Hi there...I am new to this site and would really like to join a group that will help motivate me to lose weight and inches. I just bought a weight scale today and I weigh 165 lbs. and my height is 5'0". I haven't had a chance to measure myself yet. Please let me know what I need to do to join this group. Thanks!

These are my last measurements from SparkPeople.
Waist 40 - 5/1/2010 Hips 46 - 5/1/2010 Thigh 27 - 5/1/2010 Calf 16.5 - 5/1/2010 Upper Arm 15 - 5/1/2010 I'm not exercising or lifting weights this time around but losing weight through diet modification. I've noticed that this my weight is going down more consistently but my measurements aren't as much as when I've exercised. Not a good sign! I think I will have to find time to fit in that exercise! :ebike: |

Then, post them...and every week we will be remeasuring. It is very important to measure at the same spot every time so use landmarks! |

thanks Jen...I went to Michael's and bought a measuring tape today... I will measure myself in the morning and post it here.. You mentioned cleansing? my friend did the master cleanse, she lost a lot of weight but she said it's hard to do..not sure if I should try it...which one do you think works better, cleanse or water fasting?
|
I ordered my very own tape-measure from eBay (I live at uni so I don't have one here yet!) so I will be posting my measurements as soon as I am able to do so!!

Ok, I was skeptical about weekly measuring b/c I couldn't imagine I'd lose any inches in a week. I was wrong...
Today, I weigh 134 and down 3 pounds from a week ago. May 1 measurements: Neck (I've never measured it before- was curious: 12 inches Chest: 34 (Last week: 35) Waist: 32 (Last week: 34) Abdomen: 36 1/4 (Last week 36 1/4) Hip: 37 (Last week: 37 1/4) Thigh: 22.5 (Last week: 23) Calf: 13.5 (Last week: same) Arm: 12 1/4 (Last week: 12.5) It's weird to see that my belly is larger than my chest and only slightly smaller than my hips. I really do hold most of my weight in my abdominal area. I'm very pleased with the results and don't mind the smaller chest size at all. And I am not that upset about my abdomen not shrinking- I'm pleased that I lost 2 inches in my waist. How is everyone else doing this week? |
gee, water fasting is very hard! i have done that before for prayer reasons. A liquid fast is much easier...the master cleanse is tough as well. I only recommend a complete liquid diet of something nutritious...a favorite shake..with some low sodium v8 to compliment for beginners. only for 1 day as well. eat regularly the next. Weekends are good for longer cleansing periods.
water fasting does have amazing benefits for the body ONLY in the short term. The body has the ability to completely focus on repairing and cleaning while the digestive system is almost completely inactive. i read the information on the master cleanse very thoroughly. I think if you can tolerate it it would be good for you. I would say to check with your doctor, but i don't know of any doctor that would recommend it. DO NOT buy anything prepackaged if you are going to do it...that would be silly. this website has all the information and recipes you need. i did a simlar cleanse every other day with water, apple cider vinegar, and honey as my staple during the cleanse. http://themastercleanse.org/ I have always had the most enjoyable and rapid weight loss incorporating cleansing into my method. i tried to avoid it so many times, but really it is the easiest way to get your body back in sync and start craving healthy foods again. |
