from food, period. I feel fantastic, and as long as I'm eating quality nutrition I have no issues with hunger, so it works great for me.

People shouldn't be afraid to experiment to find what works for them best!

I've never liked the mini meal thing because I am never satisfied after a meal. If I'm not full after at least one meal a day I'm not going to last long.

It is a popular thing but I am so happy others don't do it. I just can't. I am better off eating three meals a day. I always go over my calorie allotment if I do mini meals.

Since the beginning, I've been doing 3 meals (medium breakfast, large lunch, small dinner and 1-2 small snacks during the day). It's more realistic for me and I like the schedule.

Whatever works for you is what I think is the perfect plan. It's a personal thing that everyone needs to experiment and fiddle with on their own. What works for some may not work for you.

I did this when I was 21 and single/childless with nobody to cook or care for except myself. Doesn't work out well with a family to cook for. Calories in, calories out, I'll make life a little simpler thanks :)

I also do the 3 meals and 1 snack a day. Jillian Michaels said one time on her radio show the 6 mini meals causes a spike in insulin constantly throughput the day and that the idea came from bodybuilders that eat 3,000+ calories a day where they need to breakup their meals. A woman eating 1200-1500 calories may find it harder to break things down into 5-6 meals, where it would be hard to really have a 'full meal'.

I'm learning more discipline eating 3 meals a day and a snack since it was the always eating throughout the day and night that made me gain weight.

I also don't like mini-meals. I want to feel like I've really eaten a meal and not just had a bunch of snacks all day.

no mini-meals for me either! moderate breakfast, moderate lunch, very light dinner and maybe a light snack or two...i do tend to "cheat" on the weekend tho hehehe

This has definitely been a case for personal preference over the years. I personally wasn't happy with it, but some people are :)

I guess it depends on what a "mini meal" is. I used to eat 3 meals of 300-400 cals and 2 snacks of 100-200. Or, sometimes I would skip a snack because I was having a big lunch.

An evening snack would mean eating less at one of the earlier meals or snacks.

The important thing for me was to not eat too frequently--no less than 2 hours between a snack and meal, and sometimes 3 hours.

So, I can see how it could work for some people who don't like that hungry feeling.

I'd rather have three healthy, massively filling (but not massive!) meals a day than 5-8 mini meals that leave me only satisfied.

SCraver 10-15-2010 09:23 AM

Mini meals don't work for me, either. I need to feel full after a meal or two or three throughout the day. I would rather give up a snack or two if I have to to have a good meal.

If I have mini meals thoughout the day, I just feel like I am doing the bare minimum to chase hunger away... a battle that I then lose in the evening and over-indulge.

TornadoSiren 10-15-2010 09:24 AM

the minimeal thing is definitely not for me. Never being fully satisfied would not be doable for me. I have to feel fully satisfied at least once a day, and a 150 to 250 calorie meal is not going to do that for me.
