Although as far as water retention, I find that drinking water and avoiding processed foods and sodium is a great natural way to deal with it.

And I don't know, anything that makes one dizzy doesn't sound right to me. Drugs of any sort always frighten me. I personally am a firm believer that we don't need any weight loss aids. *For me*, I'd much rather go the natural route. No need to resort to pills to boost things, speed things, suppress things, etc. A commitment to a healthy diet and exercise is all the aid that is needed, IMO.
I think some of their products are a bit gimmick-y, like Slimquick Extreme. I dunno what is going on with that lol. I think overall I think the idea is that of "take this if you're a female and it can help you, but not without a diet and exercise." Which in a way one could argue that if the pills were just a placebo people might have the same outcome if they followed diet a program anyhow lol. It isn't as it made me feel really bad, but then again so did my BC pills for like 3 months lol.

From what I saw from the Alli website, they seem to have a more in depth diet/healthy eating program. I looked into Alli because my boyfriend saw it and in fact the only reason I tried Slimquick was because of the commercials I saw. I thought "I'm a girl..I have problems..this could help." lol. WRONG lol. With the Alli I don't believe it would help someone like me as I don't eat enough fat on a daily basis to make it work. So, never tried that one.

I hate drugs as well. Taking the Slimquick pill was a bit scary lol. I don't like taking Advil either. The good thing was the lessons I took from Slimquick has made me not try out diet aids. I never tried them before, wanting relief from things I was going through pushed me to try it because no matter what I did, nothing would make it all better. In a way BC pills didn't make things all better, but the improvement is like awesome. That is what I needed.

But that is just my experience...and I'm not for it clearly, but I can understand why people take it and why some have some sort of success.
  • Unfortunately, I think too many people believe that they can't do "this" on their own, so they are always searching for some kind of helper/product/gimmick. They are looking for some outside answer, when the answer can be found right inside. I just wish that they would realize that the only place they should be searching for that something, that answer, is right there within themselves. Some just have to search a little bit deeper. We all have the power, the tools, the capability and yes the strength to lose weight. Each and every one of us. It's there. It's really, really there.

I agree. I think the lessons I'm learning now are to focus on the strength within. I'm not one of those people who can post in the mini-goal forum that I lost 100 pounds in a year. No. I lost 60+ in a year and struggled to reloose the 25 i re-gained. For the last three months I've gained 8 pounds, lost that, regained it again lol. It is frustrating. I think there are people out there who really work hard, eat healthy, and just get so frustrated. I think it is in those moments that seeing a commercials on TV about some sort of diet aid or some sort of Seen on TV exercise equipment makes you want to try it. Then again I'm sure there are people who just got right for diet aids. I mean Slimfast...my Mother used to live off of that stuff. She would loose weight, then regain it all once she stopped doing her Slimfast shakes, which I'll always remember as tasting like cardboard glop.

I'm stuck in the 280s, but that is like ironic since a long time ago I used to complain about being stuck in the 180s! haha. I would love that now.
  • Well, I took slimquick, because 1. It was cheap. 2. It boosted my energy, but not in a jittery sort of way, which I loved. 3. It's "supposed" to boost my metabolism. 4 It decreased my appetite. Like REALLY decreased it. It was the nicest thing! 5. I It's for women, I mean seriously? What more could you want?

I mean, I know it's almost like a waste of money, but I was losing weight with it. And if I stayed within my calorie intake, I probably wouldn't have gained all my weight back. As I said, I HAVE been eating crap the last couple of weeks. I mean, mcdonalds and pizza 4 times a week? And not counting your calories at all? I think 3/4 of women out there would gain weight! haha. I'm not blaming slimquick. Taking it had me on a schedule, and I personally think it helped. Thank you guys for your support! I needed it!

Then by all means UNstick yourself. Keep plugging away. STICK to your plan and those 180's will be yours once again. Because they're there for the taking. Now go and get em'
