Mini-meals always remind me of the Pizza Diet, in which a guy in Florida ate a slice of pizza every three hours each day for 30 days. So he ate at 6, 9, 12, 3, 6, and 9. If the slices were about 250 calories each, he's only eating about 1500 calories. That's well within most "weight loss" levels, especially for a male who bikes regularly.

Mini meals works great for me! It's just me and my fiance who works rotating shifts every 4 days! I spent years in college eating nothing all day, stuffing food in my mouth on my walk to work and then gorging at night when I got home. Now eating ever 2-3 hours even if it's a fruit here, and a bowl of soup there I feel much better through out the day and I never really feel hungry anyway because I am always drinking coffee.
When my fiance is home for a meal I just make a huge pile of it and keep the left overs in the fridge. I always have rice and veggies in the fridge to mix and match for a quick meal. When I eat I'll add the calorie count to my tally and I stop at 1400. Most nights I have enough calories left over to have a big mug of lemon tea with honey. Yum! |
Hmm. Is it possible to be somewhere between min-meals and 3 meals? I just cannot face food first thing in the morning. I usually have a small brealfast around 11-ish, sometimes a little earlier, sometimes later. More food at 1 or 2-ish. More at 4-5 ish. Dinner at 7. Snack before bedtime.
October 14 2 c milk (for my coffee, so it's the total over the whole day) 244 1st meal 1/2 can chicken 155 greens 24 couscous 168 dressing 50 next meal/snack yogurt 140 next meal/snack eggbeaters 120 feta 70 dinner mexican pumpkin chili 410 biscuits 160 pudding (s/f) 80 snack almond milk 75 1696 I don't usually have the pudding and I often have lower cal dinners, so that's just one example. I must be the odd chick out, though. I like to eat all day long, a little at a time. I am always hungry even if I only eat one huge meal or 3 regular meals. So this way, I feel like I am always just a little hungry instead of always a lot hungry except for 20 minutes right after dinner. I'm glad there are lots of ways to work the program so we can all do what works best for each one of us!:dizzy: Barb |
I've tried the mini meal thing, but it only worked over the summer...now that I'm back in school and got a new job at a hospital, I can barely find the time to eat three times a day! Of course this means that I'm usually starving in between.
Soooo... I know I'm not the only one with this problem... How do you deal with the time crunch? :) |
Being in a cubicle all day I opt for 3 meals and 1-3 snacks per day, depending on how I'm feeling and how my calories are shaking out for the day.
Breakfast 200-300 Lunch 300-400 Dinner 400-500 Snacks 200-500 depending on the other meals and my hunger level. I usually snack once or twice during my work day, and sometimes late in the evening if I feel hungry after dinner and just need a bite. |
I HATE mini-meals, truly hate that way of eating. I want to eat three meals a day without any snacks. That's the way I ate when I was thin for decades and that's how I want to eat now. I find if I start snacking then it doesn't stop and it's just mindless eating. If I don't get up from the table full it's a recipe for disaster for me. I don't want to think about food every waking moment. I don't want to plan little baggies of snacks either LOL. I know it works for some but not for me. Everybody I know who buys those 100 calorie snack bags always ends up eating several of them at a time.
