I feel GOOD. Yesser this is the first day of my brand new start of my next 6 months of this program. I am reviewing all my WW material and getting a refresher course. I believe this will help rejuvinate and polish up my motivation. I am comb binding all my records for the last 6 months and will have all that to look at on occasion. Yes, and in July I am starting a walking program. Yes, me ~ I am going to exercise.
Have a great day ladies and I'll catch you on the rebound.
Just got back from having a delicious burrito at Maggies on the Avenue. Love those things. This is a lovely day here and I am totally enjoying it.
JEAN I trust you are back from the market by now. I don't mind shopping when they have those electric carts. We did stop by a roadside stand and got some just picked blackberries that are huge and juicy and some plumbs.
COOKIE I see you like to hang out on that second page. Hope your swim today is refreshing. Hot up there is it?
Just checking in to report that I lost a # at WI tonight! They've gone back to one meeting and changed the weigh in time so another gentleman and I got chairs and sat in the hallway for 45 min. They changed it last week when I was gone so I had no way of knowing.
Maggie -- I went without a grocery list which is a mistake! I just needed the usual bread, milk, oj, etc. When I finished it was $40 worth of stuff that I picked up as I walked by -- essentials like TP, Kleenx, paper plates and cups for the 4th, etc. I haven't had a burrito for a long time . . . that sounds good!
Jackie -- I can't keep up with other people walking either! I always figured it was because I am shorter than most. I usually walk alone and like to go early in the morning. We only have 2 grocery stores: one is having the road torn out and redone so I only go there in nonpeak traffic hours. The other is OLD and plain w/o any of the nongrocery items. They are closed on Sundays and holidays and only open from 8 AM - 9 PM during the week. It's not my choice of places to go but I can get in and out faster during the construction. I don't like to cook so getting groceries is a real pain as far as I'm concerned. You'd think I would be a skinny minnie!
Have a nice evening, Flowers!
I will bring Jackie over with me!
JEAN: Remember when grocery shopping used to be fun?? I used to really enjoy it...now it is just a necessary evil to an end!! It seems like I just keep buying the same old stuff over and over. Come to think of it...cooking isn't as fun as it used to be either!
Good girl for taking your walk!! Every bit helps! I'm so fortunate to have access to a nice pool where I can swim...it is about the only exercise I like. I am a VERY slow walker...so it is hard to find a walking partner...it isn't that I walk slowly...I lift my feet up and down the same number of times as others, but because all my leg length is in my thigh...I take very short steps. I've tried to lengthen my stride, but it is very ungainly and unnatural for me. So I'll just keep swimming!
Hope all of you flowers are having a good day!!
Jackie
I am quite a happy camper right now. I have been wearing a ring on my right ring finger for years. Ever since I had it made - it is a rose with two buds and each has a diamond in them. Anyway for years I have been wanting to get the prongs checked so as not to lose the stones. I was fooling with it awhile ago and it came off. YES ~ now I can take it in and get it checked. I have a permanent crease where it has lived all these years but have another ring I can put in it's place. Rejoice with me.
Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's another HOTone today in my corner of the world. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere -- plan to stay inside and work on my piles!
Maggie -- I'm glad that you can have your ring checked for loose stones. I try to do ours close to our anniversary so that I don't forget. When the weather is cooler my rings are loose but in the heat and humidity, they fit fairly tight. I always feel naked if I forget and leave home without them.
It is going to be a warm one here today... but for now I don't have to have the air on. There is a nice breeze thankfully blowing and it feels so good to have it come in here. I put to bed an 18 point day yesterday.... it was a struggle but I did it. Today is a 24 point one that makes it a bit easier. Sometimes those 18 point days are so easy and other times like yesterday. OH, the ebb and flow of our bodies do play a part in this weight loss process.
JEAN I marvel that "here it is in the Summer heat" and I was able to get that ring off. That in itself shows me that I have lost weight. The fact that my big shirt just got bigger didn't have as big an impact to me as did getting that ring off. I need these surprises along the way to help convince myself that I am shrinking. You see, I don't feel any different. I never felt bad and don't now. Also there isn't a full length mirror in here. Well there is one that could be if we moved some stuff. And my watch which is a bracelet one now is a true bracelet for it doesn't fit snug anymore but slides down on my hand a bit. I guess what helps me is all that water I drink to keep the fluids moving out of my body. We talked about water in meeting last Monday and it got reinforced in my mind how important it is to drink up. It takes water to get rid of the bloat. YIPEKIO Life is good.
Maggie -- Did you just see in the news where "they" decided we really don't have to drink ALL of the water that the powers-to-be have been promoting for so long? I still drink it though as I just think I feel better.
Have a terrific Thursday, Flowers! Another week is on its way out the door.
JEAN no I didn't see that on TV because we aren't hooked up to it but I did read it in a magazine. Well here is what ~ I don't drink more than I need anyway. Those proponents of drinking lots ~ ergo the water folks ~ said I was to drink half my body weigh in ounces of water. YIKES ~ I could never down that much any way so I drink enough to keep me hydrated and keep the salts moving out of my system that would cause water retention bloat. Happy drinking.
Sounds like a bouquet of happy fleurs to me! I lost .6 last week. Got looking at my card, and I've been futzing with the same 5 lbs. since March! What a jerk.
If I drank a percentage of my weight daily, I'd have to have an infusion and a catheter! I guess I could get my exercise running back and forth to the john.
Hot and sticky here, but we finally got some rain. I have 3 camp buddies arriving tomorrow for the weekend.........we all go back to childhood.......scary thought! We also are all imbued with the "Peter Pan Syndrome"........you know, " I won't grow up, I don't wanna go to school, etc." We've all done the school thing, and the kid thing, but we aren't grown ups yet
Who was it who went to the Opera? My aunt adored Puccini, and Turandotte was her favorite. We tried to give her an opera each Christmas..........she'd set up the ironing board on Saturday afternoon, turn the Stereo up on high, and iron away with a silly grin on her face. Thanks to her, my son likes opera too.........he even likes Wagner! I love all kinds of music but opera.
Hope to get my butt out of bed to go to Aquarobics in the AM
Have a happy day
BUBBLES what a neat gathering you will be having. That is so nice to have frineds from way back. I am sure you will have a lot to talk about this go round. I like just about all kinds of music. Don't like acid rock or rap though for I don't consider that music. But old time rock and roll and classical and blue grass and the list goes on and on. I remember when my mother ironed and I sat underneath the ironing board as a very young child she would have the radio on and listening to classical music. What a happy childhood memory you dredged up with that comment about your aunt. What a place for a kid to play. When I became 2 I couldn't play there anymore..... I can imagine why. That is when she draped a sheet over the dining table that hung to the floor and made a nice cosy tent for me to play under. My older sis and I spent hours under there and out of my Mothers way for sure. What a smart Mom she was and still is for that matter.
Mornin' Maggie,
My mother did the same thing with the DR table, except she used old blankets.. ....I can still see the blue one. We also used to put towels on the wrought iron front porch railings, get out some rope, and "ride horses" by the hour. When's the last time you saw a kid on his/her back just watching the clouds go by and talking about the different shapes?
Got up, walked the dog, then went to Aquarobics. I loved it, so am feeling very righteous! 1.5 hours of exercise and it's not even noon! A record for me. The lessons will be four times a week, so that ought to get me moving in the weight loss department, I hope. My goal is to be down another 10 lbs. , at least, by Laor Day.
Have good one.........I'm off to the grocery store.
Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It cooled down last night -- long enough to open windows and let some fresh air in. It started warming up around noon so I shut the windows and the air is on again. The humidity isn't too high yet so it really isn't all that bad outside.
I have been sorting through clothes all morning. I don't know how long I have had some of this stuff but know that I haven't worn some in a very long time. The Good Will bag is getting fuller by the hour!
Bubbles -- I know all about losing and finding the same 5#s. I broke my toe this spring and didn't walk for a couple of months. I managed to gain 7#s in nothing flat. I used to put sheets over a card table and play house. I am an "only" (as in child, grandchild, and niece on my mom's side) and we lived on the edge of town w/o neighbors so I spent a lot of time playing with my grandmother. Those are fond memories that I haven't thought about in a long time. Thanks for reminding me! I really don't think that kids have time to be kids anymore! Sad! CONGRATULATIONS on the .6# that is gone FOREVER! You are headed in the right direction!
Maggie -- I'd have to spend the day in the bathroom if I drank half of my weight in water! My grandma used to put a white sheet on the floor underneath her ironing board. I started out by ironing the hankies and pillowcases for her. Maybe that's why I don't mind ironing now....I can still see her yet.
Hope you all are having a nice day! I need to get busy again.
Good Morning Magnolias,
For what ever reason, I can't sleep.
Jean, you triggered memories of my grandmother for me. I was the first grand, and the only one who knew my grandfather, so as far as she was concerned, I was a beautiful genius She loved all holidays, but Halloween and Christmas were her favorites, and since her avocation was shopping, we were all the recipients of her generosity. She loved Chinese Checkers and Gin Rummy, which we would play by the hour at the beach.....she never knew until she was 95 that I wasn't as smart as she'd thought..........I could see the reflection of her cards in her glasses, and you know the rest! The first Halloween I remember, she had a tub for bobbing apples, and apples on a string suspended from the ceiling of the front hall. When it was time to go trick or treating, this white ghost appeared from the bushes at the end of the front walk. I ran back to the house and have never been real crazy about the dark since. She felt awful on that one. I can remember going on pony rides in the country with her. Lucky me, she lived to be 99, and was still independent at 97, so was a really big part of my life until I was 39.
Now that I've surely bored youall, I think I'll try to sleep again.
Happy Friday to all. Remember, in this hot weather we flowers need lots of the H20.
Good Morning, Flowers!
It promises to be another hot one today although it was cool during my walk early this morning.
My day got off to a bad start -- we have a new paper carrier and this is the 5th time this month that he has skipped us. It just irritates the "you-know-what" out of me!
Bubbles -- I used to play rummy with my grandparents too! My grandpa didn't like to lose so if grandma was winning, he'd always find something else he had to do! My grandma never let me win but once in a while I would! I've played cards all my life and still enjoy playing in a card club. DH and I will play gin rummy during the winter months.
We are going to look at a house(s) with our son and dil tonight. Being pregnant, moving is the last thing that Amanda wants to do so I have a feeling I will be doing some box packing this summer. *sigh* I thought last summer would be it for a long time. Jason can drive for a while but it's very hilly and not the best if we would have an icy winter.
Good Morning, Flowers!
It is a bright sunny morning and WINDY! It is supposed to be a hot and humid one again; I hate to think what our electric bill will be next time.
Out of the six of us who went to see the house, Jason is the only one who really likes it! Amanda doesn't like the different levels, carpet, counter, kitchen layout, etc. It is a designer home from the '80s, multi level, built on a hill with woodsy areas surrounding it so that no grass will grow -- the "yard" is all wood chips with plants put willy-nilly here and there. There is no place for kids to play and we saw no evidence that there were any small children anywhere close by. It has lots of space though; there were four big BRs, 3 full baths, an office, family room, huge eating area in the kitchen, big LR with a loft, and multi-level decks out the back. The garage was lower level so that you have to go through the basement family room and up stairs, through the LR to get to the kitchen. As we discussed pros and cons over supper, I am in hopes that Jason will realize this is not a home for a young family. It has been vacant for over a year and the price is pretty low considering the size and location of the house, that in itself waves the red flag. Stay tuned for the next chapter in the house hunt!
Beth is coming over today and we are going to a bridal shower this afternoon. Our new lady minister preaches for the first time tomorrow and then I think we are heading up to MIL's to mow, rake the beach, and hang out.
