Lightbulb I hit a plateu..anyone with advice?

Hello,
I am new to this website and I was looking for some help to get over my weight loss plateu. So i started out at 199 lbs and was at 176 for about 6 months and all of a sudden I went down to 174. I took a rest from the gym for about a week and was really stressed due to other reasons and i topped out at 178..I was like WOW. Now i currently weight between 174-177 so it's annoying. I have never been through this obviously so I am looking for people who have gone through this and what they did to overcome their platue. It's really frustering and depressing to work so hard torwards something and then have it stop. I am really looking forward to my goal of 150 lbs and being healthy. Please give me some answers that will help me out. I've heard of eating more, taking a break at the gym and so on, but I need advice from people who experience the same thing and not just read it on a website.

Thanks everyone!

How about trying to switch up your routine? Your body gets used to your regular everyday routine, but if you say... start biking instead of walking... or sign up for yoga, etc. It's something new your body isn't used to so it gets shocked into something new! Try it?

Hi PJ welcome to 3FC. Tell us what kind of eating plan you're on. I'm assuming that when you say plateau that you mean you have been dedicated to your eating plan, and have not become relaxed in weighing, measuring and recording every bite you take? Plateau means different things to different people.

Yes, I agree with Lori. When you say plateau - do you mean, that' you've been strictly & consistiently on plan, staying within your calorie budget for more then 2 weeks and have seen no losses.

Or do you mean, that you mean that your weights come to a standstill because of overeating due to stress and what not?

Let us know, give us a glimpse into your plan. The answer you give, will help provide us with a little more insight and then we will be able to suggest the appropriate suggestions to get you losing weight once again.

okay so by the weight loss plateu im meaning im sticking with my diet plan and eating healthy foods differen't kids that is to maintain my weight or in other woods not to over eat and to lose weight. I never really counted my calories I guess because I always ate healthy but if i had to guess maybe around 1500 give or take. Maybe thats too low but i can't give an exact count. I just know i've eatn the same healthy foods since day one. I started exercising on the elliptical instead of always hitting the rpm classes and recently which is just last week so of course I haven't really seen a change i've added 25 min in the morning and just a fast pace walk on the treadmill. Other than that i've started taking kick boxing classes and step classes and still nothing but I don't think i've changed long enough to see a difference. I think it could mostly be my food intake as well maybe i need to change something. I know what you mean by having to change the workout ...the rpm class i use to take everyone sweats so bad and i barely do. thanks everyone and if you need more infor just let me know.

You can eat healthy foods and still be eating too many calories. Try keeping track of your calories for a few days and see what you are actually eating. "Give or take" is not an accurate account of what you are eating.

You can overeat even if it's healthy. To me, it is hard to give advice if you don't know how much you've actually been eating. How about recording your calories for a week, true honest recording of every bite, every lick, every taste, every drink then see what your caloric intake is?

Great minds run in the same channels ! And of course we speak the truth. You'll never know where you are going , until you know where you've been.

okay so usually i eat a fiber bar or packet of oatmeal in the morning for lunch i eat a lean cuisine meal or chicken breast (those are some examples) for a snack i have yogurt or fat free tuna snack pack or fruit or apple sauce (2-3 times a day) for dinner i have chicken breast, 93/7 hamburger meat, ham steak and with any of them i have steamed vegetables. I try not to eat before bed but if i get a craving i drink 16 oz of milk with a serving of powdered chocolate mix to fill me up. I will go ahead and count the calories for a few days but there is an idea of what i mainly eat.
