I'll have to echo what everyone else has said. I get cold extremely easily too, and I can't even imagine how I'll feel when I'm in the 100's. It's like a completely different body in that respect. I used to get hot so easily. Now walking through the sections of our grocery store where the veggies and fruits are is a PAIN.

As for the heat, I can handle it much better now. It's really bad where I'm at, but I am actually comfortable being outside this year - last year at my heaviest it was hard.

Ah yes, I was made aware of this change recently when I went on a trip & shared hotel rooms with my mother, who weighs about what I used to weigh & is about my same height. We had, er, issues, to put it politely, about what level the airconditioner should be set on in the room at night. I needed a light blanket over me when she was just getting comfortable.

But chalk me up as another one who wilts under humidity. That hasn't changed much.

There's an additional benefit to daily exercise: I think sweating hard daily while working out has made me a bit more comfortable with my own sweat & body & less self-conscious about it. When I do get sweaty, instead of thinking, "I'm sweaty because I'm a big, fat, hot mess," I think, "Damn, it's really hot & humid outside. I feel like I've been doing cardio for an hour straight, at least, but all I did was walk three blocks." My sweating is less about me being weak & worthless & more a neutral fact & a blameless reaction to weather conditions.

I still don't love the heat, like above the mid 80's - I would love if it were in the mid 70's all year long, but boy oh boy is a 180 degree difference. I used to dread and loathe the summer. Just thinking about now is getting me all uptight. The heat, yes the chaffing of the thighs, I used to sweat terribly, under my breasts, behind my knees, I had a constant sweat moustache, was always red faced, hair sweaty - yuck, yuck and more yuck. I also didn't go swimming for decades, stayed away from the beach, water parks, outdoors - just horrible, horrible memories.

And then there's the clothes. Ahh... what a difference. I no longer have to wear black all summer! Like that really hid all that fat anyway.

But I just love the summer clothing! It's so light and airy and open and free and feminine and sexy - luv, luv, luv. Although of course I've got to bring a sweater with me where ever I go. Can't take any chances that I'll wind up indoors for even a minute and have to be bare armed - brrrr. :)

I have noticed lots of changes in how my body reacts to temperature changes.

When I was younger, in my 20s and 30s, I had a really hard time handling the heat and humidity--I'm pretty sure that my added weight did not help the situation. I now think it had something to do with my thyroid because once I started on medication I was more able to tolerate the heat and humidity. I also was more comfortable during the cold winters (I live in MN--'nuf said) after medication.

Now that I've lost weight, the cold winters are miserable for me. I have invested in plenty of long underwear and often wear 3+ layers including 2 pairs of socks. I LOVE the heat and humidity. Bring on the heat. I cannot get enough. Air conditioning is too cold. I'm still wearing my short sleeved cuddle duds under my t-shirts, under a jacket, at work. :( Weirdly, my lower half does not get as cold, so I've been wearing sandals, knee length skirts and bermudas. I only have one pair of capris that fit. I'm waiting for sales. I also never leave home without a sweater/jacket.

I too now love the heat and dread the cold. Just being at the office is often too cold for me, not to mention grocery stores, movie theaters, etc. I have found, however, that daily exercise seems to help reset my internal thermostat somewhat--at least, I am much more tolerant of the cold when I am exercising every day.

I just stumbled upon this thread, and it is SUCH a big motivator for me! I live in Florida (it's 96 right now...) and I HATE the heat so much. I'm so looking forward to not feeling like I'm hiking uphill toward an open oven every time I leave the house.
