Monday am

Here we go Monday, here we go---

well, it IS hard to be enthusiastic on Monday!!

Is there an official way in day for this challenge? Where's my Sept 9 partner? what day are we "official"? I might have a .5 loss, but I don't know if its been a true week.

Has anyone on this thread tried the Davinci SF NO CARB flavored syrups?? I found 2 flavors at a Super Walmart in the coffee aisle- vanilla and hazelnut- their website is
www.davincigourmet.com--

How about the new Waldens Chocolate SF NO CARB syrup? I couldnt find it anywhere-=
www.waldenfarms.com

Ok, this is the Monday Challenge- just to get thru it---it doesnt even have to be pretty- lets just get thru it -- and grab any giggles and smiles that happen along the way-- !!!! CHINS UP ALL!!!! The weekend is only 5 days away!!

Byrd 08-19-2002 07:12 AM

Well Good Monday, everyone :dizzy: I'm sitting here with my DD waiting on the school bus & thought I'd go ahead & post since I'm going to jump in the shower & get ready for school myself when she leaves. Normally I would recheck my weight several times until my """"OFFICIAL""" w/i "time" around 8:00  Anyway, the scales say "180" still, so no loss (or gain) for me this week & I need to change my target date........let me think on that one until I get back from school & I'll post it later!!!!!!!!!....I'll be more realistic next time :spin:

Kaylets......your w/i day is whenever YOU want it to be....just make it weekly!!!!!!!! I also have the DV SF hazelnut & vanilla from Super WalMart. Sooner or later, I plan to order others from the net.....Toasted Marshmallow sounds WONDERFUL to me.

Amarantha, good thing you posted a new thread...I didn't realize we had 99 posts :flame: I have them email me when we have new posts, so I just click the link and come straight to it & by pass all the previous posts. WOW, are we flamin' or what!!!!!!!!!!!

anagram 08-19-2002 08:20 AM

And Wow, 20 of us now seeking to rid the world of 100 of those cute little poundies!

Alas, Amarantha, you are not alone. The weekend was not my most shining time on this weight loss journey. I hie me now to my Monday morning Slimfast (no I'm not on the S. diet - just do it now and again when I know I've been naughty and have a weigh in in two days). I only hope I'm still down at last week's level but in the grand scheme, I now it will go, sometimes faster, sometimes slower and last week was more than I expected it to be so maybe this week will be lots less.

Onward into Monday and beyond -

Sarahbella 08-19-2002 10:17 AM

Happy Monday everyone!! :D

I have to admit to you all that I went off program the past 4 days...but today I decided that I need to keep going...for me!

So I got up early, fed the baby, dropped off the hubby at the train, and drove to beach for a nice 2 mile walk along the beach (sidewalk) with baby (16 months). After we played at the edge of the water a bit.

I felt terrific for setting a goal (decided to do this last night before bed) and reaching it! I felt that I got a good workout after and I loved watching my daughter Meghan play...we both had a wonderful time!

What a great way to start off the week :)

I promised myself that I would exercise 4 times this week.
This was my second time...I have two more days left...and two more days of my WW week left!
I can do this!

:)

Hello everyone!

I am more than happy, yes, I dare say exctatic, to report 2 1/5 pounds have exited my bod this week. All the journaling, water glugging, walking and yoga have done their job! I am 1/2 pound lower than I've been for the last 4 months!!!! :spin:  :spin:
Hey! I only have 1.5 to loose before setting my next 5 pound challenge!!!!!!

Sweetmom - Congrats on the loss and your wonderful attitude. I too have spent years of my life thinking, ok, obsessing, about loosing weight and so far what's worked best is just thinking about living a healthy life - the weight loss will come! Good luck!!

Steph - Congrats on the exit of 1 pound of sludge!

WSW - Oh, it's SO ok to loose slow! I've lost fast and got sick, then gained it all back. This time, I've been goin' slow (a bit too slow, but that's been my fault) and I feel SO much better and I feel like I'm learning how to maintain it as I go.

Guinever - :cp: on the 1 pound loss!
About your plateau question, I've literally bounced around with the same 5 pounds for 4 months now. It's been my fault, not journaling, not eating right, but what's different is that this time I didn't throw in the towel and regain it all. I took the "non-loosing" weeks as practice maintenance and kept telling myself that I'll get it together again soon and just to hang on until then. I tell myself this is a life journey - not a quick trip. There is no finish line, there is no "done". I haven't given myself a deadline to get to goal by and I think in doing that I've removed a ton of stress when I do hit those plateaus. I ride 'em out, wait for my body to readjust and keep going. It's worked so far!

Kaylets - I'm here, I'm here!!!! You can make your own official weigh in day (mine's Monday - keeps me honest during the weekend) and you can pick your start date, last week was my first official weigh in. We've got 3 weeks from today to get there!!!!

Ta for now!

Terri :cb:
3.5 down as of 8/19
1.5 to go before 9/9

Amarantha2 08-19-2002 12:13 PM

THE FOLLOWING POST IS FROM DOLLAR!!!

Dollar posted the following and I replied to her on the other thread, but thought it'd be cool to bring everyone up to date on this new thread also!!! You are doing GREAT Dollar and will have a GREAT week, I just feel it!! I will post as Amarantha later as I am late, late, late for an appointment! Woo-hoo!

Hi Ladies,
Well I didn't manage to get my big walk in with my daughter because I have been so tired after going back to work this week which was a big challenge for me. so when we walked the dog and everyone else shot baskets (I can't do that again yet) I decided to walk around the infield of the ball diamond and I did that about 15 times at a leisurely pace. The next night I did it again but I really picked up the pace and went about 25 times around. so last night we walked around the whole school field twice. so I'm getting there.
I don't think Im going to do well this week at weigh in we went out to eat at Montanna's on Fri and I wasn't very good I had ribs wings soup garlic bread and Mile high mud pie, I haven't done anything like that since I started my diet in Feb. but oh well I got back on the band wagon the next day. Well I have to run I have to get ready for work. I let you know how I do after weigh in tomorrow night. ... Dollar

Monday weigh-in...

Monday is my official weigh-in day since my target date is on a Monday (9/9). And today I'm very happy to report another one pound loss for a total of 2 pounds down. Dance away little darlings   . Three pounds to go and three weeks to do it in. NO PROBLEM :D .

I'll be back later...................

Guinever 08-19-2002 02:02 PM

Nicely done Punkinseed! Way to kick those pounds to the curb and breaking your 4 month yo-yo!

It sounds like everyone is doing so great, I'm so proud. :hat: But now I have a question - what exactly are those no sugar/no carb syrups you've all been talking about? What exactly do you put them on?

I just want to know because I finally get to go back to school next week (I'll be a college senior) and start cooking and shopping for myself again (I LOVE this). This is extra great because if I come home for the summer, I get to live with my, get this, CATERER mother. Frankly, people wonder why I'm not fatter having a mom like that, but trust me, after washing dishes at your hundreth wedding, you never want to see cake or butter again! :(

Guinever

Amarantha2 08-19-2002 06:11 PM

Guinever, sorry I missed your LOSS on the list! Hooray for you! I'll fix the list in a sec. Also, congrats to Sweetmom and I'm updating her on the list as she's chased away some POUNDS! :cb: Please fix list anyone if you see an oversight! Won't hurt my feelings! :) Just copy and paste in a new post.

Sorry for the lack of personal replies! Elbertine Pep has been handling my correspondence lately and she's always in a hurry. Peppy, you know!

Below in red is Sweetmom's post from the old thread:

OK, now I'm really psyched! I weighed in on Saturday and found that I lost another 3 lbs. That's 8 total! I definitely think I'm going to make my goal of 2 more pounds by 9/1.

I found that by planning ahead, I can (usually) stay within my calorie goal of 1100-1200 per day. To do this, I created a spreadsheet that lists my favorite foods and their calories. With this quick reference, I can post a menu for the week that includes all meals & snacks. Not only has this helped with food consumption, but also with shopping and communication within the family. ~ Sweetmom

Amarantha, when you get a chance could you put me down for 2 pounds lost? Thanks a bunch ;) .

Good morning ladies, I hope you all have a great day. We are finally getting some cooler weather here it is nice for a change to sleep with blankets on at night. Well tonight is the night for WI it is at 600 so I will post when I get home and let you know how we did. I think this is so great how everyone is so supportive of each other, my WW meetings are like this so it is like having a meeting at my fingertips whenever I want. Well got to run I have a doctors appointment and then I have to head to work. Enjoy your day and keep on smiling.

Elbertine's report ...

Elbertine Pep, personal trainer to royalty and film stars reporting in this morning for Emp. Amarantha, who runneth late. She wisheth me to report that for the second day in a row she hath done wonderfully on keeping to her daily challenges. Yesterday's calories were 1765 and exercise was 65 minutes of pole walking. SHE HATH DONE IT

Amarantha's daily challenges for Tuesday in conjunction with the goal of losing five pounds are thus: 1) Post her weight stats proudly on 3FC as Amarantha is always proud of herself and her efforts whatever her weight; 2) Eat between 1600-1799 calories (less if she desireth); 3) Enter no convenience stores for the purpose of buying junk food on her business trip today, entering one only in emergency and eating only food she takes in cooler; 4) Doing weights BEFORE she goes; 5) Stopping at least once on trip and doing a walkabout with poles; 6) Shopping for dinner in an actual grocery store AFTER she returns to her town; 7) Maintaining the Desert of No Food Between 9 p.m. and midnight. :cb:

In accordance with Number One above, Amarantha's stats are approximately as follows:

Highest KNOWN weight ever: 247
Lowest approx. weight since taking action to lose above weight: 142
Weight since starting a six-week initiative (now on last week): 168
Starting weight for this five-pound challenge: 165
Current weight: 166
Goal weight for this challenge: 160 (by Sept. 1)
Ultimate weight goal: 135 (by however long it takes)

Empress Amarantha hath shared the above as a way to refocus herself for the weight loss journey ahead. She remindeth herself why she is taking this journey (because it is a good thing to be 135 pounds rather than 247 and several other reasons).

Amarantha is so amazed and thrilled at the progess and healthy attitudes of the TEAM OF THE POWER OF FIVE. She believeth WE CAN DO THIS!! WE WILL DO THIS!!

Hello you wild and wonderful loosers!

Yesterday was the best kind of day... the day that people like me (that sit and talk to clients all day) thrive on.... by no later than 10am I'd gotten no less than (count 'em) 4 compliments, strokes, accolades, pats on the back and acknowledgements about my work. Some of these came from clients that NO ONE can handle - but (huh, huh, polishing nails on chest), yours truely seems to have firmly wrapped around one cute little finger.... GODS sometimes I really love my job... Add to that the fact that I also lost 2.5 in my Monday weigh in and yesterday was priceless.

Congrats to all you loosers!

Sorry for the drive-by post. I must get to billing, no matter how much I don't want to.

Terri

jusdoit 08-20-2002 12:15 PM

Hi Friends!

Amarantha, thanks for the updates and may I say that you have AWESOME STATS!!! Congrats on an incredibly successful journey :cp: .

Dollar, good luck with weigh-in today. We'll be awaiting your GOOD news :D .

Terri, YAHOO for your great day yesterday. Isn't it marvelous when our personal life AND work life coincide in the positive?! Congrats on your 2.5 lb loss and on being employee of the year :D .

My goal for the day is to run at lunch, and my goal for the week is 5 workouts which is what I accomplished last week. That's my magic number for this 5 pound challenge.

Have a great day everyone and come on in and post when you can  .

Sarahbella 08-20-2002 12:58 PM

Need some support today...
Let's just say I've had two danish and a BOX of Cap't Crunch...and it's just 1pm!

Why do I binge like this :(

Please please talk me out of this! I have to stop this unhealthy eating...if not for me, for my daughter...I don't want her to learn these unhealthy eating habits...which I've carried over from my mother.

:(
Struggling Sarah

anagram 08-20-2002 02:18 PM

Dear Sarahbella - hug, hug. We all know those times too well. Whatever else is going on, you are good. Your body is probably now unhappy and your soul down trodden. But throw off that guilt. Go drink some water, then drink some more. Then plan for a super HEALTHY dinner and some exercise. And follow through.

We're all here waiting to hear you've come through this black cloud and are back on track. With no real bad regrets. After all Danish are well, wonderful. Capn Crunch not so thrilling. But jump back in. You did the right thing posting.

Byrd 08-20-2002 03:47 PM

Sarahbella, I know exactly how you're feeling. I've been there innumerable times & don't really doubt that I'll be there a few more. This whole weight thing is a continuous journey. If you fall off, just grab yourself & get back on. As anagram said, go drink some water & plan a healthy meal. I agree with the exercise too, but I never do it --- keep saying it...just don't do it :dizzy: Just remember that you're only human & you're going to make mistakes in your weightloss journey. It doesn't mean that "you can't do this".......YOU CAN

BTW, I'm still considering my target date & I'll post it when I decide.

jusdoit 08-20-2002 04:10 PM

Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry about your day. I HATE those days. But we all have them and will continue to have them occasionally. The trick, of course, is where you go from here. You've already done the right thing by posting. Good job! Now put the past in the past and start the day over right this minute. You don't have to wait until tomorrow for a fresh start, you can start right now - clean slate as of ____ o'clock. I know you can do this...I really do. You've got all of us cheering you on and sending you "fresh start" vibes. We  you!

Punkinseed 08-20-2002 05:05 PM

Sarah, brush off the crumbs and keep going!!!! We're all going to have setbacks - it's normal and it's LIFE. Perfection isn't what we're aiming for... You always do the best you can at any given moment. At that specific time, *that* was the best you could do. Forgive yourself and don't end up in a downward spiral!

Sending you cyber hugs.... Now go brush your teeth (nothing like a little mint freshies to make Capt'n Crunch tast nasty) and pop some gum in your mouth!

You, no, WE can do this!!!!

Now, I'm getting off before the lightning zaps my 'puter! :fr:

Terri

Kaylets 08-20-2002 07:45 PM

tuesday pm

Hello all!!

Most of the day went my way so I'm going to ignore the parts from about 4 -5:30 that were trying my patience.

Scale looked good this am but since I am officially weighing in on Mondays I will only use what it showed Monday- .5 down-- At least its down right??

if you missed the post about the Davinci Syrups- here's their website to get an overview
_ www.davincigourmet.com-
- I know the Super Walmart's carry the SF Vanilla and Hazelnut- the website shows has lots of recipes- my dh says we should try stirring some into coolwhip just for fun- but even to flavor water -- why not- some of the flavors sound yummy

To everyone who had some bad moments lately- someone from the blockette thread put it this way " if you are walking somewhere and trip and fall, do you get up and go all the back to where you started or do you just get up and keep going in the direction you were originally headed?"

Be careful out there!

Sarahbella 08-20-2002 08:04 PM

Well put Kay! Thanks everyone for all of the support. I cannot tell you how much it means to have you guys to come to for support....
I feel so loved :D

The plan:
Tonight I will be writing down a plan for tomorrow. This usually works quite well, since I know if I'm still hungry I can add on to the menu of the day :)

I ate like a big old piggy today...but I'm putting it behind me.
DH told me that he will come home after work and watch Meghan while I go to the gym on Wednesday and Thursday. That will be a big help. Meghan really hates the gym, and the childcare center...going through seperation anxiety right now, I believe.
So this works out great!

Can I ask if anyone's hubby/or s.o is unsupportive with WW?
My hubby is. He has major issues with my weight...and it's quite upsetting...and I think that has a lot to do with my binge eating. KWIM?

Well I have one week from tomorrow to reach my goal.
I hope, NO, I know I can do it!
:)
Thanks to you all!

Hugs,
Sarah

Amarantha2 08-20-2002 09:41 PM

Yo!

Hi, all! I'm on my third really good eating day but am stressed with work, so am going to go read in bathtub until I feel in control, which will probably be next week!

Sarah, I'm so sorry you had a bad bingey kind of day. We've all been there, (I go there on average of once a week ... last week it was 4000 calories, now THAT'S a binge!) :) I'm sorry, too, that you aren't feeling like you get the support from DH you need on your weight loss journey. Maybe he's just not expressing himself well on the subject and doesn't know how to tell you how much he cares? But you are doing great and you are going to get there despite any and all setbacks. Things just take time! Remember the motto of the Power of Five: WE CAN DO THIS!!! You bet.

Kaylets: Congrats on your DOWNWARD spiral!!! :cp: I will update the list in a new post. It's great to go DOWNHILL or STAY THE SAME, isn't it? Weight management is one of the few aspects of life where this is the case! :cb: I'm going to try some of that syrup in water when I find it. Interesting thought ... dulce de leche or amaretto water!

I have to go. Old Dog has just picked up an ant trap and seems to have intentions of ingesting it! Yipes! She's never done THAT before!

Hi everyone,
well it was a great night for me I'm down 2.6#'s that puts me at 59 down. My daughter was down .6 that is the .6 she put on while we were on vacation. So we are going in the right direction. I'm hoping next week will bring 2.4 more for my 5lb challenge and if not at least 1 for my sixty. I saw my doc today and as long as Im not having anymore symptoms that are getting worse from my concussion I don't need to go back for a month and then we will discuss cutting down my blood pressure pills because it has come way down with my weight loss, he just wants to make sure I get over this concussion. Well bye for now .

Hi everyone, I weighed myself and was really shocked----I lost 4 lbs this past week! I have been trying really hard and finally some results! I wouldn't expect to lose that much every week though! But I am real proud of myself today!
You are all doing great too!

sweetmom 08-21-2002 09:31 AM

Congrats Dustcatcher! I know how you feel, when I realized I lost 8 lbs and for the first time in 3 yrs I was on the south side of 150, I wanted to cry tears of joy! I think the important thing to remember is that weight fluctuates. This is why, no matter how tempting it is, I only weigh in once a week. In fact, using the scale at the supermarket helps because it helps me to stay on track with my shopping.

Dollar had expressed guilt in eating out. I lalso ove to eat out, and was horrified to realize that the amount of steak they serve at an average steak house, for the smallest portion, is equivalent to 3 days worth of meat protein. The American Heart Assoc suggests that when eating out, ask for a to go box at the beginning of the meal and box 1/2 of your meal. This way it's not on your plate so your not tempted and you have ja good lunch for the folowing day!

Elbertine Pep reporting: Congrats to Dollar, Daughter and Dustcatcher for great losses!!! :cb: I shall update list presently!!! :cp:

Dost thou Royal Challengers o' the Team o' Five realize that EACH list post representeth progress by one or another challenger (well, except Emp. Amarantha, who nevertheless expecteth a great loss this week)!!! HOW GREAT IS THAT? WHO IS BETTER THAN US? :cp:

Amarantha hath had another five-star day in meeting all the challenges she set yesterday and her calories were good at 1770, with 45 minutes of exercise ... part of which was done on the Arizona Trail during her work trip ... she sneaketh those little roadside hikes in regularly now!

Amarantha's challenges for today are 1) 1600-1799 calories (less if she desireth, but she won't); 2) 80 minutes of MODERATE AND SAFE exercise broken up through day ... she emphathize to me, her personal trainer Elbertine Pep, that this does not represent excessive exercise when it is broken up through day, moderate and safe ... she just wisheth to be active!

That is all, update of list to follow! Over and out! Onward and downward!!!

Punkinseed 08-21-2002 10:10 AM

Mornin' all...

I think I'm getting a sniffle in my nose. I'm achey, pissy, grouchy and I want to go back to bed. I was up all night because I couldn't breathe and some a$$h@<es decided 11pm was a *good* time to tune up their Harley and have a party - mind you the ranch where I live has a curfew. Next time I'm callin' the cops. Yes, I AM the neighbor from ****... I figure if people can't practice common courtesy then they don't deserve to live here in peace and quiet. I called the police and animal control on one guy so many times (now, WHY do you have to have 16 dogs that bark *all night long*??) that he finally moved.... I ended up making friends with the animal control lady and she told him if he got one more phone call about the noise she was going to start actions to evict him (he rented). Guess who made the last phone call at 2am?? yea, I guess I'm mean. Whatever.

Kaylets - I'm touched! That was my quote from the 21 Day thread. I'm surprised and thrilled that it's kinda found a life of its' own...

Amarantha - Oh be careful with those ant stakes! My old lab Sheba ate one and had to have her stomach pumped (ew). She was not a happy girl after that!
I'm with you about jumping in the tub until it's over... I'll bring my new bubble bath - coconut scented! It smells like that old pena colada sun tan oil they used to use in the 70's/80's. Mmmmmm.....

Sarah - I'm glad to see you made it through the day. There must've been something in the air. I went home, had a wonderful healthy dinner, then made 2 (yes, 2) peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and started to make quesadeas(?) (ate 1/2 of those) then realized it was 9:30pm, I felt like crap, wasn't even hungry and threw out what I hadn't finished. I think what led me to my binge was not eating enough in the first place. By the time I'd finished dinner I was still only at 20 points (Weight Watchers). Minimum for me is 26 - so I think this set me up for a scarf-fest.

As for support. My ex wasn't supportive. He was a fast food junky and even when I told him I was going to WW he still insisted we ate out 3-5 times a week (he was extremely picky and only ate a few foods I cooked and NO vegetables). His attitude was "well you don't have to eat it". Right, I'm just going to sit here and watch you stuff fries into your face. He ended up having a weight problem too eventually and believe it or not, I managed to loose 80 pounds while eating fast food with him 90% of the time (sometimes I'd start a fight so I could stay home - mean, but he was killing me!). It was extremely hard on me though and I resented him for putting me in that position and not taking my feelings and needs into account. Actually, this behavior bled through to other parts of our relationship and is part of why we're not together anymore. I haven't seen him in years but I can guarantee you I'm healthier than he is!

Dollar & daughter - Congrats on the losses!!!

Dustcatcher - 4 pounds?!? Now, if THAT doesn't motivate you.... Good goin'!

Well, I'm gonna go find a box, or CASE of tissue and attempt to make it a productive day. I will guarantee you there will be no exercise tonight. I'm going home, making dinner and getting into bed.

Achoo,
Terri

Power of five!!!! Have lost 1.6 this week for a total of 3.4 pounds of my five. For me, this is a huge loss - I am usually a much slower loser but I am grateful and will remember this when temptation summons.

Upandaway, my losing date buddy, if you're lurking, come on in!

jusdoit 08-21-2002 12:06 PM

WOW!!!

I am in awe of the losses that are going on around here. I'm so proud to be a part of this group :).

Yesterday I got a good run in at lunch. This a.m. I was planning on going to the gym for a swim workout..........but I didn't get the ole keester outta bed in time. So, I shall try again for a lunch time run.

Dollar, daughter, dustcatcher, and anagram CONGRATS on the losses.

Sarah, I'm so glad to see that you've already put yesterday behind you and you have a great plan of action! :strong:

Amarantha, I KNOW FOR CERTAIN that you're in for a good loss on the ole scale this week. Your hard work will pay off :D .

I guess that's all for now. Keep up the great work everyone.

Guinever 08-21-2002 01:36 PM

Hey all - congrats to everyone! Do you realize that together, we've lost about 30 pounds in this past week and a half? How great is that!

Anyway, I'm down 2 pounds total so yea for me! That means I have a week and 3 days to get these last 3 pounds off my thighs - doable, right? Right!

Sarah - Excellent re-building day! Way to come back around.

Amarantha - Sticking to a pre-made plan is always impossibly hard for me, so I'm impressed!

Punkinseed - That's hilarious! I personally would have called sooner, but maybe I'm just evil  When I lived at home, our neighbor had a dog my dad called the Howler Monkey - same problems as you, but no moving to be had.

Keep it up everyone, doing great!
Genevieve
